Cannot fill-in Word 2003 fill-in form accessed through SharePoint (WSS 3.0) after installing Word 20

We are experiencing problems when opening a fill-in form designed in Word 2003 accessed through a SharePoint (WSS 3.0) document library after installing Word 2007.  Prior to upgrade to Word 2007, the user could open the file in read-only mode, fill-in the fields and without saving the data, print or email the completed form.  Now, in order to be able to fill-in the fields, it appears they must have SharePoint permissions set to "contribute" so that they can "Edit" the file, fill-in the fields, print or email, and then close the file and specifically indicate they do not want to save changes.  Needing advice as this changes our security in SharePoint and adds extra steps for users.  Thanks.

Why is it looking for: Microsoft.SharePoint.Search version when I'm installing SharePoint

I had SharePoint 2010 installed on Windows 2008R2 test box. I then upgraded it to a DC, and it broke SharePoint. In the meantime, I was asked to put SharePoint 2007 on, as a non-Microsoft SharePoint add-on that we want to test is not yet compatible with SharePoint 2007. I have removed every trace of SharePoint 2010 that I can find, but I am running into difficulties with configuraing SharePoint 2007. It installs successfully, but when it reaches task 2 of the SPTCW it fails. The error is: An exception of type System.IO.FileNotFoundException was thrown. Additional exception information: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Search, Version, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.   I know enough to know that it seems to be looking for SharePoint Search from 2010, but I have removed all traces of 2010. I'm guessing that there is a DLL or something that is from 2010 that hasn't been written over when installing SharePoint 2007, and it's calling for the Microaoft.SharePoint.Search.   I've been into c:\windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL and there is no evidence of a Microsoft.SharePoint.Search   I am hoping that I don't have to rebuild the server, but I'm pretty stuck now. I've spent 2 days on the whole SharePoint nightmare.

After Installing SharePoint Foundation 2010, trying to open site gives 404 error in browser

I had this as reply on a thread about migrating from WSS 3.0 to SFS 2010. But I have completed all the steps with the modified documentation, but the browser delivers an error 404 when I try to open the site I created.  Same thing happens if I go at it via https, but first I get a certificate warning error (using the IP instead of the FQDN) and then being prompted for credentials.

I am completely stumped at what else to look at.  Any help in gathering information to get help is also appreciated.

Environment:  SBS 2008, SFS 2010, SQL Express 2008.  Rest of the IIS sites continue to function normally and I can get to the management site ok.  Although after the install, I had to go into application pool and change the service account from the domain admin (it defaulted to that) to networkservice account, otherwise I got a 503.  Same thing happened on the site I created until I changed the service account.  Now just a 404.

SharePoint VSS Writer not registering / installing properly

The SharePoint 2010 VSS Writer is not being published into the results of the vssadmin list writers and is causing Microsoft DPM from being able to protect the data.   We have tried all the standard stuff including the stsadm -o registerwsswriter, configuresharepoint -EnableSharePointProtection, re-register vss dll's, ensure spwrapper account is farm admin and local admin on the server.

I posed a question in another forumn that appears to be a SharePoint VSS issue and not a DPM issue.

Looking at the registry, we do find the stsadm -o registerwsswriter command creates the "SharePoint Services Writer" key under HKLM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VSS\Diag\ but only creates the IDENTIFY (Enter) and IDENTIFY (Leave) DWORD values and not the GETSTATE (Enter) and GETSTATE (Leave) values that a working SharePoint server does (our non production server).

Any directions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We do have a case open with Microsoft for nearly 3 weeks... SharePoint team is currently reviewing still.

Installing/Configuring Exchange 2010 to Accomodate Sharepoint 2007

My company is in the process of installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.  I am interested in ideas of how best to configure Exchange 2010 so that SharePoint 2007 is in position to take optimal advantage of the features offered by Exchange 2010.  Any feedback on this would be helpful.  Thanks.

Stuck installing Sharepoint 2010 - Config Wizard saying Cannot connect to database master

Hi all

I have setup 2 servers in hyper-v.
SERVER-SHP = Sharepoint 2010
both running on windows server 2008 R2.
Both servers are joined to the same domain, have fixed ip addresses and can ping each other.

When I get to the part in Sharepoint 2010 setup where I'm runnng "Sharepoint Products Configuration Wizard" where I specify the database server and name and username and password I get the following error which I can't get past "Cannot connect to database master at SQL server at SERVER-SQL. The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect to it."

I have read the following link and followed it but the problem remains

I don't see where it is falling over as the username and password is the domain administrator one (have also tried the spAdmin) mentioned to setup in the above link. And it says at the notes at the top of the page that if the database (SharePoint_Co
