Changing Binding from WsHttp to BasicHttp

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I had an sample app woking fine with WsHttpBinding when i changed it to BasicHttpBinding(for Silverlight) it throwing Excptions.

I removed removed(SessionMode=SessionMode.Required) in Session Attribute. that does't work when ever i make a call to service its crating new object and throwing NullReference exception. I think this is something regarding todo with Sessions.

Did any one come across this Problem.

Any help is Appretiated.

Changing datacontext gives binding errors

On the change of the datacontext (of a user control), I check the type of the datacontext. If required (in my case, the datacontext is of a specific type), I want to change the datacontext. As soon as I change the datacontext, the DataContext property is correctly updated. However, I still get binding errors that "Property 'x' is not found on type 'y'", where 'y' is the old datacontext type. Is there any specific steps I have to take to successfully update the datacontext (and the bindings) to the new datacontext object?Geert van Horrik - CatenaLogic Visit my blog: http://blog.catenalogic.com Looking for a way to deploy your updates to all your clients? Extend existing service to BasicHTTP & WsHTTP

I have written a WCF service and exposing that as windows service. I have 'windows service' type project added to the solution and everything works as expected. Now, I wanted to expose same service via basicHTTPBinding & wsHTTPBinding. For this do I have add another project with ".svc" file? right now my project does not contain any .svc files!! This perticular server is running on server as a windows server which I deplyoed using setup. The DLL's related to this are located in C:\WindowsServerApp Again when I deploy for BasicHttpBinding & WsHttpBinding, do I have to deploy the same DLL's to virtual directory?

Changing the binding for a GridView column

I have a gridview bound to a SQL Select statement. I want the binding of one of the columns to depend on one of the values in the database record. For example, say I have a SQL table containing FirstName, LastName, ShowFirstName.

I want a the Name column in my Gridview to be bound to FirstName if ShowFirstName is 1, and bound to LastName if ShowFirst Name is 0.

What's the easiest way to do that?

BasicHttp binding service failing when receiving a message with a To soap header

My WCF service is exposed through a basicHttp binding.

When I receive the following message

 <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <s:Header> <To s:mustUnderstand="1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2005/05/addressing/none">http://biztalk01:81/StuffServices.svc</To> </s:Header> <s:Body> <ns0:GetMyStuff xmlns:ns0="http://example.com/stuff" xmlns:ns1="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/Arrays"> <ns0:inputArray> <ns1:string>80220</ns1:string> </ns0:inputArray> </ns0:GetMyStuff > </s:Body> </s:Envelope>

it gives a fault back, but if I try in soapUI to send the exact same request without the To header (deleting the "<To s:mustUnderstand="1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/ws/2005/05/addressing/none" >http://biztalk01:81/StuffServices.svc "), then it works fine and returns the correct response.

Do I have any way to make my service handle that request including a To header correctly?

I tried changing my binding to a CustomBinding as described here : http://blog.irm.se/blogs/eric/archive/2008/07/04/WS_2D00_Addressing-and-WCF.aspx

but that only resulted in the IIS worker proc

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

Binding Nested Listviews in MVC ViewPage

I am a longtime .NET developer but for big applications and services.  This is my first asp.net project and I have chosen MVC.   I have a need for nesting a ListView within a ListView.  In this simple catalog app, I have EF 4 Entities that are Categories, SubCategories, ItemTypes, and Items.

My goal is to display a 5 column layout of SubCategories with their ItemTypes below them in a ViewPage.  I did just fine with it done out in C# as server directives such as:

    var subcats = Model.SubCategory.ToArray();
    var nrSubCats = subcats.Count();
    var rows = (nrSubCats/5) + (((nrSubCats % 5) > 0) ? 1 : 0);
    for (var row = 0; row < rows; row++)
    { %>
        <div style="width: 100%; float: left; clear: right;">
        var start = row * 5;
        for (var i = start; (i < start + 5) && (i < nrSubCats); i++)
        var subcat = subcats[i];
            <div style="float: left; clear: right; width: 20%; margin-left: 5;">
                <h2> <%:subcat.Name%></h2>
                    foreach (var its in subcat.ItemType)

Problem with changing language using culture info

I'm using the following msdn article to use different languages in my web application:

I'm following the instructions step by step in VS 2010, and it creates the resource files exactly how it's supposed to.

However, when I run the program it just doesn't apply it. I don't see the different values from the resource file.

If I leave my resource file name as sample.aspx.resx, it works. But when I change it to sample.aspx.en-us.resx, it doesn't work. I'm supplying culture from the aspx page's Culter and UICulture properties. I'm being very careful in choosing the correct file name, as that could be the issue,  but it just doesn't work. I also tried changing the culture in the backend code this way:
