Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

Is there any way to validate those mentioned form at server side? Is it really good way to think that my validation can put inside Event Handler?
When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as
"Failed to Start".
Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.
Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)
What am I missing out here??
Details of the exception:
09/29/2010 18:11:19.15 w3wp.exe (0x2508) 0x2710 SharePoint Foundation
Workflow Infrastructure 98d8 Unexpected Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: <Error><CompilerError Line="0" Column="20" Text="The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace
I have a list (table) with 50 items which is in a webpart zone of a Sharepoint 2010 page. Unfortunately, users have to scroll down the page to see the last items in the list. Therefore I would like to break the list
in two and display both lists (each with 25 items) side by side in the same webpart zone. How can I do this?
The only thing I can think of is to add a new webpart zone next to the other one, put a copy of my 50 items list in it, and apply filters to the lists so that the left one displays items 1-25 and the right one displays items 26-50. Unfortunately,
I will have to change my filters once in a while.
This happens only on my desktop and laptop. When I try to open any site using "edit with sharepoint designer", I get the following message.
"c:\program files\Microsoft office\office 14\spdesign.exe
The application has failed to start becuase its side by side configuration is incorrect."
The site I am trying to open is a SPS 2010 site. Even if I try to open the application without trying to open the site, I get the same message. I have reinstalled Office 2010 and SPD 2010 but with no luck. Any advise.
I did a clean SP 2010 install recently on a new server farm. I got a health analyzer warning about missing server side dependencies - a lot of them - and missing web parts ... then I installed the August cumulative upgrade and got a clean configuration
but an erro log with, again, a list of theoretically missing web parts. I don't see any issue with features or functions but-- even after reading the posts- am unable to figure out (1) whether this is important or (2) how to fix it -- please note that
my test server shows none of these issues - the only difference between test and prod is that test is completely vanilla and production uses a named instance of SQL Server ... Thanks so much for any advise ... Pete

Does anyone know of any links on how to side by side install SQL 2008 Express edition on XP SP3 machine where there are instances of SQL 2005 Express edition already installed.
These 2005 Express instances are development databases and I must reduce any risks of screwing them up when I install 2008.
while saving data to a list in sharepoint all the validation are server side ,can i do it client side in sharepoint 2007
