SQLCE table column DefaultValues don't show up in XSD Dataset designer

Using Visual Studio 2008 with SQL CE 3.5, I notice that default values in the creation scripts for the database tables are not reflected in the dataset designer XSD file.  For example, the following SQL script creates the non-nullable table column names "Content" with a default value of 'Image':    "Content" nchar(20) NOT NULL DEFAULT 'Image',But in the column properties of the dataset designer (XSD) panel, this column correctly shows up as non-nullable, but with a DBnull default value as follows:     Name: Content    Allow DBnull: False    DefaultValue: <DBnull>Am I missing something somewhere, or is this a VS bug?  Also, how do I get the XSD file to regenerate after schema changes in the database?  Sqlmetal doesn't do it.Thanks,    -BGood

Query on XML datatype in SQL Server 2008

Transactional Publication With Article Using DATE Datatype Causes Snapshot Agent to Fail with Error

So I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition (64Bit) and have run into a strange problem that is baffling me. I have two tables that I need to replicate.  They are identical in specification except the name (one is for monthly stats and one daily stats) CREATE TABLE [dbo].[statsDailyLite]( [EntryDate] [date] NOT NULL, [SetID] [int] NOT NULL, [ProductID] [smallint] NOT NULL, [Hooks] [int] NOT NULL, [AdViews] [int] NOT NULL, [Clicks] [int] NOT NULL, [UAdViews] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_statsDailyLite] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [EntryDate] ASC, [SetID] ASC, [ProductID] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON, FILLFACTOR = 90) ) GO CREATE TABLE [dbo].[statsMonthlyLite]( [EntryMonth] [date] NOT NULL, [SetID] [int] NOT NULL, [ProductID] [smallint] NOT NULL, [Hooks] [int] NOT NULL, [AdViews] [int] NOT NULL, [Clicks] [int] NOT NULL, [UAdViews] [int] NOT NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_statsMonthlyLite] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [EntryMonth] ASC, [SetID] ASC, [ProductID] ASC )WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON, FILLFACTOR = 90) ) GO They both conatin a thousand or so test rows of data, and they are both in a transactional publication going to another SQL 2008 box. Now when the tables are empty

Native exception 0xc0000005 when using SQLCE 3.0/3.1 and .NET CF 2.0?!

Greetings, I have written a very basic C# console test app to check the performance and reliability of SQLCE on Windows CE 5.0 (source code below). Running this on different Windows CE 5.0 devices, I always get a 0xc0000005 native exception error when reaching 25592 inserts. It doesn't matter whether the database is empty or not when the test is run, it always fails at that exact number of inserts. Given that I would expect a managed application not to be able to generate native exceptions anyway, and can't really see any reason why it would in this case, I'm at a bit of a loss as to what's going wrong... Any ideas? Using: VS2005 w/ SP1 Windows CE 5.0 (on custom SH4 platform and HTC WM5 smartphone) .NET CF 2.0 w/ SP1 and post SP1 patch SQLCE 3.0.3600.0 TIA PS. The same code (with some SQLCE 3.0 specific bits removed - version and result set for checking table existence) works perfectly under .NET CF 1.0 and SQLCE 2.0). Source code: using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlServerCe; namespace TestDB {     class Program     {         static void Main(string[] args)         {             SqlCeConnection sqlConnection = new SqlCeConnection();             SqlCeCommand sqlCommand = sqlConnection.CreateCommand();             SqlCeResultSet sqlResult;             string strDatabase = "\\TestDB.sdf";             string strTable = "TestTable";

What can be the datatype for a column having records as weblinks?

Hi, i am trying to insert records in a column having records as weblinks but it gives me following error. --------------------- Msg 128, Level 15, State 1, Line 2 The name "www.yahoo.com" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted. -------------------------------- NOTE : i have tried nvarchar(2083) but still giving me the same error. but if i try insert something like http://yahoo.com i get ERROR : incorrect syntax near 'http:'-

SQLCE 3.5 connection from multiple application, data refresh

I have a native application (wm 6.5) using oledb to connect to a database. *******************************************************************************   result=CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SQLSERVERCE_3_5,0,CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,IID_IDBInitialize, (void**)&database);   ... // set properties  database->Initialize(); ******************************************************************************* This part of the app simply queries a single table for all records (query wrapped in a transaction of it own). I believe it is recommended that you keep a single connection for as long as possible, and therefore just create a new session each time I query the table. There is a second application (c#) which my application executes and then waits for. It updates and inserts new records. when the c# app closes and I get control back, my app then runs another query to see if anything has changed. My issue is that, the only way I can get the updated data is to un-initialize and re-initialize the database (IDBInitialize) interface created above.  Is there some properties I should be setting on the session/database in order for this to work. Or do I really have to spawn a new connection for every query?   Thanks in advance. Dylan

The 'DataType' attribute is not declared bug of MS SQL RS still here

Greetings. I am getting repeated bugs with reporting services that is described here https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=405739&wa=wsignin1.0 In short words, BIDS is saving the report in the wrong format, adding attributes to the tags that dont belong to the schema, and you can no longer open the report with BIDS, you have to carve those attributes out with Notepad, only to find out that next time you're working on it, they come back! This is getting seriously annoying as i virually cannot close my BIDS anymore, each time i want to reopen my project i have to edit it in the notepad!  Threre are words about "microsoft knows about this issue and changed it to "Fixed (External)" but noone knows how to install the fix... Help please.
