Is this article true?   Is there no way to search the content of OneNote notebooks in a 64bit version of SharePoint 2007 on a 64bit Windows Server OS?

Many thanks!

Code Name WinFS: Revolutionary File Storage System Lets Users Search and Manage Files Based on Conte

One of the monumental problems organizations face today is aggregating information that's stored in disparate formats. Knowledge workers have long wanted to be able to search for content independent of format. The next version of the Windows operating system, code-named "Longhorn," boasts a new storage subsystem that makes that task easier. That subsystem, code-named "WinFS," allows the user to perform searches based on the metadata of the stored item, regardless of what type of file it is or which application created it. This article covers the basic architecture of WinFS and explains how to use the WinFS managed API.

RBS Maintainer not cleanup files in file system (SharePoint 2010)

Here's my environment:   Server #1: SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, RBS enabled Server #2: SharePoint Foundation 2010, RBS installed I setup RBS according to this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee663474.aspx successfully. And I can see the files are storing in NTFS file system instead of database. And then I'm configuring RBS Maintainer according to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff943566.aspx . But it doesn't seem working as expected. I deleted the file from SharePoint Document Library and emptied recycle bin, even in site collection recycle bin. And even I delete the whole site collection. The RBS Maintainer doesn't delete the files in file system. I've updated the following rbs config on my content database for test: exec mssqlrbs.rbs_sp_set_config_value 'garbage_collection_time_window', 'time 00:00:00'; exec mssqlrbs.rbs_sp_set_config_value 'delete_scan_period ', 'time 00:00:00'; exec mssqlrbs.rbs_sp_set_config_value 'orphan_scan_period', 'time 00:00:00'; Maintainer output after I deleted the file, emptied end user recycle bin and site collection recycle bin : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Remote Blob Storage 10.50\Maintainer>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Remote Blob Storage 10.50\Maintainer\Microsoft.Data.SqlRemot eBlobs.Maintainer.exe" -Connect

System.Drawing.Image.FromFile crashes for tiff files on 64bit system

The following pice of code runs fine on my development machine (win7, 32bit) but ends with Exception on the server (Win2008R2, 64bit).

        static void Main(string[] args)

            Image image = Image.FromFile(args[0]);

The exception will be thrown for TIFF files (from other sources) but ie not for PNG files.

I was wondering why the test program above works fine on my Win 32bit machine with .NET 4 but not on my 64bit machine with .NET 4.

Any help appreciated.

SSRS 2008 ERROR - rsProcessingAborted:System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Mu

I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 Ent. Edition 64 bit reporting services. The source data for report is at remote server and it is SQL Server 2005 Ent. Edition (though I don't think this matters here.) I have set the <WorkingSetMaximum> to 5GB for SSRS

I am testing the performance of report server and running a report with 100K records with 20 concurrent users. All 20 reports gets executed successfully. When I try with 25 or 30 users only 21 reports execute successfully when I see the ExecutionLog table. I see this exception in the report service log file. Please help.

Errors when I try to move the Index files

I tried to change the location of the search index files in Central Admin.  The current setting is the default:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications

I want to just put it on E:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Data\Office Server\Applications - so all I changed was the drive letter.

It churned for awhile then listed this error:

Errors were encountered during the configuration of the Search Service Application.

Any source for extracting files from file system ?

Hi Everyone,

I had a package which was using Sharepoint List Source a third party component to pull the files from sharepoint datasource. Then i had some scipt tasks to pull files with specified regular expression.

I want to  now update the package with a change of pulling files from File system instead of sharepoint. Can anyone suggest me with ideas or third party component i can use ?

I thought of using FileSystem Task - where i can copy files from my A folder to B(local) folder , but facing some issues - how to pull files with regular exp matching ?

Please Please help and suggest with ideas

System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> Index was ou

Dear All,

I am using a client program(c#) which calls the web service.

I want to know that  whether i am getting this error at the time of calling web service or while accessing web service and why.

System.UnauthorizedAccessException when enumerating files in directory

as the title says, I've been getting a System.UnauthorizedAccessException when enumerating the files in a directory. The exact line that throws the error is:

string[] files = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(path, "*.htm*");

My first thought was that I had insufficient NTFS privileges on the directory, but the error kept occuring even when I granted Full Access to Everyone. Running the program as Administrator (Win 7) produced the same result. Googling didn't give me any other ideas either. Anyone have a clue what the problem could be? Thanks.

