SQL Server 2005 rebuild indexes find corruption or cross linked files

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Does anyone know if this is a known issue? What do you do when this happens? We had to go to a good backup from 3 days prior.

From the application log it appears there were cross linked files. Is this caused by the OS or Sql Server?

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

I have two SQL Server instances installed.

1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

Multiple XML files into SQL SERVER Express 2005

Hello. I am familiar with classic ASP and use this with MS SQL SERVER EXPRESS. I have an SQL table and want to import multiple XML files into this on a daily basis. I currently have 3 files, transferdata.vbs which loops through the XML files. FAQschema.xml which maps XML to the SQL database and test.xml shows the xml in the test file. If I run transferdata.vbs I get the following error "Error opening the data file" line 33 char 3. Microsoft Bulkload for SQL Server". My SQL table is called EnqOrd id (int), Debitor (varchar), PurchaseDate (varchar)     transferdata.vbs set objBL = CreateObject("SQLXMLBulkLoad.SQLXMLBulkLoad") objBL.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=XXXXXX\XXXXX; Initial Catalog=XXXX; User ID=XXXXX; Password=XXXXXX" objBL.ErrorLogFile = "E:\fuelsql\Teccom\error.log" ' Here is the path to your XML files Const path = "E:\fuelsql\Teccom\XML\" Dim Text, Title, oFile Dim fso, oFolder, oFiles, wsh ' Object variables Text = "Folder " Title = "XML Files" Set wsh = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") ' Create FileSystemObject object to access the file system. Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") ' Get Folder object. Set oFolder = fso.GetFolder(wsh.ExpandEnvironmentStrings(path)) ' Get All Files Set oFiles = oFolder.

Sql Server 2005 backup misses files

I have a SQL Server 2005 database that contains 3 files.  Sometimes when I run rhe backup, it appears to only backup 2 of the three files.  The only way I can get it to return to a full backup is to restore the database from a backup tape.

Linked Server to DB2 from SQL 2005 IA64BIT computer

Has anyone created a linked server to DB2 on AS/400 from SQL Server 2005 IA64 BIT? We were hoping to use the new Microsoft OLEDB Provider for DB2...The problem is the driver looks like it will only work on x64 computers."The single setup program will install the provider and tools on both x86 and x64 computers" We were able to install the driver on the IA64 computer and were able to successfully create a data source from the Data Access Tool. Oddly enough when we attempted to create a linked server in SSMS we received an error, we also noticed that the DB2OLEDB provider is not listed in SSMS. This is becoming a real problem so any ideas on how we can get this driver to work or suggestions on an alternative would be greatly appreciated.   thx.art.

Encrypting .bak files - Sql server 2005

Hi all, What options are there available to encrypt .bak files in SS2005 I'm aware of TDE in SS2008, but that seems to be only available in the Enterprise version? the company would only agree to upgrade to standard 2008 version. I'm aware I can password protect a .bak file, but that's not encrypted and can be opened in notepad. Should I be looking for third-party solutions? Regards Melt

Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005

When ever I click on an MDF file in VS2005 I get the following message.Required Components Missing.Connections to SQL Server Files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly.  Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URl: http:go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkID=49251.I think this may have been due to the install order and options I selected.1. VS2005 Pro, without SQL Server Express 2005 as I was planning to install SQL2005 Developer.2. SQL2005 Developer.I then noticed the above problem and installed SQL Server Express 2005 from the VS Pro DVD.  I still have the problem.  Any ideas how I can fix this ?

Updation of .mdf and .ldf files of sql server 2005

Hello All,

I have sql server 2005 database, which is hosted on my dedicated server. The issue is whenever i look into the default location of the .mdf and .ldf files, it shows me date of back 8 months as last modified date, although the data objects are fully updated as we make new objects everyday.

I thought it could not be a serious problem and downloaded the files to local server, then after i attached a new database by using those files and changing their names. I was wondered that it showed me the old data almost of 8 months back.

I don't know what is the problem, why these files on the server are not updating, if anyone has the solution please alert me as possible.

Instructions for setting up a Sybase ASE Server as a SQL Server 2005 Linked Server?

I have a Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise server which I need to set up as a linked server in SQL Server 2005.  The Sybase server is version 12.5.2, and the Sybase ODBC driver version is  I have already installed the Sybase client software on the server.

I also created a SystemDSN on the SQL Server to connect to the Sybase server.  I tested the connection and it was able to connect.

I ran the following code to create the linked server:

EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'LinkedServerName', @srvproduct=N'Sybase', @provider=N'MSDASQL', @datasrc=N'Sybase System DSN'

Linked server from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2005 not working

I'm trying to create a linked server from SQL Server r2 to SQL Server 2005 (both 64 bit Enterprise) using the following script

 EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver
 @server = N'TestLS'
 ,@provstr='Integrated Security=SSPI;';

I verified that the Kerberos is working.

When I try to run a four part query as below it gives me the error

Msg 18456, Level 14, State 1, Line 1
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "TestLS" returned message "Invalid connection string attribute".

If I try to set up the linked server against localhost (i.e. SQL 2008 R2, it works just fine).

Visual Studio 2005 can't find my files in subfolders, why?!

I am having a heck of a time with this.  Visual Studio 2005 SP1 can not find my files and javascript files whenever I put it in the subfolders.  In the solution explorer, I've created subolfders such as /js and /css.  This is inside my main folder:  AJAXEnabledWebApplication1\css  and AJAXEnabledWebApplication1\js

In HTML code, when I put this: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.core.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.widget.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.mouse.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="ui/jquery.ui.selectable.js"></script>

every single one of them is highlighted that it can not find the specified file.  But wait, if I add those files manually to the root folder and to the solution explorer, it is no problem!!?? why?!?

why is this happening?

inside the reference paths for the program, I've also pointed to the root folder location:

c:\document adn settings\myname\my Docum

linked server on SQL 2005 to database on AS400

We have a linked server on SQL 2005 to database on AS400. the linked server is made using Microsoft DB2OLEDB provider.
when we are using the linked server, we are getting the following error:
OLE DB provider "DB2OLEDB" for linked server "AS400PROD" returned message "".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "DB2OLEDB" for linked server "AS400PROD".
When we restart  the SQL server machine, the linked server works fine for about 5 minutes then we receive the same error as described before,
The script of the linked server is :

EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'AS400PROD', @srvproduct=N'AS400', @provider=N'DB2OLEDB', @datasrc=N'S6595D7F', @provstr=N'Provider=DB2OLEDB;Password=password;Persist Security Info=True;User;Initial Catalog=S6595D7FSD;Data Source=AS400;Network Address=;Package Collection=KFILFNBSA;DBMS Platform=DB2/AS400;Process Binary as Character=True'
/* For security reasons the linked server remote logins password is changed with ######## */
EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname=N'AS400PROD',@useself=N'False',@locallogin=NULL,@rmtuser=N'LOGINRPORT',@rmtpassword='########'

How to migrate linked server configuration SQL 2000 and 2005?

I plan to migrate a SQL 2000 instance with everything in it to another SQL2000 server, and eventually in the future to SQL 2005.

I've pretty much figured out how to migrate everything execept the linked server configuration (there're many linked servers configured in the old server with different security credentials).  I'm wondering if there's way I can save the linked server configuration and restore it to the other server.

Thanks much.
