I have just installed SQL server 2008 sp1 on my new laptop and Management Studio appears to freeze - inparticular when running long queries. If i try to stop the query - i cant becuase the stop button is inactive i.e. i cant click on it. even when the results
return - there is usually a couple of seconds until I am able to interact with the UI.
has anybody observed this behaviour? I have visual studio installed and this doesnt struggle in the same way SSMS does.
I have seen this post(http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/sqltools/thread/235C2A13-8935-41E8-8028-F1338F6F1AE9) which suggests that
it is something to do with autorecovery but i only see it when actually running queries rather than when general use.
SSMS is installed on Windows7 64bit, Core i3 proc, with 8GB of RAM.
I had wondered if it is the processor not being able to cope as I have installed SQL server countless times without observing this behaviour.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