StringBuilder.ToString() Throws a System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException Index was out of range

I have the following code to show a logging window that has the last 64000 chars of code. Every new line I add the first line will be deleted:

m_sbText = new StringBuilder(65000);

private void AddLine(string LogMessage)
   if (m_sbText.Length > 64000)
      m_sbText.Remove(0, m_sbText.ToString().IndexOf("\n") + 1);
   textBoxLog.Text = m_sbText.ToString();

When I let this run the first time I got an OutOfMemory exception because I forgot to add

textBoxLog.UndoLimit = 0;

So this UndoLimit problem is still happening in WPF dot net framework 4.

I added the UndoLimit and let this run for a night. Once every few hours the textBoxLog.Text = m_sbText.ToString(); line raises a System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException Index was out of range exception on StringBuilder.ToString(). Because I do not do anything with the Index I suspect the StringBuilder to mess up internal indexes.

Directory.GetFiles throws System.IO.IOException: There are no more files

We are having problems with the Directory.GetFiles method in our production environment.  We have a console application that is started every 5 minutes 24/7 and it runs fine, but once in a while we get the following exception:

System.IO.IOException: There are no more files.

  at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
  at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption)
  at System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption)
The exception occurs on the folowing line:

string fileMask = "*.xml";
filenames = Directory.GetFiles(dataFolder, fileMask);

The documentation of that function clearly states that if no files are found, the function returns an empty array, and it does so in 99,999% of the cases.

Some background information:

The program runs and reads on the local D drive of a virtual W2K3 clustered machine.  That D drive is swapped between cluster members during failover, but at the time of the exception no failover is taking place.

File Stream Folders / Files still in file system

Hi All,

I have dropped and re-created a table that contains filestream columns.  When I have done this I see that the original folders / files still exist out on the file system.  How is it that these will get removed since the orignal table(s) have been dropped and re-created?

Looks like the folders are always two levels deep.  What does each represent? I can see the actual files, but what do the parent / child folders represent?

I also see the F$log folder.

Foreach Loop Container & File System Task to copy files from target server to source server

A one-off shot at using, SSIS, I appear to be missing something.

From what I have read here, the Foreach Loop Container in which a File System Task has been placed is how one copies files contained in a source server folder to a folder on a target server.  I have defined Source and Destination pkg variables using UNC \\servername\aharedfolder and a FileName variable that is empty.  My impression is that this is suppose to iterate through and copies all files in the source folder to the target.  I only get the first file copied.

In the FLC Collection section  I am using the Foreach File Enumerator under which I have the Folder as \\servername\sharedfolder and files as *.* .  I am not using Expressions.  The Variables Mapping reference my FileName variable.

In the FST, I both path variables set to True and reference the destination and source variables described above.  Operation is Copy File.

I appears that I need to pass a list of the source folder file names to the FileName variable, rather than some built-in logic grabbing a files in the source folder.  Is a passed filename list what I am missing?

Infopath System.OutOfMemory Exception when try to upload larger files

I am getting “System.outOfMemory” exception when we are trying to upload 40 MB file into InfoPath Browser Form. I have already tried following methods but of no use. Any recommendation to fix the issue??

1.       Have increased upload limits for Web Application level

2.       Have increased Connection time out in IIS

Clean Web.Config Files (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

.NET 4 includes a new version of the CLR, and a new .NET 4 specific machine.config file (which is installed side-by-side with the one used by .NET 2, .NET 3 and .NET 3.5).

The new .NET 4 machine.config file now automatically registers all of the ASP.NET tag sections, handlers and modules that we've added over the years, including the functionality for:

.ASP.NET Dynamic Data
.ASP.NET Routing (which can now be used for both ASP.NET WebForms and ASP.NET MVC)
.ASP.NET Chart Control (which now ships built-into ASP.NET V4)
What this means is that when you create a new "Empty ASP.NET application" project in VS 2010, you'll find that the new default application-level web.config file is now clean and simple:

System Development Life Cycle

The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a conceptual model used in project management that describes the stages involved in an information system development project from an initial feasibility study through maintenance of the completed application. Various SDLC methodologies have been developed to guide the processes involved including the waterfall model (the original SDLC method), rapid application development (RAD), joint application development (JAD), the fountain model and the spiral model. Mostly, several models are combined into some sort of hybrid methodology
