Infopath and Section 508 Accessibility

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hey, guys! I'm building a web site for a Section 508 workgroup, and I need the site to be 100% accessible (including the administration module I'm making for the team. We're using SharePoint MOSS 2007 and I recommended using infopath to enter data into the site's database (and also to populate downloadable Microsoft Word documents). The customer claimed that InfoPath is not Section 508 compliant, which seemed odd to me because the forms can be modified to anything you want them to be (including 508 compliant).

I even found this guide to making InfoPath accessible:

I'm curious if there are any caveats to making accessible forms in Infopath, or if the information I've gathered is incorrect.

I have a section in my Infopath form that only a few people are supposed to see. I have used conditonal formatting rules to "hide" it. I am restricting based on user name that I am getting from GETUSERPROFILE which is working just fine. My problem is now that I have more than 5 users that I need to add to that conditonal formatting - there are only 5 slots for options.

Infopath: problem with structured layouts within a repeating section or table

I've run into a bit of a problem when trying to structure information in a repeating section or table.

What I need to be able to do is use a repeating section or repeating table to receive data from a secondary data source and then structure this data and have the ability to have the field names at the top of each row in the table.

Both options seem floored:

repeating table: this method seems ok at first but it doesn’t seem possible to have the field names at the top of each row, which is a requirement.

repeating section: this does include the field names for each row but for some reason will not allow me to structure the fields in a nested table, so its messy.

Check the InfoPath all mandatory fields in a section

We have created an form in our company with the InfoPath 2010.
This form must not changed, so it must be digitally signed. Because this form has many required fields, we don't want that this incomplete form can be saved.

How can we hide the section to the signed, as long as all the required fields are not correctly filled in?

InfoPath 2010 cannot connect to SharePoint 2010

You have installed Office 2010 beta and you are trying to connect to SharePoint 2010 from InfoPath but you get an error

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

A page with information on this web service (including C# source code) is at:

Web deployment project - web.config section replacement does not add remove tag

I have a web application that is actually installed as a component of a third party site.  In some configurations, I need to remove certain connection strings and re-add them.  I'm replacing this web.config section with a xml file that includes the following:

      <remove name="MyOverridenConnection"/>
      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

For some reason the remove tag is left out during the substitution and I end up with the following in the installed config:

      <add connectionString="Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;Initial Catalog=MyDb;Data Source=MyServer" name="MyOverridenConnection"

Is there any way to issue removes in replaced sec

InfoPath: Turn User Input into XML with Custom Forms Using Office InfoPath 2003

Office InfoPath 2003 is a new Microsoft Office product that lets you design your own data collection forms that, when submitted, turn the user-entered data into XML for any XML-supporting process to use. With an InfoPath solution in place, you can convert all those commonly used paper forms into Microsoft Office-based forms and end the cycle of handwriting and reentering data into your systems. Today organizations are beginning to realize the value of the mountains of data they collect every day, how hard it is to access it, and are striving to mine it effectively. InfoPath will aid in the design of effective data collection systems. Here the author shows you how to get started.
