memberships web part not showing memberships

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi all,

We are using MOSS 2010.

The My Sites area offers a web part called "My Memberships" (memberships.dwp).
I have copied this to our portal site collection and am using it on the homepage.

After doing user profile imports and full search crawls the web part however is not correctly showing user memberships.
Sometimes it shows all, sometimes it shows a few, sometimes it shows none.

Can anyone please advise?

"no memberships" problem for ~70% of users

I am stumped!  I've read all the posts and blogs I can find on this stupid thing.  We have not done a deleteoldsites 0 yet )or any stsadm commands really) Profile Properties show that the syncs are working, there's nothing in the sync logs stating they are not working, just a few warnings for accounts we've deleted.  Both Incremental and Full Imports are working, the last full was this morning at 4am. stsadm -o sync -listoldsites 0 gives 1 single result, which was dated about 6 hours before I ran the command, so its not real old. Also I have one user who has the same username, but a new SID for his account... he doesn't have a My Site, and gets an error when he tries to auto-create one.   Accounts that have been deleted from AD are also not having their names removed from "All People". Then there's the handfull of accounts that look fine - thought I can't say for sure if changes are being propagated.  I just made a new Universal Distro List in AD and added myself to it.  I'll see if it shows up.  Sadly I don't have access to the SSP Admin pages, I have access to about 90% of the administration in Sharepoint, just not the SSP pages for whatever reason.

Search Results Web part not showing all results

Hello, I have an issue with the people search results web part not showing all the results that exist for a particular query. The query in question returns 106 results, and it is showing 50 per page, but the paging bar only goes up to page 2, and the results summary says it is showing "x of 100 results". If I manually change the query string to say start=61 instead of start=51 for page 2, it will show me the last 6 people, and the search summary will say "showing 57-106" Why is it not showing me the option for a page 2? When I perform a similar query that returns 140 results, it will show me all three pages correctly. I have tried turning duplicate trimming off but it makes no difference either. Any ideas why this is happening? Thank you

Why memberships display nothing?

I have SharePoint 2010 Server Ent based portal. I have enabled MySite. I see my profile, organization chart, my contents, tags, but memberships looks empty. I also added web part in public site of the portal. Membership Web part is empty. I should be member of Portal owner group etc. Problem exists in 2 different environment that I recently installed manually without configuration wizard. There is 1 environment where I used configuration wizard and membership is correctly displayed. What I need to do to display memberships? Kenny_I

Web Part not showing up for one user

I have a MOSS 2007 based intranet. On the home page of the site, I have a web part that is just a bulleted list of quick web links to internal and external resources. For instance, I have a bullet item for internal resources, and under that I have links to our we based billing system, the account management system, and the IP security camera. I have another bullet for News, and under that are links to major newspaper and other news websites. For some reason, one of my users sees eevrything esle on the page, except that web part. She has the ability to edit much of the content on that site, so if I have her go into edit mode for the home page, the web part appears. If she subsequently exits edit mode, the web part remains. But if she closes Internet Explorer and re-opens it, the web part is missing again. This is the same, irresepctive of which client machine she is on, whether it is her workstation, laptop, or Terminal Server, and whether it is with Internet Explorer 7 or 8. Any ideas?

SharePoint 2010 My Sites - Memberships and SharePoint Documents not working

Not able to display Memberships as well as "SharePoint Documents" in My Site/My Profile even if user is in default Members group of some site in a web application.  Explicitly ran the User Profile to SP Sync jobs multiple times - job says "succeeded" but nothing happens.

Appreciate any advice in this regard.

Removing Distribution lists from 'Memberships' section of Profile Page

We are using SharePoint 2010 with User Profile Service and My Site enabled. And we do not want to display 'Distribution Lists' in the Membership's section of Profile Page.

We have done UPS -> Manage Policies -> Distribution Lists (Edit) ->

Policy Setting - Disabled

Default Privacy Policy - Only me. (Because we did not find other suitable option)

But still DL's are appearing in the Profile Page.

Show all my site memberships - sharepoint 2010

So I saw the memberships web part on the Mysite, and I was very disappointed to see it only finds sites that I am strictly in the auto-generated "Member" group. I understand there is some reason why they didn't grab any of the other groups but I need to figure out how to get all the sites I am a member, owner, and visitor of. If I have to do SQL development so be it, just hoping someone on the SP dev team thought this one through and forgot to document it :)

Custom Managing Memberships, Users, UsersInRoles And Profiles

Hello forum,

I've been using the CreateUserWizard to create my users as well as to assign them roles/permissions.  My problem is that, once created, I have no idea how to edit or delete their details without using  the Asp.net Website Administration Tool.  Where can I get some extensive but easy to understand literature on the subject?

