New menu not showing when content management enabled

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
As soon as I enabled content management on a custom list, the New menu dissapeared. Also on the home page under the list, "Add a new item" link also dissapeared. Is this by design.
How can I bring that feature back.

Content and Structure Report not showing all items

I have an environment where the Site Owner is not seeing all items pending approval when they access that view from the root node in the Content And Structure section.

We can see pending items in this view if they access some of the lower level nodes in the tree structure, just not from the top node.

I've noticed that the second level nodes are not inheriting permissions from the root node, but I'm not sure if that is relevant. I've also checked the CAML for the Pending Approval view and it has not been altered in any way.

Any ideas?

Tables not showing in Management Studio Express

Hi all

(needing help!)

Have used Visual Web Developer 2008 to make ASP application, with SQL server 2008 R2 Express for database. Works very nicely.

However, when I come to use Management Studio Express 2008 R2, I cannot see all my tables.

The ones I CAN see were created by the MS script that creates membership tables (and are called dbo.aspnet_membership etc), presumably because the owner of the tables was specified as 'dbo'.

The ones I can't see from Management Studio are the ones I created. I never specified an owner.

I think this is a permissions issue, but I can't fathom it. There's only ever been me on my development machine (laptop) doing it all, hence always the same log ins.

Running Management Studio as Adminstrator doesn't help.

I can't even ask Management Studio who own's the tables that I can't see because Management Studio can't see them so rejects the script.

Any ideas/links very (very) welcome !

**** Actually, it is even wierder. The tables in Management Studio have full structure, but are empty. But if I look at them in Visual Basic 2008 they are full !!!  And...if I create a table in Management Studio it does not appear at all in Visual Basic, and likewise, a table created in Visual Basic does not appear at all in Management

How To: Refresh Menu or Toolbar content

Hey all...in my WPF main window, I have a Menu defined with several elements and it is using a Markupextension to do the binding of the content.   <MenuItem Header="{extension:method Label}"/>   I want to be able to re-initialize the menu so it refreshes the labels. (I also need to do this on other elements as well) I saw some examples using WeakEvents to do this but it looks like the menu or window has to be bound to it. When I tried this, my EventManager kept on dropping the listener after two passes. Is there another way to do this other than coding it: mnuItem.Header = DomyFunction("Content")   TIA AndrewAndrew MacNeill (MVP VFP)

Repeating table not showing content following a rule refresh

Background info: I have a form where I populate employee info from the GetUserProfileByName ws. From there I populate its manager info from another web service call (seperate data connections).  Once the manager is populated, through rules, I'm populating the first approver. All this is done at form load through rules. The approvers node is defined as follows and is displayed on the form as a repeating table:  participants (group)    approver (repeating group)       ApproverName       ApproverLogin       ApproverEmail Problem: The repeating table is not showing any content even though I'm using an alert to show that I do in fact have one row in there. As a side note, I know the table is working because if the user elects to delegate approval to another user (through the people picker), the table shows these approvers correctly.  Anyone as any clue what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Reports are not showing on management studio for SQL 2008 reporting services

I just did the side by side upgrade for reproting server from 2005 to 2008 and everything was fine. But when I login to the reporting server from management studio I am not able to see the report server folders like we do in SQL 2005. The only think i saw is jobs, security and shared schedules. I dont even see any jobs under this jobs folder. Do i need to do anything after the upgrade to be able to see the reports, subscriptions and data sources from the management studio? please let me know. Thanks!  kp

View All Site Content Showing the wrong number of items

NOTE:  Similar post also had no answer: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointecm/thread/f775ba0d-648f-4be3-9017-78539915b281/ I am the Site Collection Administrator/and also tried logging in using Farm Account.  I go into View All Site Content and I show 15 documents.  When you actually go to the All Items view (and I double-checked, no filtering), you only find 9 documents.  Versioning is not turned on.  I am a developer, so I also used the Web Service to try to troubleshoot.  The Lists.asmx web service shows an Item Count of 15 using the GetList method.  However, using the GetListItems method, the item Count reports 9 items, which is what I see in my browser. Is there an stsadm command that I can run that will "true up" this number being reported in View All Site Content? Thanks in advance. - Update -  MOSS 2007 v 3.0 server farm.

