Sharepoint Search Performance issue

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi i am using Sharepoint 2007  Search and we are currently doing a performance test on the search. The issues is that once we add more concurrent users (more than 10) though the search results are displayed to the user  the CPU usage goes beyond the threshold value . Can any one tell me if there might be some thing which might be causing this. Some one else suggested that there migh be some services running on the server which are not actually required. But didnt mention which once specifically.

Details of the share Point server :

·         OS                          :  Microsoft Windows server 2003

SSRS Report Sorting issue in Dashboard created usign Performance point services in sharepoint 2010

I have created a report in SSRS and this report is integrated within a dashboard created using performance point services in sharepoint 2010.

The report is a simple tabular report with 5 coulmns and interactive sorting is enabled on each of them.

Sorting works when the report is viewed separately but gives "Report Server Error" when I try to sort (on any column) inside the dashboard.

I have user IP instead of host name in the report server url.

Please help.

Hi Guys,

I have a list which has more than 5000 records,it has 45 fields which includes some 12 lookup fields. I have used this list to display records using webparts and also used to display records in custom web pages.

The retrieval of the records has become slow now, initially i have paged and got some improvement, but again after a month the display has become slow now.

How do i work out on this performance issue. I get close to 750 records per month.

Please give me some tips to tackle the performance issue.

Outlook 2010 / Sharepoint authenthication issue

Hi all,

I'm using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 64bit.

My company uses a hosted Sharepoint server (I guess it's Sharepoint 2010). There's a team calendar, which I would like to connect to my Outlook 2010. Linking it to Outlook works fine until it tries to update the calendar with the Sharepoint server. I shows the following error:

Error (0x80070005) when running the task "SharePoint": "You are not authorized to view the SharePoint list (team calendar). Contact the administrator of SharePoint site. HTTP 401."

So this tells me, I'm not authorized to connect - which is quite clear because Outlook never asked my for any username or password.

Funny thing is when I try to add an internet calendar (Right mouse click on calendars, Add calendar, Internet calendar) and use the url of the sharepoint list, it asks me for username and password, but then fails to add the calendar, as it isn't a webcal (which is OK).

BUT: As Outlook at this moment has the username and password, the exisiting Sharepoint calendar synchronizes correctly. This works until Outlook is being restarted.

Does anyone have an idea why I'm not asked for any authentication? Maybe there's some setting I haven't found yet? It works with trying to add the webcal any time when I start Outlook, but t

sharepoint 2007 indexing issue

when we do incremental crawl, the items in index start decreasing and the error count remains the same. so it is hard to find what is causing the index items to reduce. can anyone help please. i had to pause the active crawl because of this index item decrease.

I have checked the following:

1) there is no space issue

2) no credential issue

What I found a bit fishy is that:

1) in the log, i got ->

a)get REGKEY_FLTRDMN_MS_TO_IDLE, using default - _File:\office\source\search\search\gather\fltrdmn\fltrdaemon.cxx Line:323

b) Server Office Server Shared Services 6pls Medium Cache blocked for shared object '1dd1db1d-8a07-4e27-9249-b7d328818fa2' of type 'Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchSharedApplication'

Ingest google Search Index into Sharepoint 2007

Hi Folks

I am wondering  if there is a way to ingest google search index into SharePoint index such that when people search via SharePoint they see the Google results too… incorporated/federated inline with the SP results (not as a separate "box" ).

We have Google search in our environment and also share-point search. Share-point search for sharepoint site but Google search is for all other environments. Now i am thinking if we ingest the Google search index into share-point then may be its great deal to provide user a platform to search everything on one place.