Thank you

MySite: Edit Memberships link does nothing

When I click on the "Edit Memberships" link in MySite (via "My Profile" / Memberships tab), nothing happens.

What's it supposed to do? Why is it doing nothing?

My memberships not updating after renaming alternate access mappings and IIS hostheader

After upgrading fram MOSS2007 to Sharepoint 2010 via the database attach model "My Memberships"on MySite are not being updated.

During the update session, our host headers and alternate access mappings had af different name than they were supposed to have after a successfull upgrade. This was to insure that users had access to the old platform in a read only state while upgrading.

After a successfull upgrade the old farm was closed down and alternate access mappings and IIS hostheaderes were nenamed to their normal/old names on the 2010-farm.

However, in the time where the 2010-farm was temporarely named the "My memberships"-list was generated with these URLs. After renaming the my memberships-list is not being updated - even not with new memberships on the new farm. By looking into old threads I have tried this to resolve the problem, but without any luck:

  1. stsadm -o deleteolddatabases 0
  2. checking the timer jobs regarding profile sync i CA (ok)
  3. reset of the search index and initiating a full crawl
  4. a full profile import from AD

All without any luck.

Creating a web-part in sharepoint showing charts connected through a database

here's what I intend to do: 1) Import data from a database(through creating a connection to database) 2) create a graph or chart using the values from the database(in excel) 3) then import that chart to the sharepoint site as a web-part. My question is how to accomplish the task. (all the three steps) So, whenever the values are updated in the database, the sharepoint site will be automatically updated. Any help would be greatlly appreciated.

Web Part Custom Property Text Values Showing Up on Page

I've created a basic Web Part in a .wsp and defined two custom web properties.

However, whatever value I place in these text values when in the edit mode show up on the Page beneath the Web Part name.  Why?  How do I not show the value of Properties outside of the Modify Property window?

Error 5566 using UserGroup.asmx to return current users SharePoint group memberships?

Hi all,

I am trying to return the groups that the current user is a member of using the Getgroupcollectionfromuser operator in data connection with InfoPath 2010. So I can use that data to determine who is able to see specific fields on the form, which will be a browser form.

I tried this way as a similar question was raised here.

When adding the data connection I use the method stated here, but select the Getgroupcollectionfromuser operator instead. But when I enter the a value in "Set sample value" and not in "Set value" I get the error below when I open a new item. I am also using a data connection to another list, that just has one field and one item, which will be used to set the conditions on the fields to hide them.

An error occurred while trying to connect to a Web service.

An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.

Log ID:5566

I have been looking around the web for a clue as to what I am not doing right, but have

WPF: If Heineken did MVVM Frameworks Part 4

MVVM is to have an instance of a particular Model (say currentPerson) inside my ViewModel (say PeopleViewModel) which is exposed to the View (say PeopleView). The View binds and edits the Model directly.

This definitely flies in the face of what most people consider to be the holy grail of MVVM pattern, but it's a fairly new pattern, so people are still finding their way with it every day, and this works for me very well. The reason I do what I do, is for the following reasons:

1.I have always had the luxury of being able to write my own UI specific Model classes. I would even do this if I was using some other Model classes first, such as LINQ to SQL or LINQ to Entity Framework. As these classes don't have everything a proper WPF Model class needs in my humble opinion. Though, they are pretty good, as they are Partial classes and use INotifyPropertyChanged/DataContract etc etc
2.I am a pragmatist and I do not like writing code for the sake of writing code. I have seen some MVVM apps where the author has had a Model with 50 properties on it, that are simply repeated in the ViewModel abstraction, where the ViewModel added nothing. On that day I decided I would never do that unless I have to.
3.I honestly see no harm in writing directly to the Model from the View, JUST SO LONG AS if the Model is InValid its data NEVER makes its way to the database. I honestly see no pro

Building Layered Web Applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 - Part 1

"Building Layered Web Applications" that shows you how to build N-Layer applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. These articles teach you how to design, build and use custom business objects in your web application. The target audience for this series are developers that are ready to make the switch from using SqlDataSource controls to ObjectDataSource controls with custom business objects. Experience with ASP.NET 2 and C# is necessary while some knowledge about object oriented design certainly helps. The design I am going to show you in these articles is a simplified version of a design you would use in a real world application. It doesn't feature all the necessary functionality your application needs, but instead focuses on the underlying concepts.
