Problem with Metadata Exchange

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

We have a problem with metadata exchange during proxy class generation with svcutil. This problem is closely related with size of file, that contains ServiceContract definition (for example, there is no error if some FaultContracts are commented)

Thanks, Alexey

Email Problem with Exchange 2010

Good day,   I recently upgraded a server of mine with a simple ASP site to server 2008 and it sent emails from exchange 2003 with no problems after the upgrade to server 2008.  Here is the code: private void SendTextMessageCC(string fromAddress, string fromName, string toAddress, string subject, string body, string ccAddress) { try { MailAddress fromAdd = new MailAddress(fromAddress, fromName); MailAddress toAdd = new MailAddress(toAddress); MailAddress ccAdd = new MailAddress(ccAddress); MailMessage msg = new MailMessage(fromAdd, toAdd); msg.Subject = subject; msg.Body = body; msg.CC.Add(ccAdd); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient("deexch1.****.com"); // localhost client.Send(msg); // msg.DeliveryNotificationOptions = 0; // 2 means OnFailure was 1 but that was error 0 okay means "None" } catch (SmtpException s) { lblSuccess.Text = s.Message; } } Now this week I upgraded my Exchange Server to 2010 and changed the smtpclient string accordingly above to SmtpClient("draw-mail1.****.com"). It will not send emails from the se

Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled Problem under IIS7

I am struggling with an issue that I haven't seen before, at least not without a simple resolution. I have seen numerous articles about this issue but I haven't found one that actually gives a solution that works and its really becoming a royal pain.

I am getting the message, "Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled" when attempting to host my service in IIS7 on windows 7. I have only seen this problem since I migrated to VS2010 using the .NET 4 Framework.

I have adjusted my web.config file in effort of resolving the problem but to no avail. Anyone here able to help me out on this one? I am totally exhausted on going in circles for this issue.

Here is my code:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
    <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" />
        <behavior name ="MapServiceBehavior">
          <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/>

MetaData Problem: SymmetricSecurityBindingElement

I am figuring out someone else's code and I am trying to generate a proxy out of one of the services and it generates the following error...

System.InvalidOperationException: An exception was thrown in a call to a policy export extension. Extension: System.ServiceModel.Channels.SymmetricSecurityBindingElement Error: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: parameters ----> System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.

Can anyone direct me in the right direction. how can I solve the problem?

Problem updating a managed metadata column value

I have a document library where I've added a managed metadata column that contains a list of city names.
So far so good, I can add documents and set a value for this column.

The problem starts when modifying a city name. E.g. I change New York into Washington.
All items that were linked to New York will still show New York and not Washington.
When adding a new document I can pick Washington from the list of cities, but in my view it will still show New York (even though I picked Washington and there is no sign of New York in the values). When opening "view properties" it will still show New York. When opening "edit properties" it will show Washington.

This is very confusing to users (and also for me)!
Is there a timer job or something that should run before all items will use the correct updated value ?

Managed Metadata Service Application Problem

I've been trying for a whole day to configure managed metadata services on a windows server 2008 R2 environment but I keep getting this error:

The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator.

I've tried searching for a resolution and here's what I got:

  1. Change the application pool account / Check that the pool is running.
  2. Download hot fixes KB981002 and KB976462.
  3. IISRESET / Restart the server.
  4. Ensure that Managed Metadata service is running.

The third solution worked for me in my development environment which is Windows 7, but I couldn't get it to work in Windows server 2008 R2 which is the production environment.

Any help would be appreciated :)

BDC Metadata Cache Problem (LobSystem)

While we were creating and using some Views in a Business Data Catalog webpart, we encountered a metadata cache problem. It seems that Sharepoint only caches 100 items of the LobSystem type, and we have 114. Is there a way to raise this cache limit? Thank you!

Problem to group radio button across gridview rows

In general no one can easily group or make a single selection from radio button list inside gridview rows. There are a lot of way to make a single or unique selection from list. Here i want to share how i can address this problem in the most easiest way. Googling the problem most of the cases i saw the grouping in horizontal way. Thats why i tried to group the radio buttons in vertical manner. Let i have a requirement like below:

ASP.Net Caching problem ??

