Sharepoint 2010 List from Excel Spreadsheet to Display as Options in Infopath 2010

I have an Infopath 2010 form where I want the users to be able to display the cost of something based on the results of the data in an excel spreadsheet.

This spreadsheet does not have to stay a spreadsheet, I can import it into a List if that will make this work. So the spreadsheet has types of appraisals along the "X" axis and then individual States along the "Y" axis.

So if I am filling out the form - I want a "residential" appraisal and it is going to be in "California" - that should return the cost.

Any help woudl be appreciated. I am not sure exactly where to start.

Infopath Form Data submitting to Sharepoint 2010 List

Making a Client intake form that once submitted will send data to  a sharepoint 2010 List called contacts. Short Summary the form will have repeating fields and alot of information to submit. I have looked and read all over but I cannot find an easy step by step guild on how to submit the form data like that. Long Summary on the sharepoint site a button will open a form for adding a new client.  once the form has been filled out and the user hits submit sharepoint will then create a User File, in clients file, and take the data and put it into contacts list. I am trying to make use of Sharepoint as I would with access, meaning the more information I have on a client the easier it will be to mail merge letters, motions, basicly any file prepaired stuff. Cannot display list in Datasheet view sharepoint 2010

Hello, I encounter the following errror when I want to display a list in datasheet view: The error messaqe says: A datasheet component compatible wiht Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation is not installed Your web browser doesnt support active x controls a component is not properly configured for 30-bit or 64-bit support. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I am running windows 7 X64 + Office 2010 x64 Internet explorer: 8.0 Thanks a lot, Jacques

SharePoint 2010 Export list Items to Excel, wrong url in iqy file

Hi, I have a SharePoint 2010 Environment that uses https://portal.<something>.com. Exporting to Excel of a list uses wrong URL. When I go to the a list, select the list to show the "office ribbon" and then select export to excel, excel will show the error "Excel cannot connect to the SharePoint List". When I take a look at the IQY file that is created it contains the wrong url: http://portal.<something>.com instead of https://portal.<something>.com Changing the URL in the IQY file manualy to https://portal.<something>.com and then opening it will excel is working fine, list data is exported to excel then. Alternate access mapping is configured to use https://portal.<something>.com as default, export to access is working normaly. I already deleted the http://portal.<something>.com alternate access mapping once to see if this fixes the problem. No fix, even not after IISreset or rebooting the server. Where or how is the export to Excel IQY file created and where is it possible to fix the URL it is putting in the IQY file? Grtz, Arjan

Infopath 2010 Beta Sharepoint List

Earlier, I had issues with Forms Services not appearing in Sharepoint, which was resolved with a reinstall of Sharepoint with Enterprise Feartures.

Now I am trying to create a Sharepoint List form from Infopath 2010 Beta. When I try to browse the Sharepoint site url, I get the following error message:
"This feature requires InfoPath Form Services 2010 or greater on the Sharepoint site." InfoPath Designer 2010 Beta error message

InfoPath Form Services 2010 is certainly enabled on the site as the following screenshot shows:

Using Infopath 2010 to customize a SharePoint 2010 list with columns using Managed Metadata


Hello All-

I would like to customize the "new" form on a SharePoint list that has some columns that use managed metadata term sets as options.  Unfortunately, when I do so, I get the message:

"InfoPath cannot generate a form template for the SharePoint list."

The following fields in the SHarePoint list are not supported because of their data type and will not be available in InfoPath Designer:

-MyColumnName (TaxonomyFieldTypeMulti)

This error message seems to be pretty self explanatory, but it boggles my mind that this would be the case.  Can I really not customize my list "new" form in Infopath if I am using columns with managed metadata?  Any workarounds?

Submitting data from Infopath 2010 to a Sharepoint 2010 list fail


Hello everybody,

I'm trying to submit data from an Infopath 2010 form to a Sharepoint list using the following tutorial: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc162745(office.12).aspx 

However this doesn't work. The form creates new entries but when you whant to change or delete an entry, I get the following error: Object reference not set to an instance to an object. Any idea what is wrong with the code?

Updating sharepoint 2010 list using infopath 2010


i have a InfoPath form that is updating a SharePoint list when it is submitted. Now i added some extra Fields to the Sharepoint List. All these new Fields are empty till I open the InfoPath form and hit the submit buttion again.  For eample:
I have created a quarterly vacation form with a user name and employee number.  Also I have 3 months listed by work day ( Employee name, Employee Number, 1-1,1-2,1-3...(january 1st, 2nd, 3rd...)
The employee opens the form and searches for their employee number.  The first time the form appears with their name and number with all the months NOT checked.  I tested that I am on the right record by manually updating the record then running the form to get the necessary information by employee number.  It fills out the for correctly.  But it is when I want to change that information and place the changes back that I am having a issue with.
If InfoPath can't handle this would Visual Studio be able to do this? 
I am using InfoPath 2010, Sharepoint 2010, Exchange 2010

Sharepoint 2010 w/ Webapps, Excel Services Webpart display issue.


I have Sharepoint 2010 installed with WebApps 2010, and can use it to edit documents in IE without any problems at all.  Word and Excel work just fine.

But on MOSS 2007, I could have it display the Excel page as a webpart, that you can click on, and open it anyways.   But no matter what I try in 2010, all I get is the Webpart heading has a link to the file that works, but the contents always reads:

To display a workbook in this Web Part, you must first select the workbook.

To select a workbook, open the tool pane, and then edit the Workbook property.
Click here to open the tool pane.


How can I fix the preview in the webpart?




SharePoint 2010 - Photo Displays in MySite - Photo Doesn't Display in Contact List


MySite is up and running fine.  I am adding photos through Central Administration > Manage User Profiles.  All photos are syncing and showing up in contact lists whenever someone is added to a "Person or Group" Name (with picture) column. 

I recently added someone, uploaded their photo.  It syncs fine with AD, can see it in the thumbnailPhoto attribute for this user.  I looked in the UserProfile_Full.PictureURL column in the Profile DB.  It is there as well (http://sharepoint:80/my/User Photos/Profile Pictures/DOMAIN_USERNAME_MThumb.jpg).  The photo refuses to display in the contact list. 

This is only happening for one user.  Any ideas?

Hi All,

we receive error  while trying to create excel sheet using the template we have uploaded on the SharePoint 2007.


This occurs on a machine that has Office 2010 installed. Earlier the machine had Office 2007 and everything was working fine.


Can you let me know why is problem is coming and how to resolve this.

Does Sharepoint 2007 Server support the new Excel 2010 feaures like slicers? Or do i have to have Sharepoint 2010 to get that working (considering all other components besides Sharepoint 2010 are available in my Sharepoint 2007 environment) ?

How to use display Text in Hyperlink For SharePoint 2010 Designer Workflow


In SharePoint 2007 Designer, I have used the Hyperlink column to store the link "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details". The details text will be shown in the Hyperlink column. Everything works fine in sharepoint 2007 Designer workflow.

In SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflow, I used the same method but the hyperlink column is displaying the full text "http://www.sharepoint.com/Default.aspx, Details" instead of only Details
