Cannot use SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am totally and thoroughly lost about how to resolve these errors I am getting from SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio 10.50.1600.1.

I am trying to use SQL Server 2008 R2 with VS 2010 Pro, VB on a standalone Windows XP, Pro, SP3 computer.  I login to the computer as the local Administrator.  The same account I used to install SQL Server 2008 R2.

I can't attach databases when in the SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio.  When i try it, i get this message:

Cannot show requested dialog.

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio

Been around SQL Server since 7.0 days.   In SQL Server 2008 Management Studio I don't seem to be able to display Created Date for Views. I can't really believe MS have taken this away so hence my Q.   I find it useful to see Created Data to script my recently developed View and other objects.   Robert, Edinburgh    Bob as MCSD.NET 2003

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio - Summary Windows.

I am using SQL Server 2008 (10.0.1600), now came across an issue to display Summary Windows but unfortunately found that F7 (Keyboard shortcut to display summary window) is not working and even Summary windows is not available in View Menu of SQL Server Management Studio. Maybe it’s a minor issue but I failed to find solution. Thanks (in advance) for the help.

SQL server management studio 2008 freezes when running a query to Grid result

Hello, I've got problems when I run a Query to a grid result using SQL server management studio 2008 under W7 pro. When I execute the query, the first part of the grid returns, but then it freezes. The query should present a double resultset and contains approx 6100 records, devided over 2 grids. Strange enough, the query runs fine when I export to TXT or to a file. It seems though that the problem is building the grid. When it occurs I cannot end the application bij shutting down de SSMS window, but have to kill the Ssms.exe. In task manager I see only 25% CPU usage and approx 20% memory usage. Nothing exiting there I guess. Suggestions anybody? Getting Sql Server Management Studio 2008 installed on local computer

Hello, I have been trying to figure out this problem for a while now so hopefully someone can help me out - I would really appreciate it! Right now I have SQl Server Management Studio2005 installed on my computer for a SQL sever that we have. We recently got a 2008 sql server and if I remotely access the server, I can see that SQL Management Studio 2008 has been isntalled on the new server. I need to build new databases but need SQL Management Studio 2008 on my computer and I have no idea how to get it. I have a "Microsoft SQl Server 2008 R2" folder on my computer, and I have already tried clicking on "Configuration Tools" and then "SQL Server Installation center" and it isntalls a bunch of things, but none of them are "SQL Server Management Studio 2008."  I also found a link on a Microsoft website that says it's SQL Server Management studio 2008 R2 but it was just the same bunch of programs I already downloaded. How do I install Sql Server Managment Studio 2008 on my computer?! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 does not list all tables in database

When logging into SSMS 2008 to a SQL2008 database when I expand the tables in a database I only see a few tables listed.  I can login to the same instance with SSMS 2005 and all of the tables are there.  Is there a reason why this is this way?

I can do a select * from in a query window for any of the tables in the database via SSMS 2008 as well and it work fine.  It just does not display the tables.

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio locking up while not running anything

Restart Server that DB is running on

Restart workstation that SQL Server 2008 Management Studio is running on

Start SQL Server 2008 and open file I'm editing

Edit the SQL file while while monitoring memory and processor usage on the workstation

Processor starts to spike, intellisense stops working, memory usage begins to climb to an absurd amount ~7G, management studio becomes almost nonresponsive (i.e. I can type and the text takes 30 seconds to 5 minutes to show up)

After about 30 mintues, memory usage drops to around 1.5G and management studio becomes semi-usable again.  Intellisense sometimes goes back to working, sometimes everything has to be restarted again.

I've been working on this exact setup for 7 months now and this problem is new.  No, I am not executing any statements - I am editing text only.

SQL Server 2008 Management Studio?

I see that Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express with Tools has SSME 2008 already included. I have SQL Server 2008, but need SS Management Studio 2008, is that download available yet? Because I can't seem to find it.

Or should I just download Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express with Tools, and if I do, will it just overwrite the existing one or do I need to remove it?

Thanks for your help!
