Calendar Overlay and Exchange

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm having issues with Calendar Overlays and Exchange. I try to add an overlay to an already existing calendar (containing Tasks).

For the Outlook web access url the value is: https://mywebsite/owa

for the Exchange Web Service URL it is: http://mywebsite/ews/exchange.asmx

When I try to view the calendar I get the following error:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'mywebsite'. (3c7bda6a-4344-47e1-aa35-7210d7df36e4)

After some poking around I found some information about the Root Certificate, so I downloaded that and added it to the Managed Trust in Central Admin.

The Error above still shows up, and I get the following error in my Event Viewer:

Sharepoint 2010 Calendar Overlay with Exchange 2007

I'm trying to add calendar overlays in Sharepoint 2010 however the OWA URL's don't seem to work. Everytime I use the following url:

I get an 'Unexpected Error'. After checking through the logs, it seems to be an XML exception.

System.Xml.XmlException: '=' is an unexpected token. The expected token is ';'. Line 1, position 520

The URL's that I'm using were taken from Technet, so I can only assume that they're correct. When I put the same URL's in the brow

Exchange Calendar Overlay Functionality

Hi All,

I have an issue with the Exchange calendar overlay functionality in Sharepoint 2010.
First of all I was surprised that shared calendars weren't supported out of the box, when using the EWS connection and a specific username/password combo to access the shared calendar wouldn't have been to difficult to add to the overlay system. Since I don't have access to the source I haven't bothered to extend the functionality, but provide a custom synchronisation service to fix this for a client.

My issue now though is the current users overlayed calendar, all calendar items are appearing as "Busy" only, with no Title or Subjects visible. Is this a permissions issue? I cannot see any options relating to the current view or in the Calendar overlay settings to chaneg the display format.

Has anyone come across this before??

Many Thanks

Calendar Overlays and Exchange 2010

I'm  trying to setup a Calendar Overlay with Exchange on my project calendar.  I can browse the OWA URL and the Exchange Web Service  (.asmx) in Internet Explorer without any errors.  Both URLs use https and are third-party signed.  After I inupt the URLs into the Overlay config screen and save, Sharepoint attents to retrieve the calendar information and throws the follows error: "Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority" on the calendar screen. Any ideas?

What service is responsible for Calendar Overlay working correctly?

I'm having 2 issues with my SharePoint server.  User Profile Sync stuck on starting and Calendar Overlay not working. I created a calendar overlay a month ago, containing 7 other calendars and it works fine.  It currently still works if I add items to one of the 7 calendars, those items show up on the calendar with the overaly. But if I try and create a new calendar and add overlay to it - containing different calendars, nothing appears.   No calendar items from the overlay calendars that I've added. This has only started happening since my User Profile Sync stopped working - are the two related, somehow? I get no errors at all - just a blank calendar!  Frustrating!! Thanks for any help.

Calendar overlay only works on list calendar in team site?

Currently, I have a site collection with a top-level site and 7 sub-sites (all on an equal level just below the top-level site). I have created a calendar at each site.  On the top-level site, I've used calendar overlay to add the 7 sub-site calendars to its calendar.  It works just great! But if I try and edit the main page of the top-level site to add that calendar as a list item on the page, or as a web part (rather than having the user have to click on the Calendar under the Lists in the Navigation) - the overlay doesn't show up on the calendar. Why won't it work when I edit the home page and try and add it a web part or as an "existing list"? I get no errors regarding this - it just doesn't work!  Frustrating!!! Thanks in advance!

Exchange Update changed Calendar Functionality

Hi All,

After installing Exchange 2010 SP1, it appears that Sharepoint is behaving differently.  When a user edits an instance of a recurring item on a calendar, it treats this as a creation (generates an "added" email and updates the created date/time to the current date/time).

Some users receive these emails and expect that an item was added instead of just being modified (this only applies to the first instance of editing a recurring event instance).  I presume that this is due to the way that recurring events are handled in Exchange 2010?  (probably only differences from the main are stored instead of creating a different object for each instance)

Has anyone found a way to work around this and emulate the old behavior?

Exchange 2003 Inbox and Calendar webparts for MOSS 2007

I've created one Inbox and one Calendar wepbart as descibed here:

using  OWAInboxPart and OWACalendarPart (code below).

When deploying them and placing them on the same page, only one of them will show anything. It looks like the last added webpart works, while the other won't.
If any one of them is placed alone on a page, they work as expected.

Does anyone know how to make them work togheter on the same page?

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Hans Erik Storeide

SharePoint 2010 Foundation - Connecting to Exchange 2010 Calendar's

I've got a problem when trying to view additional calendars through SharePoint that my Exchange server has. The error states:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'myservername.net'. (1b1a6f32-0128-4676-90a1-9501cc6b9805).

I've tried using direct IP addresses instead for the server name with no joy. If i change the calendar path name to use the OWA extensions as (as below) i receive the same error:

Outlook Web Access URL:

Exchange Web Service URL:

I select that the type of calendar is Exchange based and i am using Exchange 2010 SP1. Both servers are running Server 2008 R2 with the latest service pack. I have tried importing root certificates from Exchange to SharePoint server with no joy. Further, i have managed to get SharePoint to send e-mails interfacing directly with Exchange (to specify site group membership etc) so communication is occuring between the two seperate servers.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Configure My Calendar in SharePoint 2003 and Exchange 2007

We have upgraded Exchange to 2007.  I change the URL on the "My Calendar" page to read http://<server>/owa.  It brings back 404 - File or directory not found.  I have even tried http://<server>/owa/?cmd=contents&module=calendar&view=monthly which works from IE.  It tells me invalid characters.  We will not be upgrading to Sharepoint and Exchange 2010 until second half of next year.  What am I doing wrong?

Can you use calendar overlays to show two Exchange 2003 conference room calendars in Sharepoint 2010

I want to use the calendar overlays to show an aggregate view of multiple conference room calendars on a single sharepoint 2010 foundation webpart.  The calendars are resource calendars held on an SBS 2003 server.  Is this possible?  I get a 404 error if I try to navigate to https://myowaserver.contoso.com/EWS/exchange.asmx with IE.  If I try the calendar I get the  following error:

Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'myowaserver.contoso.com'

These are the entries in the overlay calendar:

is SBS 2003 not supported?

Can't overlay calendar from differnet web apps with in same farm while using default zone

I have two web apps within my farm and I would like to overlay a calendar in web app1 with a calendar in web apps2 . When I click resolve for the web url while using the default zone for web app1 I get the following error: Unable to find specified web in the given URL.

I have read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2025977 and have confirmed that I am using the default zone to resolve the calendar.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this or fix this issue?

Reuse a gridview within calendar control

Hello, I have a calendar control that will have events displayed within each cell.

I want to use a pre formatted gridview and simply bind the gridview with a dataset dynamically and display it within the cell of the specified day.

Is there a way to do that or do I have to dynamically build a gridview for every day that there is an event?

So here is the template gridview and datasource:

Trustworthy Code: Exchange Data More Securely with XML Signatures and Encryption

You can sign any kind of data using XML Signature, including part of an XML document, other XML documents, or other data of any format. However, in practice, XML signatures are most frequently used to sign other data represented in XML. In this article, the authors discuss the new standard and how you can benefit from it in your apps.
