I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am getting an error message. Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?  I am getting the following error message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

I can't get Reporting Services to work with Sharepoint.

I've followed the instructions for installation of Reporting Service in SharePoint Integrated Mode, and completed the indicated steps on the SharePoint Central Administration Site successfully.  When I try to create a page with a Reporting Services Webpart, I get the following error:

===========================

Invalid object name 'History'.
----------------------------
An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)

============================

I have SQL 2008 R2, SharePoint Enterprise 2010, and Report Builder 3.0.  SQL and Sharepoint are installed on the same server.

I'm certain that there isn't a disk or timeout problem, so I'm assuming that it's a connection failure, but don't know what steps to take to troubleshoot and correct this.

Thanks

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

Hi,

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

hi, i decided to export my local site to iis today, the process wasn't smooth.   anyway. i was able to access my site, the db tables are working as i am able to create new records and retrieve them. my main problem now is with the report object. i've tried the work around found here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2002980.. it helped sort of. i used to have only a big page of error before i did the work around, now i am able to see half of the report (the report interface) but the contents, the field are filled with 404 errors. any idea how i can fix this??

A connection could not be made to the report server - Problem deploying an SSRS report from Business

I’m having trouble with what seems to be a common issue for people, regarding deployment of an SSRS report from Business Intelligence Development Studio. Unfortunately none of the solution I have seen posted here (and elsewhere) have been able to help me so far.   Two of my collegaues can both deploy with no problem, and I am using exactly the same Target destinations as them (TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder, TargetServerURL).   I have posted the error message below, which from my basic understaning would indicate, I think, a security issue (perhaps something local to my PC, or user account)   Has anyone experienced this particular issue who might be able to help?   Best wishes, Jamie TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------ A connection could not be made to the report server http://turpin-net.turpin-bg.local/Reportserver. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. Internal Error 500 and The Report Server Not Responding

I'm about to give up the ghost here.. I've got Reporting Services installed, the IIS default website is accessible, and it appears the virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are there, but when I try to access either of these paths via a browser I get the following: Reports - "The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer." ReportServer - Internal Error 500 When reviewing the logs I see this: "w3wp!ui!7!9/1/2010-11:13:39:: e ERROR: The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer. w3wp!ui!7!9/1/2010-11:13:40:: e ERROR: HTTP status code --> 500" I've tried the start stop of ReportServices and IIS...no good... I've checked all permissions and can't seem to find any that are lacking...  I'm running this on SQL Server 2005 (64bit edition), on a Windows 2008 R2 server... any help would be appreciated... I'm getting gray hairs as I type this :-)   Jill

ReportBuilder 2.0: open server report via command line?

Hello,is it possible to launch ReportBuilder 2.0 and pass the server report to open via command line?Searching the forums I have found this blog-entry (Launching Report Builder from the command line), but I think it is for ReportBuilder 1.0, because SQL Server 2005 is mentioned. I have tried it anyway, but ReportBuilder 2.0 just starts with an empty report. If I specify a rdl-file from the local file system the report will open fine:MSReportBuilder.exe d:\temp\samplereport.rdlthanks in advance and best regards,Gerald

Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server

This was originally posted in the SSIS Forum, but a member of the IS team suggested it be moved here.  "Most recently I got this error (Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) so does this mean that SQL Server is still trying to use named pipes even if I only have TCP/IP enabled in SQL Server Configuration Manager?"

I'm having the same issue, and here's our scenario:

  1. Installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on a machine with WinXP SP2 and enabled remote connections over TCP/IP
  2. Installed SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on a machine with Win2003 SP1 (remote connections over TCP/IP enabled by default)
  3. Attempted to 'Copy Database' from Developer Edition TO Standard Edition using 'Detach and Attach' method and recieved the error on the Win2003 machine: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server

SQL Server 2008r2 Best Practice Analyzer report error

Hi All,

recently I was playing with SQL Server 2008r2 BPA. I have installed Baseline Configuration Analyzer in my workstation and my server has BPA installed.

Now when ever I try to run analysis on my workstation. I always get following errors,

1. User is not a member of Administrators group on remote machine, OR

2. Powershell Remoting is not Enabled on Remote Server

Now I am sure that I am Admin of that server machine and I have enabled the PS Remoting (because when I try to rerun the commands to enable remoting in PS it says it is enabled). Also, I can run BPA on my server if I run it locally (by logging into the server m/c).

If any one has any suggestion, I will really appreciate it.

Thanks,

-Jack
