Unable to select start node in flowchart?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application

This is weird. I'm trying to get my feet wet with WF 4 and have dropped a flowchart onto the design surface. After adding another activity I want to connect it to the Start node, but it's not available for selecting?!? It's visible but no box appears around it on mouse over.

Another symptom I noticed is that when I double-click a workflow xaml file, it's not loading the designer, but the xml view instead.

I tried repairing my VS2010 install but nothing has changed.

Unable to select any stored procedure while creating TableAdapters in wizard

I'm using VS 2008 and SQL 2008.

I have created the tables and the stored procedures in SQL 2008.

In VS 2008, I created DataSet1.xsd in App_Code and created the connectionString in web.config file.

Then when I go into the DataSet1.xsd and try to add a TableAdapter, strange things happened.

First I chose the data connection, then selected "Use existing stored procedure", then there was nothing listed in the dropdownlists (in Select, Insert, Update, or Delete).

I'm sure the connectionString is correct because if I choose "Use SQL statement" and type in a "select * from mytable1", the TableAdapter can be created without any problem.

Any suggestions?

Expand specific Node in a flowchart

I am looking to expand the specific node in flowchart thru code. Is there any way to achieve this. I was going thru some post & found something ModelItemExtensions. ModelService modelService = wd.Context.Services.GetService<ModelService>();   //IEnumerable<ModelItem> activityCollection = modelService.Find(modelService.Root, typeof(Activity)); I am getting the modelitem collection as mentioned in below code instead of using ModelService.Find() method ModelItemCollection modelItems = modelService.Root.Content.Collection; I needed to use above code as Find() method was hanging the app. I am creating the instance of UserControl inside my activity & that seems to hang the Find() method. ModelItemExtensions.Focus(activityCollection.ElementAt(6)); Above code works for Activity but not for FlowChart (I am getting the collection using modelService.Root.Content.Collection). Any suggestions would be appreciable.

Unable to start T-SQL debugging SQL Server 2008

I'm getting exactly the same problem described here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/dcc851e7-35d7-492a-b15c-7dffe47110ed --------------------------- Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio --------------------------- Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Lastly (not sure if this is useful or not) I tried attaching to the Ssms.exe process from Visual Studio 2008 and I get the following output when I try debugging:  ... Unable to connect to local host service when a splash screen is show before start the services

Hi all:

I want to show a splash screen before start the local host services, the host can be open without error, however the client (Form1) is not able to connect to the service. Without the splash screen, every thing work fine. Any idea why ?

Here is the code.

End Interface

Public Class HelloWorldService

Unable to start/stop SharePoint 2010 service

I've developed customs SharePoint 2010 Service based on this tutorial: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dtaylor/archive/tags/calculator+service+example/

My first version inherits from SPIisWebService (and SPIisWebServiceInstance, SPIisWebServiceApplication etc..) - everything worked fine.

Then I redesigned my service to inherits from SPWindowsService (and SPWindowsServiceInstance, SPWindowsServiceApplication etc...). Everything works fine without one thing:) - I'm not able to start or stop Service (neither from PowerShell nor SP Central Admin page). After installed my service, it is started. When I uninstall it and install once again - it's still started.

When I try to stop it (or start on clear SharePoint environment), I've got the following exception (where IntegrationService is the name of my service)

System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: IntegrationService

Unable to start debugging on the web server. The IIS worker process for the launched URL is not curr

Unable to start debugging on the web server. The IIS worker process for the launched URL is not currently running.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, VS 2008 sp1.

When I first try to debug I get the error msg above.  I wait a few minutes (presumably some service is starting) and debugging will start but no breakpoints are recognized.

Some of the things I've tried:

Changing the binding of my site from a static IP to "*".

Enabled windows authentication.

made sure localhost = in the hosts file.

The website was built under windows xp and whatever version of IIS ships with xp.  My web config has no errors that I know of but might be missing something required for iis 7 (??)

Unable to open MSDB node

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this but it eludes me at the moment.
I'm using the Developer Edition of SQL Server 2005.

The MSDB node under Integration Services->Stored Packages refuses to open.
It always fails with a login timeout message and that the connection was
actively refused.

I've run the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration tool and allowed remote
and local access, even though it's all installed on the local machine. This
didn't help.

The next thing I did was to turn off all my firewalls and internet access
control software and it's still not working.

I'm using integrated authentication and the user is part of the
administrators group,
any ideas how I can try and rectify this?

trying to select non-existent node in listview databound event icw xmldatasource

Protected Sub repLocationsToCompare_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewItemEventArgs) Handles repLocationsToCompare.ItemDataBound

Dim enumerable As IEnumerable = System.Web.UI.XPathBinder.Select(e.Item.DataItem, "./str[@name=""thumb""]")

Now, it might be that the current dataitem does NOT contain the <str name="thumb"></str> node. So in that case when I do this:
Dim name As String = enumerable.Cast(Of XmlElement)().Select(Function(x) x.Attributes("name")).FirstOrDefault().Value
the enumerable throws an error of object reference not set to instance of object.

I tried testing it like this:
Dim enumerable As IEnumerable = System.Web.UI.XPathBinder.Select(e.Item.DataItem, "./str[@name=""thumb""]")
if enumerable isnot nothing then
Dim name As String = enumerable.Cast(Of XmlElement)().Select(Function(x) x.Attributes("name")).FirstOrDefault().Value
end if

But still I get the error.

How can I test if the node exists for the current dataitem?

Calendar View: Unable filter Recurring Event by Start/End Time and Group by Recurring Event View

Hi All,
I have just found several issues with Calendar View from WSS 3.0:

Unable to filter by [Start Time] and [End Time]
I am not sure why these 2 columns doesn't appear in the Filtering column in the View Settings. The workaround found in the internet is to create calculated column for Start Time and and End Time. However, it doesn't work for Recurring Event, the calculated column will show only first recurring event Start Time.

Unable to use "Group By"
When I create new view in Calendar using format: "Standard View, with Expanding Recurring Events", there is no option to specify "Group By". Anyone knows how to show all recurring event in List view and grouped by Start Time (or any other column).

Thank you and apprecate for any idea.

SQL server 2005 cluster - second node - sql service will not start - node is showing down in cluster

I am tryng to get the second node in a two node cluster to start sql services and come up in the cluster.  The second node was configured and running in a cluster when at some point, the sql service and/or cluster service went down.  Now the node will not start...as in SQL service fails and the system log error is:

"The disk associated with cluster disk resource 'Disk Q:' could not be found. The expected signature of the disk was BF17D33C. If the disk was removed from the server cluster, the resource should be deleted. If the disk was replaced, the resource must be deleted and created again in order to bring the disk online. If the disk has not been removed or replaced, it may be inaccessible at this time because it is reserved by another server cluster node."

and the Application log shows:

Error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) occurred while opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf' to obtain configuration information at startup. An invalid startup option might have caused the error. Verify your startup options, and correct or remove them if necessary.

I had to edit the startup parameters on the second node because it appears it cannot "see" the original path, which was a network driv
