how to add a wiki page as a web part

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi All,

I have created a feature that generates a page and adds a content editor web part, links web part (using elements.xml). Everything works fine but I would like to replace content editor web part with a wiki page that I am going to create.

For example, I copied an excerpt from elements.xml file that adds a content editor web part for the page.

<Module Path="Dependencies/Pages" Url="">
  <File Url="default.aspx" Type="Ghostable">
   <!-- Add the Rich Content Text Editor web part -->
   <AllUsersWebPart WebPartZoneID="Right" WebPartOrder="1">
          <WebPart xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebPart/v2" xmlns:iwp="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebPart/v2/ContentEditor">
            <Assembly>Microsoft.SharePoint, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c</Assembly>
            <Title>Executive Summary</Title>

 Can someone tell me how I can add a wiki page using manifest (elements.xml) file or some other way?

Styles in Wiki Page versus Web Part Page

Hi there, I have a web part that was working perfectly fine in a wiki page (in the site pages library) - however as soon as I add that web part to a webpart page I lose some of my styles that are applied inline. More specifically I had some inline styles in a <tr> tag to show a border-bottom however that border-bottom just does not display in the webpart page. In the wiki page it displays perfectly fine. Any help is appreciated. Note: The reason I don't want to use a wiki page is because of this known problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981227 Thanks

Can I add web part to new wiki page automatically instead of manually?

Hi all, I developed a custom web part to display wiki page version history, version creator's membership level and view count.

Bur this "history" web part should be manually add to new wiki page, it's cannot provide convenience to end user.

Could you please advise me can I add web part to new wiki page automatically instead of manually?

 e.g. By editing the form template for the existing library in content DB, use event handler or other work around?

If yes, could you please give me any example or URL for reference?

Thanks a lot.

Change part of a page without full postback

I have a page with two columns. Initially, the left column will contain a list of links that are article titles. Clicking on one of the links will display the text of the article in the right column, keeping the list of titles in the left column. Clicking on another title will clear the text of the first article and display the second. Is there a way to accomplish this without having to repaint the whole page? I would rather not have the whole page resent each time a title is clicked, but rather have the page stay as is and only the contents of the right column get cleared and redisplayed. I assume there's a way to do this with JavaScript, but I don't know how and would appreciate some help. Thanks!

Wiki page customization

I am using a wiki library. I added one multiline field to this library and one date column.

1. How can i control number of lines entered in the multiline text box? By specifying the no. of lines only displays small textbox it doesn't stop us entering more.
2. When the user goes for edit i wanted the date column in the top. How do i acheive this ?

How to Customize Navigation for a Wiki Page

I've created a wiki library with 10+ wiki pages. I want users to be able to move from page to page on the Quick Launch navigation bar without having to go back to the wiki library home. Is this possible? I see the "Recent Changes" quick launch navigation feature that seems to accompany all wiki pages in a wiki library. Can I add another component similar to the "recent changes" feature that simply lists all of the pages in the wiki library?

Sharepoint 2007 - Wiki site - New Pages Not Inheriting Custom Master Page

I am working on a SP site (MOSS not WSS) which is heavily customised away from the OOTB layout. I need to create a Wiki site, which was going well - I've created a master page which displays the miniconsole (this was not visible with our customised layout), and made it the default master page for the site. This has been applied to the two standard pages that come with the Wiki site, however when a new page is created, it seems to inherit the default.master, rather than my custom master page - thus not showing the miniconsole.

When I have created a new page, I am able to use SharePoint Designer to attach my custom master page to it, which works perfectly, however this will not be a viable option going forward as end-users create their new wiki pages.

How can I get the new pages to inherit my master page when they are created?

Add page numbers for paging in data view web part

Hello all,

Has anyone found a solution that will allow me to have page numbers for paging in a data view web part. For instance, if I have 40 items/rows and I set the paging to display 10 items, I'd like the paging to show 1 2 3 4 rather than showing 1-10 and having to click next over and over to get to a specific item.

I found this article, but it is for 2003 and doesn't seem to apply to 2007 or if it does I am not able to really figure out how.

Please help!

Thanks in advance.

Web Part working fine on the top-level page but 'Not Safe' error on lower-level pages.

I have created a Web Part which reads and parses the SharePoint logs in order to display usage information of the page it resides on.  The Web Part works perfectly on the top page, reading and displaying the information desired.  However, once the Web Part is added to any page lower in the site heirarchy (sub-page) the same Web Part throws the following error:

Web Part Error: A Web Part or Web Form Control on this Page cannot be displayed or imported. The type could not be found or it is not registered as safe.

Of course the current version of the Web Part is in the SafeControls list on the web.config.

The Web Part was originally designed to return site activity only for the top default.aspx page and worked fine but started to fail in the manner described above once I added the following line of code to return a SPCo

Is it possible to give parameter to the Page Viewer web part?

Page viewer web part gives iView to the website eg. http://www.test.com. This works fine! Our customer would like give parameters like http://www.test.com/abc?name=John. First question is that is it possible to give personalized parameters to the url? Any chances to give SharePoint user name as parameter?  Kenny_I

Show wiki page library columns on wiki pages- SharePoint 2010

I created a wiki page library in SharePoint 2010 and added a few columns to the library. However, these columns do not show on the actual wiki pages as they did in SharePoint 2007. I looked through the library settings but didn't find anything to turn on this feature. Does anyone know how to do this or if this feature was even included in SharePoint 2010? Thanks.

How to switch to a different Web Part page layout?

I'm not sure if the capabilities are available in SP2010, but I have a web part page that I would like to change to a different layout. In the past I have always recreated the page, which takes a ton of time, but I would rather switch to a different layout on the fly and move everything around again. Is this possible?
