2008 reportviewer - no vertical scrollbars in Firefox

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi,

The 2008 reportviewer (verion 10.x) does not show vertical scrollbars in Firefox. Does anyone know a fix?

The code used is very simple and works well in IE8 and IE9 beta. I have tried adding style attibutes but Firefox just won't show the vertical scrollbar.

<rsweb:ReportViewer ID="reportViewer" runat="server" Height="100%" Width="100%" Font-Names="Verdana"
      Font-Size="8pt" ProcessingMode="Remote" InteractiveDeviceInfos="(Collection)"
      WaitMessageFont-Names="Verdana" WaitMessageFont-Size="14pt">
    </rsweb:ReportViewer>

Thanks

Disable horizontal and/or vertical scrollbars on ReportViewer Webpart

Hello everybody,

I have set up SSRS 2008 and SharePoint Foundation 2010 and try to build a website showing all kind of reports. But I do have problems to control the appearance of scrollbars in the webpart.

To make it easier to explain I created a report where all sizes (Page size, Interactive and Text body) have the similar size (width: 100mm and height: 50mm).

Next I made an empty Wiki Site with single column layout and inserted a Reportviewer Webpart based on the generated report. I set the height to 70mm and the width to 120mm.

Here is the result: http://img213.imageshack.us/img

SSRS 2008 R2 Sparklines are only partially visible when rendered in IE7, IE8 and Firefox 3.6

I'm troubleshooting a sparkline/chart rendering issue on the report server and am wondering if anybody has had any similar issue. The sparkline is rendering with a larger apparent size than the column cell where it is located so only a portion of the chart is visible. Charts appeared correctly in BIDS preview but were rendered incorrectly when accessed from the report server in IE7,IE8 and FF3.6 on one machine and from IE8 on another machine. Report rendered correctly when accessed from the report server via IE6 on all machines tested. It rendered correctly when exported to excel or pdf. I submitted a bug report.  It has examples and screenshots. https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/588778/ssrs-2008-r2-sparklines-are-only-partially-visible-when-rendered-in-ie7-ie8-and-firefox-3-6#details Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

ReportViewer 2008 multi-select parameter alignment

We are using SSRS 2008 SP1 & ReportViewer 2008 SP1. The multi-select parameter options are left aligned in the drop-down listbox on the Report Server but when run thru ASP.Net & reportViewer, they are aligned in the center of the drop-down list. This is very problematic because the width of the drop-down is also narrow compared to the text size of the fields. I tried wrapping the ReportViewer in a Div tag (<div style="vertical-align: left; text-align: left">), but still no joy.  Would appreciate any help thanks.

Graphs are not being displayed in ReportViewer after upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2

I am having a problem with my graphs disappearing after upgrading to Reporting Services 2008 R2.  The graphs are visible if the report is run from the Report Mananger but if the report is viewed from an ASP web app using ReportViewer 9.0 they disappear.  If the report is exported the graphs are there.  This is driving me crazy.

My Report Viewer code from the web page:

ReportViewer looping ajax calls to keep session alive causes Firefox to look like it's constantly r

In the HTML generated by the ReportViewer there is the following line of code (I've tried ot make it more readable by removing the superfluous information)
setTimeout("frames['ReportViewer1TouchSession0'].location.replace('/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?...&TimerMethod=KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0...", 0);

function KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0() {
   setTimeout("frames['ReportViewer1TouchSession0'].location.replace('/Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd?...TimerMethod=KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0....", -1703027296);
}

When the Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd is called it makes a GET request that returns the following HTML:

<html><body><script type="text/javascript">parent.KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0();</script
></body></html>

 So in effect it becomes a recursive function and because KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0 calls a set timeout with a negative timeout value, in Firefox it's called immediately, in about 10 secon

Writing mode: vertical in Reporting Services 2008

Hi

I am new to Reporting Services 2008. I have a report from SSRS 2005. In that report layout, I modified text field's orientation to Vertical and set its writing mode as tb-rl. So, a field called [Report] displays  text vertically starting from R.

If this text is long say [Reporting services] it still displayed it vertically in one single line in SSRS 2005. But in SSRS 2008, It is appearing in two vertical lines. How can I get text in one vertical line?

