Help with selecting rows from a grid view

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 17, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hello,

How do you select value from a gridview? I would like to pass values of rows selected to a query with the code below, but the grid seems to be frozen and I can't find a property for the grid that allows me to select rows.

Thanks,

Victor

Protected Sub GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles GridView1.SelectedIndexChanged

Dim DB As New AOP29DBDataContext

If GridView1.SelectedValue = "Receiver" Then

Dim Query = From p In DB.Receivers

Select p

GridView2.DataSource = Query

GridView2.DataBind()

End If

If GridView1.SelectedValue = "Donor" Then

Dim Query = From p In DB.Donors

Select p

GridView2.DataSource = Query

GridView2.DataBind()

End If

End Sub

ASP.NET Grid View Paging and GridDataRowBound Problem -

Hi,

I have a problem displaying data in a Grid View control when I set a row to visible = false when a certain condition is true.

For example, if a DataRowData value has a condition set to true (custom in table) I set the visible property to false, so the data row will not be visible at run time.

The problem is that I'm using paging (10 rows per page) and if 8 of those rows fall into the true condition that won't show the row, that grid view page will only show two rows of data in page 1. The worst scenario is that if I go to page 2 of the grid view and all the rows (10) fall into the true condition, that grid view page will not show any data at all.

How can I show 10 rows of data at all times in a gridview? In other words, I would like to just show the visible rows at all times.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Eduardo.

Change grid view from table to other HTML layout

Hi,

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, I'm coming at this from a front-end perspective, and don't really know how to deal with data views in ASP.NET.

Basically, I'm trying to change the layout of some repeated data from a straight table, to something more design-heavy.  It's the same data, just re-organised slightly.  The current ASP.NET code looks like this:

		<table>
			<tr>
				<td>
                    <asp:GridView ID="GVMoments" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AllowSorting="True"
                        AutoGenerateColumns="False" PageSize="20" RowHeaderColumn="FirstName"
                        SkinID="GroupSkin" DataKeyNames="moment_id"
                        DataSourceID="SqlDataEditMoments">
                        <PagerSettings Mode="NumericFirstLast" PageButtonCount="20" Position="TopAndBottom" />
                        <RowStyle />
                            <Columns>
                                <asp:BoundField DataField="moment_id" HeaderText="moment_id" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="moment_id"
                                    Visible="False" In

Filtering/selecting rows based on date

I have a gridview, based on thsi datasource:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSourceAllLoads" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:tplatz_dk_dbConnectionString %>"
        SelectCommand="SELECT DISTINCT DATEADD(day, 0, DATEDIFF(day, 0, tblDelivered.delivered_Date)) AS delivered_Date, tblDelivered.delivered_LoadNo, tblDelivered.delivered_TrailerNo, ISNULL(tblDeliveredInfo.deliveryInfo_FirmaNavn, N'?') AS Expr1 FROM tblDelivered FULL OUTER JOIN tblDeliveredInfo ON tblDelivered.delivered_LoadNo = tblDeliveredInfo.deliveryInfo_LoadNr ORDER BY delivered_Date DESC">
    </asp:SqlDataSource>

Using a dropdownlist, I can filter (by changing datasource) the results based on customer names in a dropdownlist. This datasource, working perfectly, looks like this:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqldataSourceKundeLoads" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:tplatz_dk_dbConnectionString %>"
        SelectCommand="SELECT  DATEADD(day, 0, DATEDIFF(day, 0, tblDelivered.delivered_Date)) AS delivered_Date, tblDelivered.delivered_LoadNo, tblDelivered.delivered_TrailerNo, ISNULL(tblDeliveredInfo.deliveryInfo_FirmaNavn, N'?&#

Selecting VIEW dynamically from a stored procedure

What's the best way to dynamically reference a view in a sproc? I want to pass a View Name into a stored procedure, but I'm guessing this is only possible with a table in SQL Server 2008. Is the only way to do this through dynamic SQL (passing in the View name as a string, and executing the query as a built string)?. My concern is that if I use Dynamic SQL, what performance gain I might get by using a view may be undone by using Exec('string').   Any thoughts?   Thanks Steve
