Help: populate Html.DropDownList from table data? [Linq to SQL model]

I have two tables, Users and Roles.  The roles table is a reference table for the different roles of my site (RoleId and RoleName columns). The Users table contains profile data for each user, including a RoleId column that is FK'd back to the Roles table [RoleId].

Both tables are in a Linq to SQL model.

I have an edit page created which lists all the profile values of a user.  The edit page inherits the User model.  One of the editable values is the RoleId field.  I want to set this up to be a drop-down list that contains items labeled using the RoleName column of the Roles table, and matched with values of RoleId.

How can I achieve this?

the database result is as follows DATE     code   class1 class2  class3 1/8/10     M1     10       20     30     3/8/10     V2      20       30     10      1/8/10      H1      1           2      3         7/8/10     ! ! 8/8/10     !M2    5      5      5       3/8/10     B2      4      4     4       1/8/10     V1      3      7     3       THE OUTPUT SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS:- DATE           M1                          M2

How to insert dynamic data into an XML or HTML format table

Hi there,

I have a technical problem as the title described. I need to achieve this by SSIS that means the destination file could be XML or HTML. However, before inserting dynamic data from source, an XML or HTML format table must be predefined. In the final destination file, the predefined table and dynamic data will be both output.

Can anybody give some suggestions or reference links regarding to this? Appreciate it.

Change data type of library field from Single Line Text to currency

I have an InfoPath 2010 form that has a field listing the amount of currency on a meter. It is a Decimal form in Infopath but publishes to SharePoint as a Single Line of Text.  It will not let me modify the column in SharePoint and it will not let me select the allow edit from the Publishing Wizard.  I need the column as a currency so my Excel Queries work.

Checkboxes from data table

I have a data table that contains some values for Certifications.  This table can be updated in a different part of my application.  On the web page I am currently working on, I would like to have check boxes appear for every value in the data table.  I have been struggling with this trying to use a For Each loop and I cannot get it to work for anything.  Any suggestions?

I am using the following Razor syntax to obtain my data (I know this works because I can display it in a WebGrid):

var db = Database.Open("MyConn");

Rendering data with HTML tags in the DD Gridview for a selected column

I am having trouble finding out where and how to HTML Encode a cell's data on the Dynamic Data (v4.0) gridview of List.aspx.  As a simple case, suppose I have formatted cell data that is A<br/>B in the DB.    Obviously, I want A stacked on B in the cell.

It seems gridView1.HtmlEncode = true has gone away.

So maybe I'll try to catch it on the RowDataBound event:

protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(Object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)

            if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
                // Html Encode the cells

but this event never fires?

Has anyone figured out how to properly render HTML tags data in the List.aspx's GridView1?

If I figure this out, then I can add a MetaAttribute called something like [EncodeAsHtml(true)] and be on my way.  Thanks!

Linq - add data to database then email user the details

Hi all

I'm not sure how to structure the code for this but what I want to do is be able to add data to a database, and once this has completed successfully, then email the user to say the details have been added successfully to the database.

I need to:

1. Check that the relevant data has been added into the database then

2. Email the details of the relevant data when completed.

Thanks in advance for your help,

The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must

This is frustrating, and I don't know how to solve it.

I have a strange problem. I am adding a LinqDatasource object, and set the context:

        protected void LinqDataSource_ContextCreating(object sender, LinqDataSourceContextEventArgs e)
            e.ObjectInstance = new KaruselaDataContext(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ConnectionString);

Then I get this error:
The type 'System.Data.Linq.DataContext' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Linq, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'.

On web.config I already have this:
<add assembly="System.Data.Linq, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

NOTE: The datacontext is in a different project (DLL proect) where I added a refernce to System.Data.Linq.

is there another way adding a refernce to a web project? or only though teh web.config?

Did you know that by precompiling LINQ queries you might actually be degrading your app's performance if you're not careful? Julie Lerman explains how to ensure you're not re-precompiling queries each time and losing the expected performance benefits across post-backs, short-lived service operations and other code where critical instances are going out of scope.