I'm having a problem with an asp.net 3.0 application using a gridview to display data.  The problem seems to be that despite a brand new .selectCommand being sent to the sqlDataSource, the gridview starts displaying data from *someone else's* query.  For example, user A is logged in and will be working fine until a few page submissions later when the gridview data starts suddenly showing information that belongs to another user.

This is my first asp.net application, though I've been working with classic asp and ADO for years so I'm used to sending a SQL string and getting back the results from that string.  Apparently there is a complex caching system which is interferring which I do not at all understand so at this point I just want to stop the server from caching any data whatsoever.  Is this possible?

Any and all help will be much appreciated!!

Could some one tell me whats the Problem with this String Manipulation ??? C#.net

I store some values from code behind to a label which is Hidden !

<asp:Label ID="lbl_Hidden" runat="server" Visible = "false"></asp:Label>

and at the page load event i retrieve the value of the label & assign it to a string !

stringvalue = lbl_Hidden.Text;

Now i dont know why this manipulation does'nt work !

I've a character 'A' in the string and i'm unable to replace it with a space !

stringvalue.Replace(A, " ");

Wot do u think abt it ????

RaiseEvent problem

I have a parent page ProdView.aspx and two static UserControls, UC1 and UC2. Each UC is in an Ajax accordion pane and the accordion inside an updatepanel.

UC1 has a Gridview footer with couple of textboxes and a link button that fires an Add Row insert procedure. I want to Raise an event that will rebind the UC2 after the row insert in UC1.

First I created the sub delegate and event in UC1:

  • Public Delegate Sub MyRefresh(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As CommandEventArgs)
  • Public Event Refresh_UC1 As MyRefresh

In the same UC1 the Insert procedure that fires the insert and RaiseEvent:

Sub PricingGrid_Insert(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
       Dim myConn As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("LocalSqlServer").ConnectionString)
       Dim myCom As SqlCommand = New SqlCommand("AddRow", myConn)
       myCom.CommandText = "AddRow"
       myCom.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure

Gridview Enable Selection Problem

I have a gridview with Enable selection and Enable Paging equals to TRUE.

I also set the PageSize of my gridview to 4 so that I only displays 4 rows per page.

The problem is when I click the pager in the bottom of my gridview, my gridview is disappearing and no records appear.

Here is code behind of my gridview:

If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
                e.Row.Attributes("style") = "cursor:pointer"

                e.Row.Cells(2).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(3).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(4).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(5).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))
                e.Row.Cells(6).Attributes.Add("onclick", Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEventReference(sender, "Select$" & e.Row.RowIndex.ToString))

Problem making Role based Menu in MVC application

 I want to make Rolebase menu in MVC such that if user doesnot have permission for some action then that Action name shouldnot be shown in the Menu.

 I have used the code in the url(http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx) in my MVC application.My application is a Discussion Forum(in MVC) same functionality as in this forum forums.asp.net

 I have used Controllers for post, thread etc.In each controller there are some actions that are using [Authorize(Roles)] attribute

 but this coding does not count  those Actions in Controllers having Authorize attribute according to the url http://forums.asp.net/t/1566328.aspx

 In the code, Authorize attribute is applied to Controller class, but my requirement is of Applying Authorize attribute to some actions in controller so that some are available for all users and  some links are available rolewise.Now what is the solution for that?

Problem upgrading to MVC3 - System.Web.Routing

I'm trying to upgrade to .NET 4 and MVC 3.

When trying to compile my project, I get the error:

Error 1 The type or namespace name 'Routing' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?) C:\Users\spencer\Desktop\weblauncher\Common\MVCConfig.cs 4 18 Common

The type or namespace name 'Routing' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

I do have the System.Web.Routing in my references for the project.

BUT - when I try to view System.Web.Routing in the OBJECT BROWSER, nothing is inside!  The System.Web.Routing namespace is not in there - the entire thing is empty!  Could it that the dll is corrupted?  I tried to reinstall the .NET 4 and MVC 3 stuff, but its still empty!

The dll is coming from here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\.NETFramework\v4.0\System.Web.Routing.dll

and the runti
