Web Application created, but nothing in IIS Manager

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I installed SharePoint Server 2010 as a single server with a built-in database. I went ahead and created a new web application, and that was successfule - but checking in the IIS Manager, I don't see the Web Application

It was created on port 80.

What can be the issue here?

Web Security: Part 2: Introducing the Web Application Manager, Client Authentication Options, and Pr

This article, the second of two parts, continues coverage of Web security for Windows. It introduces the Web Application Manager in IIS that allows Web processes to be isolated, decreasing the security risk associated with running in a logon session. The article then picks up where Part One left off-it discusses authentication methods such as basic authentication, digest authentication, integrated Windows authentication, and anonymous logons, and the benefits and drawbacks of each.

How to set Host's Domain Manager in a created AppDomain

I am not sure if this is possible but I would want something similar to loading the Host's domain manager to my new AppDomain. There is no Domain Manager for a newly created AppDomain. Owing to this many of my subsequent call fails. For example if I make a call to "Assembly.GetEntryAssembly" it returns null in the new AppDomain. To workaround this I will have to call "AppDomain.ExecuteAssembly("entryassembly")" in my created AppDomain. I actually do not have a need to do this in my application. Similarly there are other calls such as "ScriptEngine.GetSearchPaths". This again does not return the expected search paths in my new AppDomain. Again if I perform "AppDomain.ExecuteAssembly("entryassembly")" then the expected search path is returned. So in short a domain manager is created in my new AppDomain only when i execute the entry assembly in my new AppDomain; which internally provides me a domain manager similar to the Host's domain Manager (as i execute the same entry assembly). Is there a way to load the Host's domain manager without executing any assembly in my new AppDomain. I am using VS 2008, .Net Framework 2.0.

Don't see tab and toolbar of the report manager application after installing sql server reporting s

Hello everyone: I have tried to install and configure Reporting Service. I found lots of  errors along the way. The first one was an error (500.23) from IIS7. I applied the suggested solution on the IIS screen which was migrating configuration using AppCmd ( %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd migrate config "Default Web Site/"). Next problem was  : Request is not available in this context Stack Trace: [HttpException (0x80004005): Request is not available in this context] System.Web.HttpContext.get_Request() +3465893 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.Global.get_ConfigurationManager() +47 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.GlobalApp.Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e) +32  This error was caused by the fact that Report Server and Report Manager were configured to DefaultAppPool in the Reporting Service Configuration Manager. I have switched to Classic .Net AppPool  for both Report Server and Report Manager and it has fixed the problem. Now my problem is that the Report Manager Application ( http://localhost/reports/folders.aspx ) shows no tab, toolbar or folder. What I now have on the Report Manage Application page is the header with the title and [home] and [Help] button links on the top right corner. I have made a report to test the problem but no folder shows o

I cannot open application page which i created with Intranet and Internet.

Copy list from mysite to portal web application with Created by and Modified by columns

I have a list in mysite, which I need to move to portals web application. Only way I know is to save list as template and copy the stp file to another site collection. However issue with this approach is values of system columns "Created by" and "Modified by" does not get copied over.

Is there a way to copy values of these columns?

Creating and configuring a Web Application with pre-created content database

I recently looked at the very interesting Technet article named "Deploy by using DBA-created databases (SharePoint 2010)"; I've noticed something strange in the following section:

To create and configure the portal site Web application

  1. [DBA] Create the portal site Web application content database using the LATIN1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS collation sequence and set the database owner (dbo) to be the Setup user account.

  2. [DBA] Using SQL ServerManagement Studio, add the service application service account to the Users group and then to the db_owner role for the portal site Web application content database.

  3. [Setup] From the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell, use the New-SPWebApplication and Get-SPWebApplication cmdlets to configure the portal site Web application content database. Use the following example as a guide.

New-SPWebApplication -Name "Contoso Internet Site" -Port 80 -HostHeader "http://sharepoint.contoso.com" -URL "https://www.contoso.com" -ApplicationPool "ContosoAppPool&q

Web part created in VS 2005 crashing the whole web application

I created a web part using C# and VS 2005. The web part contains a button, and in the onclick event of the button, I am trying to send e-mail. This is the functionality, I am trying.

I builded the application, added the dll into the web application bin folder, registered the dll in the GAC and added the dll name as safecontrol in the web.config.

In the Page, I am able to add the web part. I am able to see the button. When i clicked on the button, the whole application is getting errored out and am getting Service Unavailable error.

Even after re-starting the IIS, I am getting the Service Unavailable error. In the eventvwr I found the below 2 error:

    1) Category: Web part - Error: RuntimeFilter: Failed to load all runtime filter configurations or the runtime filter component. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

    2) Category: Email - Cannot connect to SMTP host

    How to rectify this?

Also, when i cliked on the button, I was getting prompt for entering the username and password 3 times. I entered all the time.(My username has full control on the site). This at times led to Page cannot be displayed error.

    Thank you

Forefront Identity Manager errors when starting the User Profile Synchronization Service Application

I have seen several people who are having trouble getting the User Profile Synchronization Service to start.  None of those threads have the set of errors that I am seeing.  I have all the prerequisites installed and I am using the farm administrator account which has admin rights both on the SP server and the SQL box.  This is a split back-to-back extranet topology and there is a one way trust between the extranet domain and the internal domain.  The administrator account is an internal domain account.  I receive the following two Forefront errors every five seconds in the event log after starting the User Profile Synchronization Service Application:

Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) Loop

discovered an interesting error recently while working with Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) that, surprisingly, had received no ink. Partly what surprises me about this is that the error may require you to rewrite large sections of your code if you haven't previously considered this SharePoint limitation. I'll start with some context, but first of all the error is:

Integrating a Legacy Web Application in SharePoint

This month we will continue with the theme of deploying Microsoft's SharePoint as a company intranet by describing a method for integrating a legacy Web application inside a SharePoint site.

In many companies the intranet site is not just a home page with announcements. It houses Web applications used by many different departments. In last month's article, I built a page to search the employee table in Northwind (the sample database included in Microsoft's SQL Server). This month, I will move the Web pages used to add/remove records from the table into the SharePoint intranet.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.
