Site Collection Usage Summary: No Data Available

Usage analysis processing is enable for my farm in both Central Administration and in the SSP.

I've checked TImer Job Status and the three timer jobs responsible for doing the log analsis are all running.

I've also checked the log file locations and the log files are being generated.

Yet when I browse the "Site collection usage summary" report (SpUsageSite.aspx) I get the following:

No data is available for this report. Usage analysis might have been enabled only recently, or there might have been insufficient usage to result in any values for the report.

My farm is running 2007 Enterprise SP2 (

Can someone confirm if this issue was fixed with one of the CU's that were issues post-SP2?

SQL Server 2008 Data Collection Queries

I am trying to find information on the new Data Collection functionality in SQL Server 2008. Mainly around how to properly query the tables..etc for building custom reports. Anyone find any good books, CBTs or have any queries already written? Everytime I try to search on the subject I just get a bunch of tutorials on how to configure it, which really doesn't require much of a tutorial if you use the wizard.John M. Site Web Analytics reports and Site Collection Web Analytics reports show no data

Although I have enabled all the web analytics and health data collection option and can see that usage data files are being created both my Site Web and Site Collection analytics reports show no activity. I have checked the Sharepoint 2010 documentation and it basically states only thing to do is enable the respective option under the 'Configure web analytics and health data collection' section.

WCF service for collection XML data

Dear all,

I need to build a WCF service which will provide to an aplpication data fro an XML file.
The data collection from the XML file is as follow :

In the file above the number items in the collection if  <GOODS>  can be over 400 items.

I have never build a WCF service based on XML source file , I was more doing it with database, so I was wondering if any could guide me a bit on the approach to build in order to collect them efficiently and build the data layer correctly

- How build the WCF interface to be able to querry the XML file ?
- How to querry efficently the XML itesm in order to collect correct info ?

For exemple GetCompanyInfo() should return items <CODE>,<CODE_SITE>,<NO_ASP>

dynamic listing of data collection

I'm trying to achieve a dynamic contact lists/info.
 > From the Left Column, it may contain three hyperlinks that could update the list of contact lists
for a specific department office. And on the Right column, I'm planning to have a loop over

Any references / suggestions are greatly appreciated.

WCF: Problem throwing FaultException after touching Exception.Data collection

My client code receives a CommunicationException if my server code touches the Exception.Data collection.  If my server code avoids the Exception.Data collection, then my client code works (i.e. it receives my custom exception as expected).

I have reduced this problem down to two simple examples (see below)..one that works (A), one that does not (B).  The only difference between the two examples is that in example B, the code looks at the Exception.Data.Count property.

Why would touching the Exception.Data collection cause my client code to receive the CommunicationException?

Is there any way to avoid this?

Thank you in advance for an consideration you may give to this question.

A: Working Example: Client Receives CustomException
  throw new CustomException("This is a custom exception.");
 catch (CustomException ex)
  throw new FaultException<CustomException>(ex, new FaultReason(ex.Message), new FaultCode("Receiver"));

B: Non-working Example: Clien

Does whole site collection data stored only on database

Hi All,

Does the whole data belonging to site stored in database or part of the data also gets stored some where else? We have restored a content database but few stes are missing on new server and when we take the backup of site on new sevrer the backup comes as 100 KB , but if we take the site backup on new server the backup size comes as 6GB, tht is a big difference. So i am a dba and have no idea on how the sharepoint stores the data. Please advice...

How do I limit size of Usage ( Usage and Health Data Collection ) database size please?

How do I control the size of my usage database ( Usage and Health Data Collection database ) in SP2010 so it never exceeds a certain size?

Its not clear how you do this - does anyone know? I want to set it so it never exceeds 100 GB in size but logs pretty much everything.

Thanks in advance,

Data Collection Reports

1. Is there an alternate way/method to pulling Data Collection reports such as using cmd or tsql? if yes, how?

2. Please guide me through creating custom reports on MDM.

3. Please provide scripts that can help with creating custom reports.

Thank you.

External Data Option Not at Site Collection Level

Hello all,

It appears that I can only create an External Data field at the library level for a content type. Can anyone validate if this is true. Following a good practice of creating all content types and site columns at the Site Collection I used for my Content Type Hub allows me to create content types/columns only once and have them sent across to any libraries they have been added to.

In the current scenario, if I need to use a Content Type with External Data, in lets say, 12 other libraries, I have 12X the work!
