ssrs 2008 reports Datasource error in Test server..

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi ,

i Have upgraded my Reports from Report server  VS 2005 to  VS 2008 .

My reports works fine in local, development & test server.

After Ugrading to 2008 it works fine in local server & devlopement serverr.

When i deployed to Test server i am trying to access my reports i am getting below errors,

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)

Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors ..

i checked the Datasource conncetion properties..its pointing to correct Test database only..

My reports are windows integrated...

Now it works in srs 2005 developement & test server. For same properties it works in dev server,  it  doesn't works in srs 2008 test server.

Why? Can anyone give me some idea...?

[SSRS 2008 R2]Report Builder Access error-The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

Hello,        I am able to login Web Service URL and report manager using computer name and report builder is also working fine.  http://RPTSRV/reportserver   (RPTSRV is report server name. web service url working fine. all accessible) http://RPTSRV/reports  (report manager working fine and all accessible ,report builder too) It means I am able to access everything locally right? http://rs.test.abc.com/reportserver  (web service url working fine. all accessible)  http://rs.test.abc.com/reports    (Report manager working fine and all accessible accept report builder)(I carefully checked the link and its taking rs.test.abc.com/reportserver.....)     when I click on reportbuilder button in report manager it shows me error dialog box with following error log!! I tried from local and remote computer too but gives the same error both side. I am not sure but I am just thinking is this double hop kerberos security issue? Please help me to solve this problem. I am finding solution from last 4 days. softwares required / installation steps for using SSRS 2008 along with SQL server 2005 as DataSource

I want to use SSRS 2008 to develop reports, but SQL server 2005 should be used as datasource, so I assume that,

1) MS Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 should be installed to get SSRS 2008 and BIDS

2) SQL server 2005 should be installed and in "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" the Database section should point to SQL server 2005

Please suggest whether the approach is correct or not, if not please give me the correct way to achieve it.

Printing Landscape oriented reports with SSRS 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2

I am having issues when I print reports with SSRS 2008. We have an web application that uses the Report Viewer control to preview our Reports in a popup window. The preview page shows the report in the correct orientation and so does any report that has been exported to PDF or Excel file.

The problem arises when we print the report. For some reason any report set to landscape is still being printed in Portrait orientation. The reports have their heights and width properly set, i.e., for portrait reports we have the layout set to 8.5in x 11in and for landscape reports we have the layout set to 11in x 8.5in.

I have done some research and I did not get a conclusive answer, it seems that this happens because of a bug or maybe because how my ReportViewer object in the aspx page is being set.

I would deeply appreciate any extra info you guys can provide.

Error upgrading SQL Server 2008

i was normally using VS2005 and SQL server 2005...

i upgraded to SQL Server 2008... and then...

i could not build my project anymore... because of this error:

Server 2008 R2 -> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error mess

So I am using the aspnet_regiis.exe tool to encrypt sections of the web.config in my asp.net applications and services.  I have done this for years successfully on Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6).  However I just moved some apps over to Windows Server 2008 R2 (with IIS 7.5) and I am now receiving the following error at runtime:

"Server was unable to process request. ---> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Bad Data."

Now I am quite familiar with this process and am stumped at what I have missed this time around.  I have done ALL of the following which typically suffices for the process on the server. PLEASE READ ALL AND DO NOT PROVIDE RESPONSES OR LINKS FOR THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE Thanks!!  Wink

  1. Imported the keys to the server using aspnet_regiis -pi  Result: Success
  2. Given FULL permission (using -full switch) using aspnet_regiis -pa to ALL of the following accounts  Result: Success
    1. ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

2008 R2 Tuning Advisor reports "Error: Exception encountered(DTAEngine)"

I am encountering an error when I try to use the SQL 2008 R2 Database Engine Tuning Advisor. I create a very simple workload (either by right-clicking a query in SSMS or by loading a file), and click Start Analysis.  In the "Consuming Workload" step DTA aborts, and in the message column displays "Error: Exception Encountered(DTAEngine)". When I click on the error message, I get a dialog box with a title of DTAEngine, and a message "Error: Exception encountered". This is a clean test environment (SQL 2008 R2 Data Center Edition 64-bit, on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, in a VM) against a local database. Any ideas about what the problem is or how to resolve it? SQL Server Network Interfaces Error 26 - while failing over SQL Server 2008 R2