Content Query WebPart (CQWP) not showing thumbnails of the rollup image

I have set up my CQWP to display pages from a newssite. This is working fine, but my rollup images is showing in full size. As I have understood, SharePoint has the ability to scale down pictures and showing them as thumnails.

In the "Fields to display:" I have set the path to "Thumbnail; Rollup Image; ".

cannot see the maintenance plans menu on the management menu

i've read a few related themes, but i cannot find the one, i hope you can answer my question.

I just cannot see the title to create a maintenance plan. i've read you create one following this steps:

3. In SQL Server Management Studio, expand the Management node, rightclick Maintenance Plans, and then select Maintenance Plan Wizard.
4. On the Maintenance Plan Wizard welcome page, click Next.
5. On the Select Plan Properties page, type a name for the maintenance plan, click Next.

the problem is that i don't have de Maintenance Plans title. My menu node expands like this:

    ->SQL Server Logs

i need to create a new maintenance plan, but only appear the old m. plan.

thks. Diana

Pages showing different static content

I have two aspx pages that both use the same master page. Master page is more or less the default from VWD 2010 web application (Site.Master).

So both page A and B have the same:

<%@ Page Title="Sample web app" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true"
    CodeBehind="PageA/B.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebApp.PageA/B" %>

<asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent">,
    <link href="Styles/Table.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

<asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent">

The difference when shown in web browsers is (tested on Chrome and Firefox) that PageB looks like it has one more blank row/space on top of the page. How is this possible?

Menu not showing up on the page.

I'm hoping someone here could help me figure what might be happening here. I'm trying to implement a menu system using CSSFriendly Adaptors.

To start with I referenced the CSSFriendly.dll into the Bin folder then added the menu.css and CSSmenu.css to the css folder. and used the following web.config file. Then I created a simple page with a menu control

The page loads with the menu system and all works great as it should.

<?xml version="1.0"?>

        <!--Sets path for JavaScript files for CSSAdapter-->
        <add key="CSSFriendly-JavaScript-Path" value=""/>

        <compilation debug="false" strict="false" explicit="true" />
                <clear />
                <add namespace="System" />
                <add namespace="System.Collections" />
                <add namespace="System.Collections.Specialized" />
                <add namespace="System.Configuration" />
                <add namespace="System.Text" />
                <add namespa

Publising page content is not showing

I have a publishing page that is associated with a page layout and a page content type. It shows perfectly fine when I view it as an owner of the site. But not when I am a viewer. Please notice that the page is already published. When I associated this publishing page with another page layout, with a very similar page layout and page content type (just 3 more extra fields), this page will show even to a viewer, do you have any idea what would go wrong or missing?

Thanks in advance. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

SQL Server Management Stduio 10.0 (SSMS) Window Menu Listing Open Windows

In SSMS for 2008 the windows menu listing of open files is inconsistent.

When only windows that have previously been saved to a file are opened the Window menus lists as follows:
File Name - Connection (Username(spid)) - This is perfect since the file name is at the front and it's easy to identify a window

However, when an unsaved window is open (typically named SQLQueryX.sql) along with these saved windows the Window menu lists as follows:
File Name - Connection (Username(spid)) - Only for the first (active) window
C:\...\Connection (Username(spid)) - For remaining windows - this is annoying since we can't easily identify the windows by file name

Can't find "Recent files" in File menu SQL Management Studio 2008

After installing SSMS 2008 the menu item File->Recent files   disappeared. I tried to add this item via Tools-> Customize. Now I can see it in menu "File" but it still doesn't work. I click on it but there is no result. What should I do to fix this problem. It is very inconvenient to open files with File->Open->File.