Please advise.

Thanks!

SSRS 2008 / Vertical Scrollbar in e-mail delivery.

Hi,

in SSRS 2008, a report delivered by e-mail displays a vertical scrollbar. (No scrollbar in native html/web rendering)

The same report deployed to 2008 "R2" does not display the bar in the e-mail.

Finicky report developers in a slight funk.

Possible patch for the 2008 behaviour?

thanks!

ReportViewer on IIS 7 Windows 2008 not rendering, usual fix not working

I moved from Katmai and Windows 2003, to SQL 2008 RTM and Server 2008 with IIS 7. My ReportViewer based .Net application runs but reportviewer control icons do not display and the report does not render. Same reports render in ReportManager and Visual Studio. I tried this common fix which did not work:

  • Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and select your Web application.
  • Under IIS area, double-click on Handler Mappings icon.
  • At the Action pane on your right, click on Add Managed Handler.
  • At the Add Managed Handler dialog, enter the following:
    Request path: Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd
    Type: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler
    Name: Reserved-ReportViewerWebControl-axd
  • Click OK.

2008 reportviewer - IE9 beta caching problem

Hi,

In IE9 beta the reportviewer is caching the previous report. I have a reportviewer on an aspx page that gets called and the code behind connects to the reportserver using the remote process mode.

However when the new tab opens up the old report is still displayed. This doesnt happen in IE7 or Firefox.

Anyone come across this problem?

Thanks

SQL 2008 Pivot using vertical and hortizonal format table

Hi

I have 2 tables, where one holds Name and address information in a wide format, second table is a deep version where i have the records with field names (i.e. Date Of Birth) in the value and then another field with the actual value.

I need to merge both tables together to create a new 3rd table and have everything in a wide format, so name and address for one record plus another new column with Date of Birth, so in the end i would just have one row for a person.

i am using sql 2008, i have a very large dataset so need something generic and fast as there are lots of different field names so i would need to add this to the new table as well. The number of fields is not consistent, so need to create this dynamicaly, I also need to run in small batches as the selection causes space issues.

declare @fieldNames varchar(max)
set @fieldNames = stuff((select distinct ',' + incomingfieldName from tmp_other for xml path('')),1,1,'')
declare @sql nvarchar(max)

declare @BatchSize int, @MaxID int, @Iterations int, @I int
set @BatchSize = 10000 -- 1K records at once
select @MaxID = max(Purn) from Tmp_Rank -- get maximum number
set @Iterations = ceiling(@MaxID/@BatchSize) -- this will give us number of iterations to perform.
print 'MaxID: ' + convert(varchar(10),@MaxID) + ' Batch Size:

Reportviewer scrollbars

I have a reportviewer control on a webpage that is causing me a bit of hassle.

The problem is that it is showing white space where the vertical scrollbar would appear (i don't need the vertical scrollbar).  I've tried the following but it doesn't fix the problem:

AsyncRendering = false;

and

SizeToReportContent = true;

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

PS. I have done various searches on this an they all seem to point to the property settings above.

ReportViewer looping ajax calls to keep session alive causes Firefox to look like it's constantly r

 So in effect it becomes a recursive function and because KeepAliveMethodReportViewer1TouchSession0 calls a set timeout with a negative timeout value, in Firefox it's called immediately, in about 10 seconds Firebug logs over 150 GET requests in one minute there

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

Seven reasons to care about SQL Server 2008 R2

Microsoft begins to fully realize its vision of SQL Server as an information platform and not "just" a database. Hence the main theme for this release -- at least according to Microsoft -- is self-service BI. The PowerPivot plug-ins for Excel 2010 and SharePoint 2010 are easily going to make the biggest splash of all the new features, not least because they're the most complete. But then, SQL Server 2008 R2 isn't strictly necessary for PowerPivot for Excel, which works with plenty of other data sources.

Building Re-Usable ASP.NET User Control and Page Libraries with VS 2008

I am having problems with a user control. I want my solution to have a separate project for holding my user controls.

The main project can get a reference to this user control project and can import this user control dll into my main project.
