We have two site collections in our app, at /sites/SITE1 and /sites/SITE2. But we do not have a root web. Now is it possible to redirect requests to http://www.oursite.com to http://www.oursite.com/sites/SITE1 ?

Hello,I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider. I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user. If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login. If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples? I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.
My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login. If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions. My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Usage analysis processing is enable for my farm in both Central Administration and in the SSP.
I've checked TImer Job Status and the three timer jobs responsible for doing the log analsis are all running.
I've also checked the log file locations and the log files are being generated.
Yet when I browse the "Site collection usage summary" report (SpUsageSite.aspx) I get the following:
No data is available for this report. Usage analysis might have been enabled only recently, or there might have been insufficient usage to result in any values for the report.
My farm is running 2007 Enterprise SP2 (220.127.116.1121).
Can someone confirm if this issue was fixed with one of the CU's that were issues post-SP2?
I set up a test website on my local box and was able to access sharepoint search using the querySearch web service from SP. After I got it all working properly I transferred the code to the target website that is set up with anonymous access for all
people on the fab floor. However from this website I keep getting the 401 error. It can't be SP because the same code worked from my local website "localhost". Any suggestions? we don't want to have to have the fab people log in so
we can't not have the box anonymous. I would appreciate any suggestions very much!!!
Using WSS 2007 with MOSS.
private void GetDefaultCredentials()
m_where = "get configuration data for credentials";
string userid = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings[ "userid" ];
string password = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings[ "password" ];
string domain = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings[ "domain" ];
m_where = "set search query credentials";
m_query.Credentials = new NetworkCredential ( userid, password
Does anyone know if the Site Collection Usage Report includes activity that occurs from Outlook? For example, if a user contributes to a discussion board without ever physically touching the site or if the user just reads list content from Outlook,
is this included?
ANY help at all is greatly appreciated.
In our SharePoint installation we have an SSP which indexes local office sharepoint server sites.ÃÂ However there is a problem, although we can do portal searches which reveal search results it is not able to doÃÂ local searches at the site collection level and as aÃÂ result we are presented with the typical error below.
No results matching your search were found.
I am unsure as to why this strange event is occuring.ÃÂ We do not have the WSS Search component running in the MOSS environment as the SSP service should be able to index and server search queries at the portal and local site collection level.
Any thoughts to this?
