Assign Different View to different users

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hello All, I am new to Sharepoint and would like some guidance with the following sitaution.  We would like to assign a different view for different users.

This is the scenario we have a list with 1000 rows and have 5 users.  We would like to split the 1000 rows evenly among them so billy gets 200 bob gets 200 mary get 200 etc.  Can this be done?  Bob should bot see Billys 200.  Can sharepoint assign the rows evenly among users? Is this scenario even possible?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Page View Count And Users Online

How to properly configure permissions so users can view, add, edit, and delete list items, but not w

I am trying to figure out how to properly setup security so that it can be configured at the top-level, and then inherited all the way through. Here is what I would like to do: Each user can view, add, edit, and delete list items - but, users cannot modify or delete web part pages. The only way I know how to do this is set Contribute from the top-down, and then go into each Site Pages library and set Read access. The problem is that I have 100 sites, and I was hoping there was a way I could set security at the top, and inherit downward. Rather than having to go into all 100 Site Pages library and set Read access. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

SharePoint Users Behind a Forefront TMG Server Cannot Access Explorer View in Document Libraries

SharePoint server via a Forefront TMG server in a separate sub-domain. These users cannot access Explorer View in Document Libraries nor can they map a drive to the SharePoint directory structure, as users who are in the same sub-domain as the SharePoint server can. grouped view for anonymous users

I have a sharepoint 2010 box that has anonymous access enabled. One site manager put a document library view on two different pages (insert web part --> lists and libraries --> documents) On one page, they let it display the default view. On the other, they changed it to display a grouped view (with plus signs, to expand and collapse the list of docs).

The page with the default view works fine. The page with the grouped view asks for credentials when the plus sign is clicked on. If you click cancel, it displays "401 unauthorized".

Any suggestions?

View performs differently for different users

I've a view that runs much fatser when executed as a windows user than when executed as a sql login.

The view accesses tables via a linked server as well as local tables. there are also a couple of views that are being accessed as well.

I've looked at the different execution plans and there is a sort that is taking up 83% of the effort when the SQL login is used. However I can't work out how to fix this problem.

Any advice on approach would be greatly appreciated.

Assign sharepoint workflow task to multiple users/groups

I need to assign workflow task to multiple users or groups based on the user department in the active directory. I am trying to use the AssignedTo property of the SPWorkflowTaskProperty to achieve this but don't know how. I tried to put multiple user ids in the sting separated by ";", but this is not working.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

assign multiple tasks to multiple users

Is there a way to create task list (or similiar maybe issues tracking list), then assign the entire list of tasks to a single user?  So if I were to add a new user to the site, I could assign a this list of Tasks to the user (Im a thinking like a templated custom list) for them to complete? I am using WSS 3.0.

I only see this as a 1 to 1 now, one task for 1 user.  I have seen where I can assign more that 1 user to a task, but the task is shared by the users.  I need the tasks to be assigned to each users separately.

Users who do not have permissions to access InfoPath 2007 web based form can view the form if someon

I have a SharePoint Form Library with an InfoPath form published to the form as the default template. The form library has several forms in it that have line item permissions. This is supposed to restrict who can view the form. If the user who has had their permissions removed navigates to the form through SharePoint the form does not display (this is expected behavior). However if the user is provided a link to the URL for the form then the can view the InfoPath form.

Here is an example of the link: http://moss.companyname.com/test/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/test/InfoPath%20Test/system2009-10-23T12_23_13.xml&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fmoss%2Ecompanyname%2Ecom%2Ftest%2FInfoPath%2520Test%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&DefaultItemOpen=1

In addition I tried to put the forms into a folder and restirct the permissions on the folder, but the restricted users can still view the form.

When I removed the users permission to the form library then they got an error message.

I also tested this with a SharePoint list item and restricted permissions and this did not allow the user to view the item.

--HOW TO -- Only allow logged in users to view Default.aspx, and About.aspx

Hello there guys,

First of all, thank you for the attention.

I am having some trouble, I am very new to asp.net, and the last problem I had, I spent about 59 hours trying to solve, Now I have a new one !

:D well, I guess this is part of the learning process...

Well, in Visual Studio 2010, I clicked New Website. @ C# language, ... The template it gives is pretty nice, it creates a database MDF file, and a login/register setup ready to go !...

You guys can see it live AT CLICK HERE ...

Everything is working, well at least here at the local machine...

There are 2 pages in there, Default.aspX, and About.aspx ... I want to allow ONLY logged in users to view those 2 pages...

I tryed a few things, added my account to a role called ADMIN,

In the web.cong I changed Allow"*" to allow"ADMIN" ... still didn't work..

Also, I was trying to avoid using roles for now, and I was trying to find a way to do this for individual pages in the same directory as well... If possible with out touching the web.config file...

But for now, every way will already help me in any future implementations...

Once again, thank you for your attention..

Thanksssss 10000X

Assign task to multiple users after workflow approval

What I'm looking to do is after a document has been approved through a workflow, I want a task to be automaticly sent to multiple users to ensure that everyone has reviewed the document. It needs to be a single task that is not completed until each person has signed it off. Is there an easy way to do this or is it going to involve some extra programming? I am a very novice user when it comes to sharepoint so any advice is apperciated.

Thanks in advance!

Allow non-admin users view site and list settings (delegate control feature?).

I wonder if anyone knows of a way to allow regular users to view settings for sites, lists and document libraries (e.g. versioning, navigation, library template settings) without granting them permissions to change these settings?

Why do I need it?

This is to allow 1st line support to gather some information and identify possible causes of user issues without having to escalate every call to users with admin or site owner permissions.

A user logs a call saying he's uploaded a document but other users cannot see it. Now,

GridView Parent Child View with JQuery Effects

I was just checked how to add some more cool effects to the GridView control using JQuery. In this post I will display parent-child data in the GridView control with some help of the wonderful JQuery library.

Let's first populate the GridView control.
