Removing Distribution lists from 'Memberships' section of Profile Page

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We are using SharePoint 2010 with User Profile Service and My Site enabled. And we do not want to display 'Distribution Lists' in the Membership's section of Profile Page.

We have done UPS -> Manage Policies -> Distribution Lists (Edit) ->

Policy Setting - Disabled

Default Privacy Policy - Only me. (Because we did not find other suitable option)

But still DL's are appearing in the Profile Page.

Customize the User Profile page

I need to add a "link" or "button" to the User Profile page (userdisp.aspx).  In SP2007, I had a custom feature that would forward the user to a custom aspx page, but that doesn't appear to work in 2010.  Is there a recommended method of customizing the User Profile page in 2010?

Profile page throwing an error after adding some "ask me about" tags

After adding some "ask me about" tags my profile page is throwing an error. To be more precise the AskMeAbout WebPart ist throwing a thread aborted exception and I don't understand the reason for this error. After removing the tags the sites works again. Some tags work but after trying some other tags the profile page is broken again. Unhandled exception caught during execution of Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.PageBase::ErrorHandler(). How to Create a Curriculum Vitae For every user on there profile page?

Hi, I have to create a Curriculum Vitae on everyones users profile page so they can fill it in and afterwards we can do searches on it to see the experience of our people. This has to be done in a webpart. All ideas are welcome... i have no idea how i need to start on this.. i was thinking of making a list and saving all data of everyuser in the list (but if i put a webpart on the profile page i guess i will only have 1 list for all users or not?). Or maybe creating a wiki with all the userprofiles and then a webpart that query's the wiki.. but will the search work then?   What would be the best sollution?  I'm working with sharepoint 2010 Enterprise Thanks a lot!!!   TIM

Issues with updating Lists with Manager Names and User Profile Imports in SharePoint 2010 Server

I am having a curious problem with SharePoint 2010 Server. I have imported all the user profiles of our organization into SharePoint User Profile Service Application from our Active Directory. When the Manager name imports it comes in as domain/login. The organizational browser seems to work for MOST people, but not all. I believe this is contributing to my second problem, which is, I have setup a very simple workflow in SharePoint Designer that simply looks up the persons Manager, then places that information into a field called "Approval 1". After that it looks at Approval 1 and get the Manager name and populated "Approval 2" with that information, and so on. I have used an Impersonation Step as the Farm Administrator in the workflow and I have done it without the impersonation step. Both results in the same problem. When I enter my name into the list and run the workflow it runs beautifully give every manager up the chain to the top. However, if I put any other person's name in there it gives me the error "Workflow failed to get user profile for user: ____". I went to my supervisor's office and asked him to run the workflow. Using his login he had the exact same result--if my name was in there it worked great, otherwise, it gave an error. Any help with this strange error would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

MySite user profile site creation of My Content page is created as provisioned failed (unprovisioned

I've been trying to troubleshoot our User Profile Sync and have noticed the profile pages weren't getting updated with everything.  Most content was but things like memberships and the content tabs weren't.  I also saw this error in ULS: ProfSynch: Exception attempting to enumerate site 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e for ContentDB 23a6e3ef-6d56-4bde-825e-95c6924e2f91: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.ProfileSynchronizationInternalException: ProfSynch: The site with ID 25a72070-4249-4698-ae99-c2a45d25b08e cannot be synchronized due to an unprovisioned root web.      at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.GetSynchInfoForSite(SqlDataReader dr, SynchInfo info)      at Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.SiteSynchronizerCollection.<get_Elements>d__0.MoveNext() I checked in the MySite database under the webs table and noticed all the My Content sites for all of our users had the flag column with the number 1315 in them - (meaning unprovisioned as the error above states).  Cross checking with the User Sync Profile database under the SiteSynch table I noticed all of the sites have NULL for the value under both the LastSynch and ChangeToken columns (The User Profile Service Application - User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization  timer job takes care of populating that).&

Hi, I created a publication site and in that site i created pages with specifique metadata (using a pagelayout with a custom content type)0. My webpart is getting data from those pages and displaying it. My webpart works on every page except on the "my profile" page(overview tab). Replace standart DispForm with my application page for External Lists

Hi all,

I'd like to use my application pages (with code behind, not modified with Sharepoint Designer pages) for View/Edit/New operations.

