Hello,We are planning to start a discussion board / forum on our SharePoint environment. The default SP 2007 look and feel does not meet our requirements, we want a bit more user friendly look and feel. We will go to SP 2010 not long after release, can someone maybe post a print screen of an example of SP 2010 discussion board? Or extra info about the differences with SP 2007? Can find those on the internet. Thanks!Regards,Joeri
I have already developed Silverlight application in SharePoint 2010 using client object model.
But I have one scenario that user can comment on the item, so there is a update operation come in picture for user, but user have read only permission to site.
So please help me resolved this problem.
We can use Run with elevated privileges method in SP object model. I think Silverlight client object model don’t support this method.
Is there any alternative workaround to solve this problem?
I have published an Access 2010 database to Sharepoint 2010. It is pretty basic and essentially it is just used for teachers to enter lesson plans. When viewing the site there is a form that has several dropdown menus. The user should be
able to choose their name, date, etc. from these dropdown menus. The problem is that when I click on a dropdown menu the menu just shows a message that says "This service isn't available right now". I also get a message that pops up which
says "You do not have permission to view the records. To obtain permission contact your site administrator."
The weird thing is that when I was testing this at one point I clicked the dropdown menu and it did work. I clicked off the dropdown menu and went right back to it again and it didn't work.
I have anonymous access enabled for this site. However, I have tried it with an anonymous user as well as with the user account that installed Sharepoint and published the database to Sharepoint and it doesn't work either way.
Is this a permission issue on the site or something else? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have created a custom discussion list definition using Visual Studio 2010 in SharePoint 2010. I had an issue, since by default, Visual Studio creates the custom discussion list definition as custom list. So, I have modified the my own Schema.xml with the
standard SharePoint discussion Schema.xml by adding views section.
Could anybody face this problem? Please suggest on how to resolve this issue.

I have Sharepoint Enterprise RTM Trial on Windows Server 2008 SP2.
I have a team site in which i have a flyout Quick Launch menu as describe in
technet discussion . I just wanted to add a level 2 (sub level of a level) in Quick launch, for example:
Heading > Sub heading > Link 1
> Link 2
I have tried it from Site settings > Navigation page but i have found that a heading cannot be created in a heading i.e, sub heading is not allowed....
Is it possible to achieve this task without writing code ?
I have setup Discussions on SharePoint 2010 and users have linked these discussions to Outlook 2010. Permissions on the discussion board are setup such that every user is a contributor (i.e. they can post messages). On SharePoint, the permissions
seem to work properly; that is users can post messages and delete/modify their
own messages. However, within Outlook, users can delete anyone's
message. We just had an incident where a user deleted ALL messages in his Outlook SharePoint list and it deleted all messages from the SharePoint site too.
Is there a permission setting that I don't have set properly?
Thanks for your help.
I get a huge fire alarm every month or two. Our users like to post and receive all the SharePoint lists from Outlook, but sometimes there will be mass reposts of old items, or deletion of mass items when they aren't even logged into SharePoint, or deletes
a mass of discussion board entries when (again) the user isn't even in SharePoint nor deleted them from Outlook. I can't recreate the issue, and it seems completely at random. Any ideas what I can do to recreate, fix, or find out what is causing this?
This is a really big issue.
Its a MOSS 2007 server with Outlook 2010, and they are connected (Actions -> Connect with Outlook).
