Dead links

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi guys!
I'm having problem with WSS 3.0(without MOSS). The links for all the site in the quicklaunch works, but for SOME of the links in the All Site Content page [http://server/mainsite/_layouts/viewlists.aspx?ShowSites=1] doesn't. This also happens when clicking the link up in the title page if you're in the subsite [http://server/mainsite/subsite05], both links gives a HTTP 500 Internal Error page when clicked. I've tried deleting and re-creating the link in the mainsite's quicklaunch I also tried to reset specific page to site definition version or reset all pages in this site to site definition version in the subsite05, nothing works.

Hope somebody have tried troubleshooting this problem.

I need help with imagebutton links

I have imagebuttons as links and i added the attributes for mousedown, up and out. That works fine.  I cant seem to figure out how that the imagebutton itself, when pushed, stays down and returns to normal when the user clicks another link....

what I was thinking of doing is calling a method on the onclick event of the button and letting it check whether there is another button pushed down then to send the found link button to its orginal state.

I figured doing the call and checking of the buttons would be long winded with the method, so there must be an easier way to do this ?

How to save records with autogenerated html links in Sql database?

Hi I would like to create a database where users can search for multiple fields. For example: if the record is personal details info like name, address, phone number and email id i would like to generate link for this automatically with the fields using stored procedure.. Is that possible.? If so can anybody provide me with the line of code or guideline on how to do that?

Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Unable to move Wiki pages with Bracketed ([[, ]]) Links

I'm using Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (pre-SP1) to host a Wiki, and it's been a learning process as I've been going along.  In this process, I keep finding better places to keep Wiki Pages and Wiki Libraries, so I move things around to find the best fit.  I've run into a strange problem while moving my collection of ~100 Wiki pages, and I'm curious to see if others have it to.  The problem is, I cannot move or copy Wiki Pages that contain links to other Wiki pages using the bracket method (of writing a link as [[other page]]).

Here's how I reach the problem:

-Create 2 Wiki Pages Libraries,  I called mine Wiki PagesA and Wiki PagesB
-I go into my Wiki PagesA library and create a new Wiki page.
-I call it "linktohome" and enter only a single line in the body, "[[home]]"
-I can open it up and it works just fine and the link redirects me to the Home page in the local Wiki PagesA library so it's all good.
-Next in my main Site Collection that's hosting these libraries, I'll pull down Site Actions and go into Manage Content and Structure.
-I can browse into Wiki PagesA and the linktohome document appears
-But, when I try to copy (or move) linktohome to Wiki PagesB library I get an error that says:

Unable to copy/move wiki pages with links to other wiki pages

When I try to copy or move wiki pages from one 'Wiki library A' to 'Wiki library B' through 'content and structure', I get an error for the pages which contain links to other wiki pages, does sameone has a clue how to fix this:

Hyper-links from Outlook

I looked the other topic and it doesn't answer my problem.

When I receive an email with hyper-links in them they seldom connect and only if the full link is available can I copy & paste it into my browser. Soemtimes there is just a comment with the link behind it and it's impossible to pick up the full link details. A box appears saying that Outlook is blocking this action and I should refer to my administrator.

I am the administrator and have too little knolwedge to know what I would need to do do to create the bock so please help to sort out this annoying and time consuming issue.

Many thanks...

Published site - wrong links

we have published our sharepoint site outside domain.

Unfortunately big problems with links in document library appeared.

The url for outside users is "it.company.cz", the internal url is "sp001:55680".

When I open the page and select Shared Documents, the site is still it.company.cz. But when select any folder in document library the site url changes to sp001:55680.

Strange is that the mouseover url is correct but when I click it, it changes to internal url.

Mouseover url: http://it.compay.cz/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fShared%20Documents%2fProjects&FolderCTID=&View=%7bBEBFF1D2%2d5910%2d4A36%2dB049%2d971F95E752E7%7d

After click url: http://sp001:55680/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fShared%20Documents%2fProjects&FolderCTID=&View=%7bBEBFF1D2%2d5910%2d4A36%2dB049%2d971F95E752E7%7d

Please help.

Blank Managing My Links Page for Just One User

I've got a single user who's not able to manage his links in MOSS 2007. The links I speak of are gotting to via http://<<your:mysite>>/_layouts/myquicklinks.aspx. Other users have no issue.

I read somewhere that this might be caused by the user in question having added an improperly formated link. My issue is how can I check for that condition and correct it? Any thoughst would be much appreciated.

Trying to move FK links from list as columns to my navigation area.

I'm using vs2010, EF. I have a left column simular to a navigation area and I'm trying to figure out a way to display the FK links that appear at the end of a list as columns, in my navigation area.  One thought was to place a duplicate table in the navigation area and hide all the columns except for the FK links. Is there an easier way to accomplish this.

Thanks, Jeff

Disable links based on membership

I've somehow managed to successfully get Membership working on a test site I'm playing with (learning!). I've reached a point where I can redirect users to another page if they do not have the required level of membership - using the allow feature in a web.config within a folder.

What I would like to do now is create a main menu of links (a back office menu visible after the use has logged in), and disable a link if they do not have access to view that page. Is this complex? I'd be grateful for any sample code to get me started.

Many thanks

Dead SQL server

Hi folks An SQL server at work is pretty much dead but I can still access the location where the mdb and ldf files are, so I'm making a copy of them quickly before the server dies completely.  I was wondering what I can do with them though once I have copied with them.  If I build a new SQL server, then can I import these files somehow?  Thanks!

Problems using links in Visual Studio development

I've recently inherited a website which has two versions, one which runs on IIS and one which runs in the Visual Studio development environment, and there are a few differences in the way the website runs on the two of them which I'm confused about. The relevant code files for the IIS server version are kept under wwwroot, and I can open the website in Visual Studio and it works fine. However, there is a local development environment version of the website, which contains a copy of the same folders, and additionally a solution file. However, there are a number of problems with this version of the website, despite the fact the code is the same. Firstly, none of the images specified in the html tags are displayed correctly, even though I have checked that the images are in the project's directory in the location specified by the image's src attribute, just like they are in the IIS server version. The other problem is that none of the links work. I've noticed that for both the IIS server version of the website and the fileserver version, when the website first loads it calls Application_BeginRequest() in Global.asax.However, when the links are subsequently clicked, it only calls Application_BeginRequest() in the IIS server version -the fileserver version does not call this and just gives a 404 page not found error.I'm new to web development, so I'm not sur
