Generating proxy with netcfsvcutil - An error occured in the tool -> How to generate proxy?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 16, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I'm currently trying to generate a SmartDevice proxy from a WCF service and that fails. Initially it complained that the NETCF doesn't support wsHtpp, so I changed it into a basicHttp binding and rolled https into it. After changing a lot of things I managed to get my server to properly start, but had the testclient complain that it was unable to generate a proxy because the connection was forcefully closed.

So I undid ALL the HTTPS changed and use plain http. It's not secure, but at least it works for my development purposes. When I start the test client, it generates a proxy and shows up fine. However, when I run my netcfsvcutil from the commandline, it gives me "An error has occured in the tool." follow by a "An error has occured in the application".

This is how I call the tool:

netcfsvcutil.exe http://localhost:8080/WhereIsPatrickSvc/mex

And this is my entire config file for the service;

<?xml version="1.0" encoding=

A little background because I feel I have an out of the ordinary architecture in place and don't know if this is contributing to the problem.

We have an existing ASP.net application that is undergoing expansion.  The new functionality is all written in Silverlight 4.  As part of that expansion I gutted all the old Linq to SQL and put Entity Framework 4 into place.  To do this I created a standard .net Class Library and added my edmx files there.  Naturally, the business entities created by this cannot be used in Silverlight.  So I created a Silverlight Class Library and added all the business entities to that Silverlight Class Library as linked files.  I changed the name space to be the same.

So I have the following assembly / namespaces

Company.Project.Dal.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (.net 4 class library)

Company.Project.Entities.csproj / Company.Project.Entities (SL4 class library)

With this architecture I was able to share my business entities with my SL enabled web services, my asp.net projects, my silverlight projects.  Really it's a beautiful thing.

Once this was done I added "message" classes to Company.Project.Dal and again shared them with the other entites using linked files.  These messages are things like MyObjectRequest; they are class

How do I generate proxy class for webservice with no WSDL published?

 Hello, I need to utilize following web service: https://www.icds.att.com/xmlrequest Service publishes 2 XML files (one for Request and another for Response) https://www.icds.att.com/schemas/XMLRequest.xsd and https://www.icds.att.com/schemas/XMLResponse.xsd. I generated classes for those manually, but my question is how do I actually utilize web service (generate proxy file) in this case. Do I have to code everything manually?

Proxy Managed Metadata Service Error

Hi I've deleted my web apps installed a language pack and then I've created new web apps and site collections on them with the new language (not reinstalling all again). On my portal I've made a Content type based on Document Set with a few Custom columns based on some taxonomy created before. My problem is that the new Content type was created like one which was created before deleting my web apps (the custom columns are the same), and now when I publish it the other web app is importing the old content type first (FROM WHERE I DON"T KNOW) and when tries to import the new one (which has a column with the same name) the Proxy Managed Metadata Service gives an error 'Filed internal name conflict.....' If I click on managed Metadata Service url http://portal/_layouts/mngctype.aspx  the old Content type of course that it's not present. Where should I search for it to delete it ? MFSvcUtil generated proxy files compiling error

Hi,

I have a temperature sensor running DPWS, for which I have a WSDL file; and I want to talk to it from a Win32 client.
I managed to use MFSvcUtil.exe temperature.wsdl to generate proxy files (TemperatureSensor.cs, TemperatureSensorClientProxy.cs, TemperatureSensorHostedService.cs). However, when I want to use it in my project, my VS2010 gives me the following error:
'www.xxx.yyy.zzz.TemperatureSensor.StatusDataContractSerializer.ReadObject(System.Xml.XmlReader)': no suitable method found to override (TemperatureSensor.cs ...).

My questions are:
(1) is it the correct way to use MFSvcUtil.exe to generate proxy for a normal .NET application to talk to a DPWS device?
(2) if answer is yes to Q(1), what is wrong wit

Dynamically Generate a WCF Proxy class at runtime and Callling web methods via reflection

Hi,

I'm busy writing an application where the user will have to specify the location of a ?wsdl file for asmx and/or svc type services.

My application will have to :

1. Deduce from the wsdl what methods (with parameters and return types) are available on the service.

2. Provide a way to either generate a Proxy class in memory to execute methods against with e.g: Reflection

    for instanse : genericProxy.Invoke("HelloWorldMethod",parameter1,parameter2);

    I want to avoid using something like this : notSoGenericProxy.HelloWorldMethod(parameter1,parameter2); seeing that my application will have no

    idea what service it will have to work with at runtime.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thank you for any help in advance!

3 Ways to generate proxy for WCF Service

A Proxy in Windows Communication Foundation is a class that enables client applications to communicate with a service by sending and receiving messages. It actually encapsulates a number of service details like service path, service implementation technology, platform being used, communication protocol etc. as well as all the methods (signature only) of the Service Contract.

deploying to msdeploy does not support a proxy server

I am trying to deploy through webmatrix but my system Proxy server configuration is not being used. I assume that webmatrix would detect the proxy server settings and use that for the msdeploy calls under the hood. Can anyone confirm this is a know issue?

Activation error occured while trying to get instance of type Database, key "DBName"

Im using Enterprise library 5.0
I have a scenario, where I have to access two different databases in my application.

Basically this application is a webservice,delployed on my local for testing purpose.
I'm trying to access this web method from diffent windows application, default connection works fine but the other database throw's exception.

Problem is only my defaultDatabase is works fine, if I change defaultDatabase="MYCON1" with "MYCON2" it works fine, if I try to access the other database which is not default, throws exception.

<dataConfiguration defaultDatabase="MYCON1" />
<connectionStrings>
<add name="MYCON1" connectionString="Data Source=server1;Initial Catalog=dbName1;User Id=Username1;Password=password1;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient

<add name="MYCON2" connectionString="Data Source=Server2;Initial Catalog=dbName2;User Id=Username2;Password=password2;"
providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>

Database myDB=EnterpriseLibraryContainer.Current.GetInstance<Database>(); --> works fine for the default database (MYCON1)

Proxy Detection: Take the Burden Off Users with Automatic Configuration in .NET

Proxy settings can be a real pain in the neck and very frustrating for users to configure properly. In this article, Durgaprasad Gorti discusses how you can use automatic proxy configuration via script and how it works in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0.

ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript

The article ASP.NET Proxy Page - Used for Cross Domain Requests from AJAX and JavaScript was added by Aamir Hasan on Thursday, August 19, 2010.

One of the pain points with developing AJAX, JavaScript, JQuery, and other client-side behaviors is that JavaScript doesn't allow for cross domain request for pulling content. For example, JavaScript code on www.johnchapman.name could not pull content
