Windows 7, Office 2007, and WSS 3.0: Losing file path when saving to Document Library.

A client of ours recently purchased 5 desktops with Windows 7 and Office 2007.  They use Sharepoint to share all documents for their company. The computers that have Windows XP on them can browse the Sharepoint site, open documents (read only or edit), and chose to Save or Save As.  A new window pops open with their current file path of the Sharepoint Document Library so they can save the file in the same folder they opened it from.  I have tested this with Office 2003 and 2007 (Word and Excel) on XP and it always works. The 5 new desktops running Windows 7 cannot do this.  When a user opens a document by browsing to it from Internet Explorer and chooses to Save or Save As, they are kicked back to their last successful save point (usually My Documents or Desktop). The current work around is mapping a drive to the root Document Library directory and having them traverse through the folders to save it back in the original location. I've tried changing the Check Out save settings in Word 2007 and Excel 2007 to edit directly on the server, but I run into the same problem.  I've also made sure that IE sees the site as a Local Intranet site and Protected Mode is off. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Link from Document Library to UNC Path

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to create a link from a document library to a UNC path?

I need to establish links to resources in an existing document repository, but Sharepoint presents the following message when attempting to add the link "Enter a valid document name and URL. Valid URLs must begin with 'http:' or 'https:'"

Thanks in advance.

Outlook "Save as" in document library with all custom column

I want to put my Outlook 2007 email in my sharepoint document library (moss 2007).
To do that, I do "Save As" in Outlook. In "My Network Places" I put the url of my library.
Then, in some cases, my email is saved directly. And in other cases, outlook opens me the form to inform the different meta-data "web file properties" (
that's what I want) . it does not save the field values. It takes the default values of columns. Same required columns

However, in any case, the metadata are stored in sharepoint.

Do you use this method?
What configuration of my document library must have that outlook I am proposing to fill the metadata? (Docume

Retrieval of the XML document from the following location is not authorized

I have created and successfully uploaded an InfoPath 2007 template to my sharepoint server. It works perfectly fine - submits form to the library up to a moment when I want to view submitted form. First time it showed error "Retrieval of the XML document from the following location is not authorized" and after that it just shows "This form has been closed". It is really important for me atm as I am converting my company's hr forms and person responsible for approval needs to be able to view submitted forms in the browser.

Using , want to restrict access to file .wmv

Hi all,  I want to secure a particular set of files in a folder by role type.  I have the following entry (See below)...I notice this doesn't work (I.e., it doesn't secure the file by Role Type..anyone can access the file).  I've read that I need to map the .WMV extension to the ASp.Net DLL.  Can somebody give me some details on how to do that?  (I'm a newbie).

Thanks in advance.

Document Library integration with WSS 3.0 and Outlook 2007

Regarding a WSS 3.0 implementation (no MOSS), I have gotten some partial answers, and some contradictory answers on this topic:

Outlook 2007/2010 - Document Library integration.

Can I 'drag and drop' a document into a Sharepoint Document library by way of Outlook ?

From Desktop onto Document Library in Folder List within SharePoint Lists information store ?

Sharepoint2010:Upload multiple document and connect to outlook :owssupp.dll & stssync

My first question went un-answered but I solved in after some midnights, now this is my second question, I am beginning to think SharePoint2010 is fantastic but is lacking in real support.

I am using SharePoint2010 , accessing from internet on Windows7(64bit) and Office 2010(64bit) notebook, While trying to access iver internet, Multiple upload of documents and Connect to Outlook are greyed out even after placing the URL in the trusted sites. Afte rmuch digging up it points to OWSSUPP.DLL and STSSYNC, which are supposed to help in these function. In Office 2010 I can't find this DLL and IE8 (64bit) does not have the STSSYNC active X loaded in my managed-add-in nor did it prompt me to download this active x.

The big question here is can some one help be shed light on this, what's the point if all on OWSSUPP.DLL are talking on Office 2007 when Office 2010 is in the market.

Sent To location modifies document

When using the Custom item Send To Location feature of a Document Library, the item's Last Modified datestamp gets updated in the source location. As I like to start a workflow on this event (that deletes the document from the source location, so effectively moving it), could anyone tell me what field has changed that triggers an item modification in this case? I tried turning on version history on this Document Library, however no new version is created - so I am confused.
Thanks, Sander

Document Library Synchronisation with Outlook 2007 - Subfolder Synchronisation Fails

Hi there!

We have a document library of about 2 GB (approx. 3000 files) with nested subfolders (migrated to MOSS 2007 from a fileserver). Generally we have no problem to take all files offline (after selecting "Mark to download" in Outlook 2007). Also new files are taken offline without any problems automatically.

But when we create a new subfolder within the document library those new subfolders and files are not synced to Outlook. The users then have to manually right-click on the document library in Outlook and select "Mark to download" again. After a click on "Send/Receive" all the new folders and files are synced.

Is there a way to make sure, that also new subfolders are synced automatically?

Thanks in advance!
