WSS 3.0 - Access to individual items

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi

We are using Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and have set up a list for leave applications. We have an approval workflow in place and everything seems to be functioning correctly. My manager has now requested that we set up security so that people can only read the leave applications that they post and one or two additional users leave applications.

Due to sensitivity of leave, users should only their leave applications and one or two additional people whose leave that they would approve. Is anyone aware of a way to set this up?

Thanks very much
Tony

External List - Access Selected Items

Hello, The situation;- An external list in SP 2010 from SQL A custom ribbon/button that calls via JS a Dialog box(Application page) and passes the selected items IDs Some code behind to process items after confirmation from user. Question is how to access the selected items in the code behind. As far as I can tell the JS 'getselecteditems' only returns the list ID, which in the case of a standard list is fine, but with an External list returns something like '_B00234' - how do I use this or how to return a more meaningfull ID? (I would rather work in my confort zone VB/C# than JS to process items) casey

Enabling individual items inside disabled listviewitems

I'm struggling with the following and would appreciate some help:

I have a number of items in a listview, some of which may be in a readonly state. When in readonly state, the items are disabled. However, I need the user to be able to remove them by clicking a button which is displayed using a celltemplate on a gridviewcolumn. By default this is disabled by default and setting IsEnabled="true" on the item itself does not enable it regardless of the state of the container.

I'd also like the user to be able to select the item to remove it in a multiselect mode. However selection is also disabled by default. What is the best way to achieve both ways of removing the item?

The item is disabled inside a user control using the following:

ListBoxItem listBoxItem = (Item is int) ? GetListBoxItemFromIndex((int)Item) : GetListBoxItemFromItem(Item);
if (listBoxItem != null)
{
 listBoxItem.IsEnabled = Enable;
}

The button is defined in XAML as follows. It is a

How to Access List view webpart selected items

I'm displaying a list view in list view web part on web part page.

I want a solution to get selected items from the list view web part.

As I am displaying these results on web part page, i don’t have access to ribbon to add any custom buttons.

Any client side or server side code solution should be fine.

Thanks in advance.

I tried this code but it's returns null values

var ctx = SP.ClientContext.get_current();
              var items = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedItems(ctx);
              var myItems = '';
              var k;

Style changes to individual quick launch items

I have a quick launch bar on the left with headers that do NOT have URL's and subitems under those headers that are styled differently and that do have URL's (this is all out of the box, and works fine).  My issue is that I have one quick launch item that is a header and that does have a URL associated with it and although the hover style of this item is different than the other link-less headers, I would like to make this one header look different than the others to make it apparent that it's a link without having to hover over it.  Is it possible to do per-item style changes on the quick launch bar or something equivalent?  Thanks

Edit GridView Individual Cells in ASP.NET

The ASP.NET GridView allows for a row of data to be edited by setting the EditIndex property of the GridView, placing the entire row in edit mode.

You may not want the entire row in edit mode if you are using DropDownList controls for several columns in the EditItemTemplate. If each DropDownList has many options then loading them all at once may result in a sluggish page. Also, if your data structure is more like a 2 dimensional array rather than a set of rows, you may want to edit each cell individually.

Here I will demonstrate how to achieve this and also how to deal with event validation without disabling it.

jQuery: Styling DropDownList Alternating Items (Rows)

In the following example, I will show how you can style any asp:dropdownlist very easily.

The example demonstrates how you can change alternating row items background color, using the fadeTo() to add a nice touch in the dropdownlist. You can change alt rows with a couple lines.

Hide a repeater in ASP.NET C# if the DataSource contains no items?

I have an ASP.NET page that uses a repeater nested within another repeater to generate a listing of data. It's to the effect of the following:
In the (C#) code-behind I'm basically using LINQ to pull a listing of information from an XML document and bind that information to the first repeater.

Searching for the answer to this, it seems the method is to determine whether the data for the nested repeater is empty. If it is, then you set the visibility of the repeater to false.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

Creating SharePoint items with CreateItemActivity

Instead of creating new list items from code in your workflow you can use CreateItemActivity. CreateItemActivity can be used for creating list items or files. Properties of interest for this activity are the following (most of them are self-explanatory):

Creating Sites/Lists/List Items under Current User Context in SharePoint By Using SPUserToken

Usually we do this by performing the action under RunWithElevatedPrivileges method and updating the listitem using SPListItem.SystemUpdate() method (see here). but this approach has its own flaws like (RunWithElevatedPrivileges will run under system account, we cannot use SystemUpdate for SPSite,SPWeb,SPList, since it runs under system we will "CreatedBy" by as SystemAccount).

HttpContext.Items and Server.Transfer/Execute

The problem was basically that when a Server.Transfer call was applied the script container (and also various ClientScriptProxy script embedding routines) would potentially fail to load up the specified scripts.

Store and Display Images from MS Access Database Using C#

There is only the difference of coding syntax to stream the binary data of image content type to upload it into MS Access Database using C#/VB in ASP.Net 2.0

Namespaces required:-

OleDb is used to connect the web site forms with MS Access Database using Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0

ASP.Net Upload Image to MS Access Database

As you learnt from the previous articles to upload image to the SQL Database in ASP.Net 2.0 and stream that image into the memory to retrieve it from the database and display it on the web page. In this article you will learn how to upload images to the MS Access database in ASP.Net 2.0

First of all create an Access Database and place it in the App_Data folder of ASP.Net web site project. Then create a table "tblImg" with the following fields:

Get pixel format, raw format, property id list and property items image in VB.net - C#.net.

n this simple article you will learn that how we can get pixel format, raw format, property id list and property items image in VB and C#.net.

Get Pixel Format:

Image consists of pixels to get the format of the pixel we have a property named pixel format. This property returns an enumeration of pixel format. This enumeration tells the pixel format.

To demonstrate make a window application. Drag one button and a picture box on form.

Now write the following code on Button click event:
