Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk Error

I have a SQL Server 2000 database.  I am trying to ssetup a sqldatasource in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.  I get an error saying "Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc cannot be loaded".  Everything I can find says this is related to 2005 or 2008.  Any ideas what I can look for?

What happened to the backup and restore classes in namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo vers

I do not see these two classes in version 10 of this namespace and I am not finding any documentation explaining what happened to them.

Powershell script that uses Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server need to use Sql Server Autheni

I have written a powershell script that uses Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server.  I have a couple of instances that are on different domains that I must use Sql Server authenication.  I am going to create a report user "sssmorpt".  What is the least a can grant this user to allow me to use Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server to get "$dbsize = $db.size - ($db.logfiles|measure-object -property size -sum).sum / 1024" for all databases in an instances?

Getting "wrong" data out of a microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.database object property (using pow

My problem:I do something like this:$dbsvr = new-object microsoft.sqlserver.management.smo.server "servername"$dbsvr.databases | ft name, size -autosizeWhen i run this from two different PC's i get database sizes that are all the same (5.25 mb), the size of the first database listed - which is master.I started to try out a few things, and found out that when i run the same command from one of our servers it returns the correct sizes...Anyone have any idea if this a SMO issue, or maybe some package software version issue...- or what?

Error while trying to register DLLs for Microsoft Jet on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit

Hello! I'm having issues with importing Excel spreadsheets into Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit server.  After browsing the web, it appears that the problem is with the DLL's used by Microsoft Jet.  I've thus attempted to re-register these DLL's.  However, I am receiving the following results. c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjetoledb40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjet40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjint40.dllThe module "msjint40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjter40.dllThe module "msjter40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjtes40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\mswstr10.dllThe module "mswstr10.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found I've set the application pool for this site to use 32bit.  Please note that due to my role on the team, other options such as using ACE are not available to me, unless I can prove that I've exhausted all other options. Thoughts? Thanks,Mike

Problems with SMO 2008 Redist + Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient

Hi,    I'm trying to run my application using SMO 2008. Everything works just fine if i have sql 2008 server installed.   My problem starts when I try to use SMO 2008 Redist. First it does not install Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient or Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser. After a little research, I found that this is a problem and that these files have to be copied manually to the folder where the application runs.  So I tried copying the files: No luck, i get a Could not load file (Below).  Then i tried to adding these files to the GAC manually: Same thing, Could not load file:   Code Snippet Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.FailedOperationException: ExecuteNonQuery failed for Database 'DB2008'.  ---> System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1)        Then I looked at the version of the files and they seemed to be version, so I went to my app.config and added a bind redirection from to now it finds the assembly but says that Manifest doesnt mach the reference:   Code SnippetMicrosoft.SqlServer.Management.Sm

SQLServer Express 2008 R2 - Cannot connect Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11.

I have just installed  running MSSQL Server 2008 R2 (Express), along with Visual Web Developer 2010 Express In SQL Server Configuration Manager I can see the SQL Server Service running (SQLEXPRESS) and the SQL Server Browser service running. On running SQL Server Management Studio when trying to log on I get the message Login failed for user Phil-PC`Phil (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456) In the SQL Server Error log I see this error 2010-09-16 10:24:16.07 Logon       Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. 2010-09-16 10:24:16.07 Logon       Login failed for user 'Phil-PC\Phil'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] I have been unable to find anything useful on Google on how to resolve this problem. I have tried running the command line utility sqlcmd -L and this lists the following Servers:     Phil-PC     Phil-PC\SQLEXPRESS   In my list of Installed programs in Control Panel I see both MS SQL Server 2008 & MS SQL Server 2008 R2, is that correct?

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 does not list all tables in database

When logging into SSMS 2008 to a SQL2008 database when I expand the tables in a database I only see a few tables listed.  I can login to the same instance with SSMS 2005 and all of the tables are there.  Is there a reason why this is this way?

I can do a select * from in a query window for any of the tables in the database via SSMS 2008 as well and it work fine.  It just does not display the tables.

Error Installing Sql Management Studio 2008 on 64 Bit Windows 7

I am getting the following message when I try to install SQL Management Studio on a 64 bit Windows 7 Premium Dell Laptop.

The message is: Sqlserver 2008 Setup requires Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed.

I have downloaded the Service pack and attempted to install as Adminstrator  (Dotnetfx35setup.exe).   It comes up and asks if I want to run it, but nothing ever loads.     I don't know if a registry setting is conflicting with the installation or what.

This computer came with Vista Home Premium 64bit and we installed the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (in case this has something to do with it.)   I have 2008 SQL Express running without problem along with Visual Studio 2008.

Any advice or suggestions to try would be appreciated.

On Change:Prevent Evaluation fails with error Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.

Hi All,

I am facing a strange issue with Policy Based Management. Exact problem is as below

SQL Setups

I have Lenovo laptop having 3 SQL instances installed on it.

SQL Server 2005 (x86) Developer Edition 9.00.4053  -- Named Instance : SQL2K5

SQL Server 2008 (x86) Developer Edition 10.0.1600.22 -- Named Instance : SQL2K8

SQL Server 2008 R2 (x86) Developer Edition 10.50.1600.1 -- Named Instance : SQL2K8R2

I configured SQL2K8R2 instance as a Centralized Server and registed SQL2K8 & SQL2K5 under this. I configured a new condition by using facet: MULTIPART NAME. As per this condition Table Should start with TEST_ in database TEST . Evaluation Mode set to              On Change: Prevent. Idea is if some one logs to database TEST and tries to create table with name other then starting with TEST_ then it should fail.

I Imported this policy on registered servers thru Centralized Management Server Action, as expected policy got configured on Registred SQL2K8 instance

I installed the SqlServer Express 2008 on top of WinXp sp2 with .net framework and sdk 3.5

Now when I try to start the sqlexpress service it does not start and event log has following exception..

FileMgr:Tongue TiedtartLogFiles: Operating system error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) occurred while creating or opening file 'e:\sql10_main_t\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\modellog.ldf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation.

Now on my system I have only c:\ drive no e:\

VSShellInstalledRule Error "Previous Releases of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008" Failed

I have had Visual Studio 2005 & 2008 on this machine in the past. Until yesterday I had visual studio 2010 Professional on this machine. Today, I do not have any version of visual studio on my machine AT ALL and I still get VSShellInstalledRule Error "Previous Releases of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008" Failures when I try to install SQL Server. I was totally astounded when this error appeared a week ago as I tried to install my Developer Edition of SQL Server 2008, quite simply because I had Visual Studio 2010 on this machine (until yesterday), not Visual Studio 2008. I could not upgrade to "SP1" as I have the more recent version, the BOL, forums and MSDN pages don't even consider that this might occur in VS 2010 or even once all versions are removed. At least I haven't seen any yet that do and believe me I have spent far too long looking!!!!!

So, currently, I don't have any Visual Studio on this machine, I can find no traces of visual studio of any version in the control panel applet "Programs & Settings". I could find that, despite uninstalling from the control panel applet "Programs & Settings" there were in excess of 50Mb of files left on the machine in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\ directory.  Hello!!! &

Microsoft.SqlServer.SMOEnum dll missing in Sql Server 2008

I am Creating a Project in SQL Server 2005 for Finding the Database Servers in the Network using SQL SMO.

But when I Upgrade my project from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008, my code throws some SMO Error.

My Code is looks like :

Function FindServers()

    Dim dtlSQLServers As DataTable

      dtlSQLServers = SmoApplication.EnumAvailableSqlServers(True)

    Catch ex As Exception

      dtlSQLServers = Nothing

    End Try

    Return dtlSQLServers

  End Function

SmoApplication throws error and shows that it is unavaliable in SQL Server 2008.

and not found manually C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK\Assemblies\Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum.dll.

So, what is the substitue of SMOEnum ?

System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Agent.JobBaseColl

Hi All,

I am getting the following error while trying to invoke a DB JOB from my application code.

System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Agent.JobBaseCollection' from assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91

I have installed my code in application server and the DB where the sql jobs are installed is in another server. (Different physical servers).

When I analysed, I could see that the Application server has Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo version in its GAC. The DB server has got both and versions of the same DLL in its GAC.

I wonder whether this can cause the issue.

Any help is appreciated.
