Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Please help!  I cannot debug CLR procs remotely.  Whenever I try to start debugging in VS2005 I get the error:  Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on ....  I have clr enabled set to 1 and I have Allow SQL\CLR Debugging set on.  But I continue to get this error.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unable to start debugging on the web server. The IIS worker process for the launched URL is not currently running.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, VS 2008 sp1.

When I first try to debug I get the error msg above.  I wait a few minutes (presumably some service is starting) and debugging will start but no breakpoints are recognized.

Some of the things I've tried:

Changing the binding of my site from a static IP to "*".

Enabled windows authentication.

made sure localhost = in the hosts file.

The website was built under windows xp and whatever version of IIS ships with xp.  My web config has no errors that I know of but might be missing something required for iis 7 (??)

Unable to start T-SQL debugging SQL Server 2008

I'm getting exactly the same problem described here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/dcc851e7-35d7-492a-b15c-7dffe47110ed --------------------------- Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio --------------------------- Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Lastly (not sure if this is useful or not) I tried attaching to the Ssms.exe process from Visual Studio 2008 and I get the following output when I try debugging:  ... Debugging SQLCLR in VS 2010 using attach to process

After reading numerous posts / threads, I still can't get an answer. We have assemblies built in Visual Studio 2008 (.NET 2.0) and could debug them without any issues (on the same server). Since we upgraded to Visual Studio 2010, the "attach to process" does not work and the breakpoints don't get hit.

I've followed numerous workarounds, such as making sure the correct debugger is used by adding a config file to sqlservr.exe, but this did not make a difference.. Articles can be found here: http://webstats.interknack.com/BLOGS/BOBB/post/SQLCLR-debugging-and-VS-2010-revisited.aspx and http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertbruckner/archive/2010/06/20/debugging-custom-extensions-with-visual-studio-2010.aspx.

Here an example of my sqlservr.exe.config file:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
   <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true">

Unable to Start, with or without debugging

Please forgive me if this issue was already posted, I could not find it in the forums...

I have used Visual Web Developer (versions up to 2010) with no problems for several years. Starting last week I am no longer able to run or debug any ASP.Net application locally.

I am running Windows XP, IIS 5.1, IE8, Visual Web Developer 2005, targetting .Net 2.0. I am not able to Start Debugging or Start Without Debugging for any project. When I attempt to Start Debugging, IE browses to instead of to the project I am attempting to run. When I Start Without Debugging, IE opens to about:blank and then when I close that window another IE window opens to

Maybe irrelevant, but I had the same problem with IE7 and VWD 2010 (versus IE8, VWD 2005). IIS is set to .Net version 2.0. I have the same problem whether I add a virtual directory to my project in IIS or not.

Any ideas?

Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not connect to computer '.'.

Unable to start T-SQL Debugging.  Could not connect to computer '.'. This is usually a temporary error during hostname resolution and means that the local server did not receive a response from an authoritative server.

I'm using Management Studio 2008 with Sql Server 2008 Express.  I can execute queries, but I cannot debug them.  I am a member of the systemadmin role, and my server is using "local system"  as the account.  I am on a domain here at work.

I have seen http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlnetfx/thread/3590e35b-bb2d-45cd-be85-7698b7045be8/, but I am not doing any remote debugging.  I tried running the server under my user name, but still no luck.  I also have my firewall disabled (even though I did enable it and open up the correct ports just-in-case).

It use to work before I uninstalled and re-installed SQLEXPRESS.  What could be the issue?  I've searched everywhere, and so far everything says I should do what I've already tried.  I did have a password change, but changing it several times has not had any effect.

When I try to debug queries on the main 2005 sql server, I get:  Cannot execute script.  Additional Information:  Unable to start the

HttpHandler works with Visual Studio Development Server debugging, but not otherwise

Hi all,

I'm new to HttpHandlers.  I am writing an HttpHandler that reads uploaded files directly from the request stream to provide progress that can be queried using an AJAX request.  For large files, this seems to be faster than having ASP.NET load the file contents into Request.Files and then streaming the file from there to wherever it goes (Linq to SQL into a VARBINARY column in an SQL Server database.)

My HttpHandler works perfectly when I'm debugging using the Visual Studio Development Server, but doesn't work otherwise.  The application pool for this application in IIS 7 is set to run in Classic Mode, and the Handler Mappings screen in IIS says that I must manage managed handlers in system.web/httpHandlers.

I set up in my applications Web.config file.

<add verb="GET,POST" path="*.upload" type="Namespace.For.UploadHandler, AssemblyForUploadHandler"/>

It works great, so long as I don't debug with the "Use Local IIS Web server" option.

What else do I need to do to get this to work?

Windows Server 2003: Discover Improved System Info, New Kernel, Debugging, Security, and UI APIs

There's a lot to say about Windows Server 2003. First of all, it's the first operating system with built-in .NET Framework support, and it's the first 64-bit OS from Microsoft. But wait, there's more! There are lots of new features and APIs in this version as well. For instance, Windows Server 2003 features Hot Add Memory and a number of other arcane new tidbits. There are new APIs for handling threads, directories, and files, and new features like the low fragmentation heap for managing memory and system information. There's vectored exception handling and new UI APIs as well.OS internals expert Matt Pietrek takes a look at the additions he finds most interesting and useful so you'll have a good place to start when you dive into Windows Server 2003.

unable to attach database, security setting?

Hi folks,

I am using VS 2010 Professional with SQL Server 2008 Developer.  I right click on the App_Data folder in solution explorer and add an existing item, then navigate to the correct database.  However, I receive a pop up that Access is Denied.  How do I fix this?