Before I explain the issue I am facing, I would like to say that I did read the post at  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx but in my case the problem is transient (lasts for approximately two minutes after a failover) so items 1-3 in the list of troubleshooting steps do not seem to make sense. As to 4 and 5, the named instances use non-default ports (2433 and 3433 respectively), so I do not know how to tailor the PortQry command for that. I tried  portqry.exe -n ServerA,2433-p UDP -e 1434 and  portqry.exe -n ServerA,2433 -p UDP -e 2434 and it failed both times with a "Failed to resolve name to IP address" while the server was up and serving database requests The same thing happened when I tried it with the failover server as well. ***The issue I am facing*** I am using Enterprise Library 4.1 to connect to a SQL Server 2008 R2 database with a mirror. My connection string itself is as below (with dummy values for all fields): "Data Source=ServerA;Failover Partner=ServerB;Initial Catalog=DBName;User ID=uid;Password=pwd;Connect Timeout=5" Sample .NET code is as below (with modifications to instantiate all variables locally to provide context): SqlDatabase db = new SqlDatabase(ConnectionString); SqlConnection cn = (SqlConnection)db

BootstrapExtension.ExecuteWorkflowAction error while installing SQL Server 2008 R2

After installing Visual Studio 2010, I found that I could no longer open SQL Management Studio.  I could not even uninstall them because the uninstall was dying.   So I manually removed sql server from my system and now I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. report viewer error / visual web developer 2008 / sql server 2008 / report viewer add on / win7 x64

hi, i decided to export my local site to iis today, the process wasn't smooth.   anyway. i was able to access my site, the db tables are working as i am able to create new records and retrieve them. my main problem now is with the report object. i've tried the work around found here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2002980.. it helped sort of. i used to have only a big page of error before i did the work around, now i am able to see half of the report (the report interface) but the contents, the field are filled with 404 errors. any idea how i can fix this??

Schedule reports with integrated authentication SSRS 2008

Hi All,  Having an issue with SSRS 2008 at the moment, trying to setup subscriptions. Our system is configured so that any one of 10 users can login to the SSRS website using their windows domain account, and then launch report builder to design and save reports.  This all works very well, however, they have a problem when trying to setup subscriptions - the famous "Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored....." What the message says is true - the credentials are not stored as they are supplied by the user when they login to report builder. Is the /any/ workaround at all that doesn't involve storing the credentials?  It seems totally crazy that they cannot be prompted for them when setting up the subscription.  For this application its 100% essential to make the user provide their credentials when running reports, because they each see a filtered subset of the data in the report model (this is controlled DB side depeding on the login account), so their domain account needs to be passed to SQL server to enable this filtering to work.  If we saved their credentials then they would see all the data..and thats nasty. The only workaround I can come up with would be to create  a separate datasource for each user and upload a separate model, but thats really nasty to be hones

Best practice for user defined error messages in SQL Server 2005/2008 --Need help

My requirement is to setup a standard practice for our team in handling DB erros and also  user defined messages. We are handling exceptions using Raiseerror method with in Try and Catch blocks.  For user defined message, we are using Sp_addmessage to add our application specific error/warning messages with error codess>80000.  Ex: 80001 | Company name already exists. please check. Here is the sample code ********************************************************************* CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_CompanyProfile_insert]  -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here  (@company_name VARCHAR(50),  @company_code VARCHAR(3),  @user_id INT  ) AS BEGIN  -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from  -- interfering with SELECT statements.  SET NOCOUNT ON;  BEGIN TRY -- Begin Try Block      -- Validate company name   IF EXISTS (SELECT company_id FROM companyprofile WHERE company_name = @company_name)    RAISERROR(90021, 16, 1)      INSERT INTO companyprofile (company_name,       company_code,       createdby)   VALUES(@company_name,     @company_code,     @user_id)    END TRY  -- End Try Block &

SSRS 2008 SP1 - Enabling "My Reports" allows users delete reports in folders they should not be able

Issue: Users that have “My Reports” SSRS Role assigned to them can delete reports in other “shared” folders. My understanding was that they will be able to do the tasks specified only  in the “My Reports” workspace not everywhere. I have “My Reports” enabled via SSMS. Users have “My Reports” role assigned to them at the root level. My SSRS Role “My Reports” has only the following tasks assigned: 1.       View Reports 2.       Manage reports 3.       View Folders 4.       Manage Folders To test, I'm using Development version of SQL Server 2008 SP1. Thanks in advance, Martina
