Posted By:      Posted Date: October 18, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

The advantage of ajax is that .. insteading of loading the whole page.. it will load only update pannel. I have a update panned in my aspx page. but when i debug the application .. it goes through the full life cycle of aspx page to update the update pannel. The best thing is that .. we are not able to see any page postback from our browser end.

Please help me out in this .. Surprised

ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript

The article ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript was added by Aamir Hasan on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

One of the pain points with developing AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and other client-side behaviors is that JavaScript doesn't allow for cross domain request for pulling content. For example, JavaScript code on www.johnchapman.name could not pull content

Open different page using Ajax Modal PopUp Extender Control

$.ajax post from asp.net page and __viewstate causing call to fail

Now I know that I won't be sending viewstate and eventvalidation in my ajax calls and that I will only want to send the actual form fields for efficiency purposes but I will need to know the answer to this question, to inform the more junior members of the team and my manager, so if anyone has any answers they are most welcome.

I have a simple form as follows

AJAX Slideshow extender on Master Page

I am pretty much a novice at AJAX.  I really appreciate the How To videos for ASP.net and AJAX.<> My problem is this.  I would like to have a very simple slideshow running on my Master Page.  I can get a slideshow on my AJAX enabled .aspx pages without any problem, using the examples in the video.<>When I create a Master Page/Content pages site with an AJAX ScriptManager and SlideShowExtender on my Master Page and move the functioning slideshow code onto the Master, it does not seem to run.<>I would appreciate any input.  Thanks.  Master Page Code:<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPageTwo.master.cs" Inherits="MasterPageTwo" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="cc1" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">     <title>Untitled Page</title>     <asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="head" runat="server">     </asp:ContentPlaceHolder> </head> <body>     <fo

Master Page, web service and Ajax autocomplete extender problem.

I will appreciate very much any help about this issue.  I have been dealing with it for the last week and I couldn't detail and complete examples about this issue. The problem: I have a text box and ajax autocomplete control extender in my Master Page that it is not working at all.  When I type some characters on the text box it doesn't trigger the autocomplete. I have a web service that contains the function code. I est my code on a single Web Page (No Master Page) and it works perfectly.  Also, it works fine if I include the text box and the extender on the Content Page instead of on the Master Page.  It is important to keep the text box in the Master Page for me. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and ASP 3.5.   tHANK YOU VERY MUCH. here is my code:   MASTER PAGE. <%@ Master Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %> <%@ Register assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" tagprefix="ajax" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Data.SQLClient" %> <%@ Import Namespace = "System.Web.Script.Services" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Web.Services&

for ajax data insertion in page what is faster than innerHTML ?

I m doing an ajax work where web service will return data and on client side and I am creating html table with data. I am using var (to hold string of generated html code), do string concatinations to generate table, tr and td tags and put data in it. Than I put this html table with data into a div using innerHTML. Please note I am applying inline css in this dynamic html code. The issue I am facing is web service will return a huge amount of data. What I tested is even on local machine it took about 10-12 minutes to process (concatinating, creating tags putting data in table, applying css) 10000 rows. Stored procedure just take 3-4 seconds in returning data. Please guide me how this inbrowser processing time can be reduced ? I am doing it for speed in some wrong way ? Or is there some technique for it or some method faster than innerHTML and string concatinations ? thanks

MS Ajax web page Save As file

I have several pages in my site that are using an UpdatePanel to allow partial postbacks to step through the process of selecting options for a dynamic report.  An internal user just came to me and said "I ran this report and then clicked 'File -> Save As .mht' to save it to my desktop, and when I opened the resulting file, it was the first selection option rather than the result.

I have verified myself that this is the case.  If this particular page has for example, 4 states: 1st option, 2nd option, 3rd option, Resulting Report..  All coming from the same page, just different panels being shown for each step.  When the user is viewing the resulting report and clicks File -> Save As, the file that is saved is of the 1st option, not the results.

I know one way around this would be to add a link to the page to "Save as PDF" or whatever, and then I'd have to write the code to generate that file...  and I can do that if I need to.  I just thought that the user should also be able to Save their current page at any point by clicking Save As.

Is this possible with MS Ajax?  Maybe this is an Ajax thing, and not a MS thing?

Anybody know how to save the web page's current view (ie: what is currently visible)?

Measure Ajax call duration till page is rendered (including screen paint time)

I am using an ASP.Net AJAX application and I need to measure the performance of the AJAX call from the time it is invoked till page is rendered, including screen paint time.

I am using an update panel.

The screen paint time is critical since i want to record the time taken to render the output as well.

Exception loading page with Ajax enabled WebPart/UserControl ?

The AjaxControl Toolkit has been configured onto our SharePoint 2007 Server, however when we bring up a page with a WebPart+UserControl, we get the following exception:

[4300] Exception Loading CPI RPI WebPart: System.Web.HttpCompileException: c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\a112516a\152cc84\App_Web_cpirpicalc.ascx.57bd6353.duu1hbuu.0.cs(138): error CS0433: The type 'AjaxControlToolkit.ToolkitScriptManager' exists in both 'c:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\AjaxControlToolkit\3.5.40412.0__28f01b0e84b6d53e\AjaxControlToolkit.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\a112516a\152cc84\assembly\dl3\4bec602a\25bcac65_13efca01\AjaxControlToolkit.DLL'

The userControl+Ajax Portion of the WebPart works correctly when brought up under ASP.NET but not SharePoint.

Is there anyway to force this to go to the correct version?

Add AJAX Script Manager to Master Page?

I've read that I must add the AJAX Script Manager to the Application.Master page in order to get my custom page to render properly.   Would someone please confirm?

Secondly, can I add the markup to the application.master without messing up my existing application pages?

I can throw the proper tags around my entire container for the page and everything works great...except that I have a button on page that allows users to download a csv with the profile information for user beeing viewed. This button will not work with the ajax.
