SSRS - Report Builder - Wildcard usage in a Filter?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am trying to use a wildcard in a Filter condition within a SSRS - Report Builder report.

Are wildcards of anytime in fact allowed in this tool?  I get errors when I try to use SQL-like wildcards such as '%'.  I've also been unable to find any mention of "wildcards" in HELP.

Please help as soon as possible.  THANKS!

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Microsoft provided 3 example reports for Sharepoint report usage. Does anyone know where they are located? I used them about 2 years ago.

SSRS 2008 R2 - Query builder freezes and needs to be shut down Report Builder 3 when attempting quie

Hi, In SSRS, using Report Builder 3.0 (SSRS R2), after choosing a Report Model as the report's embedded data source, launched "Query Deisinger…" from GUI to build data source in report.  First 1-2 attempts at querying underlying data source (Oracle back-end), are successful, but later attempts freeze application to the point where application freezes and overall Report Builder application needs to be forcibly shut-down. This system freeze has occurred when referencing tables containing a very small number of records as well as larger data sets.  Suspect that application freezing may be caused by timing-out of connection to back-end database. but I am not sure. Any suggestion to solve this issue? Thanks   Environment - Distributed deployment Server1(report_srv) --Windows server 2003R2 64bit, Installed sql server 2008R2 reporting service, configuration tools Server2 (report_db_srv) --windows server 2003r2 64bit, sql server 2005 for report server database

Server 2008 R2 64 bit, SSRS 2008 64 bit with Report Builder 3.0 issues with Oracle OLE Driver

Folks, ran out of idea on this issues. Setup as shown at the Title. I can connect via VS 2010  but report builder cannot run properly when setup with connection string. I use a 32 bit Oracle Driver and VS 2010 works well with it, however, Report Builder on SSRS report a bad image issues while attempting to use the same driver. What have been tried: 1-Already attempted to try to download Oracle ODP drivers 64 bit, but current driver 11g and minor version above 11g does not install, installation failed. So far all chats indicated that Server 2008 R2 does not have a Oracle 64 bit driver provided y Oracle. Any help is appreciated ....

Report Builder 2.0 Filter Dataset NOT LIKE

I need a NOT LIKE filter in a dataset in ReportBuilder2.0. There is only a LIKE Operator to filter a dataset. The users who worked at the end with the ReportBuilder does not write custom code, iif or something else. Is there an easy way?

Report Builder 3.0 Compatibility with SSRS and Sql Server 2008 (not R2)

I've built reports in Report Builder 3.0 (which I love!). I tried to deploy the reports to an instance of SSRS installed with SQL Server 2008 (not R2). I can't deploy the reports - it appears SSRS is not forward compatible with Report Builder 3.0 reports. Would SQL Server 2008 SP1 help? Is there anything I can do to use Report Builder 3.0 with SSRS 2008?

Unfortunately, I cannot install SQL Server 2008 R2 in the production environment (yet).

I'm getting exception while running Report builder 2.0 for SSRS Reports

I'm getting Exception like Failed to Preview Report "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." for SSRS Reports from Report Builder 2.0 application? May i know the reason?
Also please inform any other way to Preview Reports On SSRS through Report Builder.?

Note : I'm Using the Report Server as remote machine.

Best Practice for connect SSRS Report Viewer Web part with custom filter web part (With Dropdown\Lis

To make a filter provider web part, I implemented the interface ITransformableFilterValues.
Implemented the various properties of the ITransformableFilterValues interface
and method that creates an instance of our filter provider.

[aspnetwebparts.ConnectionProvider("AccountFilter", "ITransformableFilterValues", AllowsMultipleConnections = true)]
public ITransformableFilterValues SetConnectionInterface()
return this;

Is this a best practice .Please share your suggestion.

Report Builder 3.0 - Map point layer is not applying filter on a dataset

I have a Report Builder 3.0 report which includes a Map object and a shared dataset (SQL against a SQL 2008 R2 database).

The Map contains a point layer which is populated by a Shared dataset in my report.  I've added some filters to this dataset (on text fields) but the Map continues to show all records and doesn't apply the filter.

I've tried the following but none work:

- Converting the Shared dataset to an embedded dataset

- Only filtering one column

- Combination of setting filters from hardcoded values and parameterised values

The Map never picks up the filter.  If I display the records from the shared dataset on a table then the filter is applied to the tabular results so I know the filter is being applied in at least one place.

I do have a workaround which is to add parameters to the SQL in the shared dataset.  Then pass parameters from my Map report to the shared dataset.  This guarantees that the parameters will be applied.  However, I would still like our users to be able to use filters for the Map.

SSRS working fine in Report builder and manager but not in Report viewer

HI I have a report that worked fine until we upgraded the SQL server from 2008 to 2008 R2 and the report viewer to latest version as well.
This report has a pie display, NOW instead of showing one pie, it is showing 20 pies!

I am trrying to learn how to resolve and what is causing this.

Report Builder Usage in the Business

Hello all,

My company recently built out a 2008R2 instance of Reporting Services (no sharepoint integration).  Previously we used 2005 and did not use report builder.  As the functionality around 3.0 report builder is much greater I'd like to roll it out to end users.  I'm interested in your experiences in rolling out the tool at your own company.  Here are some questions

1. Do you only allow users to create reports and store them in their user folders?

2. Do you allow users to create dataset / shared data sources, etc.?  Subscriptions?  Snapshots?

3. How did you approach sharing of reports within a department?  For instance, if members of the finance department are creating reports, do you allow them to publish the reports in a shared locations for other finance employee to see?

My concern revolves around having a process in place by which users can publish reports to a wider audience.  I've considered assigning and training a department 'super user' who would filter reports that would go to a 'production' folder.  Or perhaps this should be a member of IT?  Security of sensitive data is also an issue.  I'd like to guard against an end user being able to open up sensitive info to anyone they choose.

Report Builder Filter shows Field as Date Type =Text instead of Date

My Data was created by retrieving ODBC data - using PowerPivot for Excel 2010, and has Birthdate defined as a Data Type = "Date".  This was uploaded to SharePoint, and a New Dataset was created to point at it.

I'm using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0.  I tried to filter this data on Birthdate, but when I go into the Filter, and specify the field that was defined as DataType = "Date" in PowerPivot - Report Builder changes the type to "Text", and gray's out the field so that I can't change it to "Date".

If I create an Expression as Cdate(Birthdate.Value), it lets me change the Data Type to "Date", and works appropriately, but we don't want to have to do this with every date field.

Why doesn't Report Builder see this field as a Date ?