As I know there is an issue how to do it:

SPContentType ct=web.Lists["ListName"].ContentTypes["ContentTypeName"];

ct.EditFormUrl="_layouts/youreditpage.aspx";

ct.Update();

And this works fine for common Lists, but when I'm trying to do it with External List,

I have an Exception on Update method:

SPException: The collection cannot be modified.

I've tryied:

web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;

//or

ct.ReadOnly = false;

// or
ct.Sealed = false;

and nothing of it helped me...

Is anybody knows how can I make it? May be another method to do it?

Sharepoint foundation and distribution lists

Hi, I have a contact list in outlook exchange which contains a list of contacts and distribution lists. I would like to move this data onto a sharepoint list. The individual contacts have copied across with no problems the distributions lists which have groups of users inside them did not copy across. Can anyone tell me if they are supported at all in sharepoint foundation 2010?

Add item to external list from profile page

I have three external lists that are related. The list is searchable, and the results send you to a profile page that has the first list, which is the user information, and then two other related lists below that. On one of the related lists, I would like to add an "add item" link.

For example: You have a customer profile, with a list of that customer's orders, and you click add order under the order section, and it fills in the customer id number automatically, then you can fill out the rest, which populates the list.

I am guessing I need to do this with a custom action. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Removing "External List" option from Custom Lists?

We are in the process of upgrading from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010.  Our business users have noticed a new option of creating a new "External List" under the Custom Lists heading.  Is there any way to remove the External List option without having to customize the create.aspx page?

Customize Profile Page

Hello,

I am currently working on a SP 2010 project. I want to add an image next to the Person’s name in the Profile page.

The following piece of code in Person.aspx page is responsible for the person’s name:

<div style="padding-top: 50px;vertical-align:top;" class="ms-name ms-contactcardtext1" id

render data - BCS profile page

Hi,

I am searching an external source(SQL Server) using BCS, the content coming from the table is in html format (having tags, stored in table) and it is not rendering into html on a Profile Page (when i click search result to view individual item).

When I search for something it shows me html data as text, I want this text to be rendered into html so that its readable.

HTML data coming from database :

 "<html xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt"><head><META http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-16"><base target="_blank"><style>BODY, TD{background-color:#ffffff;font-family:verdana;font-size:10pt;}</style></head><body><table cellspacing="2" cellpadding="4" width="100%" height="100%"><tr><td style="font-family:verdana;font-size:16pt;">Car won't start</td></tr><tr><td style="color:#666666;font-size:9pt;">KBA-01000-56GTRK</td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:10pt;font-weight:bold;color:#000066;border-bottom:1px solid #999999;">Problem</td></tr><tr><td>The user cannot start their car.</td></tr><tr><td style="font-size:10pt;font-weight:bold;color:

Profile import from Novell eDirectory (Error One or more values typed on this page are not valid)

We have a requirement to authenticate the users to Active Directory but get their profile information from Novell GDS. Accounts are syncronized between Novell and Active Directory by the Novell Identity Manager Solution.

After applying custom master page, "Current View" drop down is no longer functional on Lists

The "Current View" drop down is not dropping down anymore when on the list library ribbon with a custom master page applied. Of course, it does work fine with v4.master. I would list all the custom master page changes however they are numerous. So I am looking to see if there are any ribbon experts that can give me things to at least look for. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Missing profile pics for some users in Group lists

For some reason, most of the profile pics that people upload don't appear in Group lists.  The profile imagine appears just fine in My Site/My Profile, as well as in the Search Center, but we just see the default picture placeholder image for them in a Group list.  There are a few users, though, whose images appear just fine in all locations.

Not sure where to look...  any pointers?

I'm dealing with ribbon customization and it's working quite well. But when I try to change (remove or add) buttons to Ribbon.PublishTab.Publishing it is not working:
