Changing select parameters.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 15, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

It seems like this would be fairly straight forward.  I've got a gridview that loads up using one stored proc, but I've got a searchbox to filter the grid, and when the user enters some criteria I want to use a different proc to return the results.  Something tells me I should be doing this with one procedure, but I can't seem to make that work either.

When the form loads, my grid is populated.  And if I leave my search criteria blank and search anyway, my grid is still populated correctly.  But if I enter search creteria, I get diddley squat.  What gives?

Here is the relevent snippets.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlSearch" runat="server" DefaultButton="btnSearch">
    Search:<asp:TextBox ID="txtSearch" runat="server" />
    <asp:Button ID="btnSearch" runat="server" Text="Go" Click="btnSearch_Click" />

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sdsCustomers" runat="server"
        ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionString %>"
        ProviderName="<%$ Connectionstrings:ConnectionString.Providername %>"

Multivalue parameters - Changing label if (Select All) is selected

I'm using SSRS 2005.  I have a report which has a multi value parameter.  When you click (Select All) the text in the parameter combobox shows all the names of the possible values.  Since this is my default it really looks tacky and hard to read. Is there a way I can have the text in the multi value parameter combobox say "ALL" or something else when (Select All) is checked?

Problem with SELECT COUNT query and parameters

Hello!I have a problem with SELECT COUNT query in ASP.net. I want to create CMS with articles which have categories (which have the option to be deleted). The problem is that I want to get the number of articles within the specified category so if there aren't any articles with the specified category I can proceed with the category deletion.I have the following code:protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected void GridViewKategorije_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { if (e.CommandName == "Uredi") { int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); GridViewRow odabraniRed = GridViewKategorije.Rows[index]; TableCell ClanakID = odabraniRed.Cells[2]; string ID = ClanakID.Text; Response.Redirect("/Portal/Administracija/Kategorija.aspx?idKategorija=" + ID); } else if (e.CommandName == "Obrisi") { int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); GridViewRow odabraniRed = GridViewKategorije.Rows[index]; TableCell KategorijaID = odabraniRed.Cells[2]; String connString = WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CMS"].ToString(); SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(connString); conn.Open(); using (SqlC

Linked Reports - Multi-Select Parameters

I have searched for this but have not found any answers, or similar questions even. I have a report with several multi-select parameters. These parameters are populated by datasets that use stored procedures. When I go to "Properties" and "Parameters" of the linked reports, they do not populate the drop-down menu for the parameter, the parameter is simply blank and has an area for me to manually type in data. Is there any way to force these parameters to populate with a selectable list of options? Like would occur when running the report from the front-end interface, or setting up a subscription.

SSRS cascading parameters always select all

I have 4 paramters that are cascading(the last parameter depends on the one before that and that one depends on the one beofore that etc.) The are all multivalue with a select all option.

When I click 2 options in my first parameter all values in the list below that get checked. This is good. Now when I click an extra value in my first parameter in the parameter under this the new values show up but they do not get selected. Is there a way to always select all in all parameter lists?

How to add Select Control parameters in Code Behind

I have a need to add my page controls dynamically in code behind.

I do well, adding a dropdownlist, a SQL datasource to populate it, setting it to autopostback=true, and adding a gridview and its SQL datasource.

What I'm unsure about is how to programmatically refer to the SelectParameter, being a control (the DropDownList), and its selected item.

any ideas?

Select all parameters and include them in a subreport - How do I select all parameters?

Hi all,

I have learned from http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/sqlreportingservices/thread/8EB22B50-B752-46F1-9574-53A3FBED4FA1 that I can show the selected parameters in a report.

This is great, but I am thinking about to develop a more structural solution. My goal is at every report a seperate page which shows the selected reports. So, I would like to include a subreport in every report which automatically selects all parameters and their filled in values.

Now my question: How do I select all parameters?

Thank you in advance,

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

Linq: how to share parameters between lambda expressions ?

When using Linq to objects, you will quickly feel the need to pass some parameters from a method to another but it's not so easy because each Linq method is not calling the following one. In a Linq sequence, each method is using the result computed by the previous one. So, local contexts are not visible from one method to another.
The compiler is using two technical different ways to let parameters go out of a method.

AJAX GridView Checkbox Select All in ASP.Net

In the previous article GridView Select Multiple Rows you learnt the multiple row selection in GridView control. Here you will get the C# code sample to select all the gridview rows using single checkbox server control. You can highlight the selected rows with different color and Font state Bold. If you want to use the selection values on different ASP.Net

Convert English to Arabic number without changing any regional settings in .net

Well, most applications that I worked with was multilingual that supports English UI and Arabic UI.

And one of the major issue that we have faced is displaying Arabic numbers without the need of changing the regional settings of the PC.

So the code below will help you to display Arabic number without changing any regional settings.

view state vs request parameters

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

Select value in gridview

Hi, I am new to gridview. I want to make a gridview. Its row when selected should direct me to a specific .aspx page.Each row should direct to a different page. Should I use querystrings for this? Please suggest. Regards, ap.

FormView -- Parameters and asp:Table

I've already solved this problem to my satisfaction, I just want to know WHY it works this way.

I have a FormView control bound to an ObjectDataSource.  Let's say our data source is a hypothetical table with three columns:  id, name, age.  Why is it that when I use the <asp:Table> element inside of the FormView, the parameter values are not set, but when I use the standard <table> tag, it works fine?

This seems like a .NET problem to me.  I expect the <asp:Table> element to work in the same way as <table> because they are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.  Am I missing something?

linqdatasource parameters question

I'm currently getting to know the linqdatasource control. What would happen if several WHERE parameters are added to the linqdatasource control declaritively in the aspx page but no WHERE clause is defined?

1. is there any issue with setting up multiple WHERE parameters in the aspx markup for linqdatasource but then deciding which ones actually get used at runtime by setting the actual WHERE clause at run time? Would the unused parameters simply be ignored and cause no issues?

2. when you need to modify WHERE clause or WHERE parameters at runtime do you need to do so in an event handler? such as linqdatasource.selecting?
I see from the above link it is possible, but is that the standard way to handle controlling filtering in code behind for linqdatasource?

2b. if you use an event such as linqdatasource.selecting to add where parameters and/or modify the where clause in code will that also break the builtin sorting and paging support of the linqdatasource with a gridview?

Problem with changing language using culture info

I'm using the following msdn article to use different languages in my web application:

I'm following the instructions step by step in VS 2010, and it creates the resource files exactly how it's supposed to.

However, when I run the program it just doesn't apply it. I don't see the different values from the resource file.

If I leave my resource file name as sample.aspx.resx, it works. But when I change it to sample.aspx.en-us.resx, it doesn't work. I'm supplying culture from the aspx page's Culter and UICulture properties. I'm being very careful in choosing the correct file name, as that could be the issue,  but it just doesn't work. I also tried changing the culture in the backend code this way:
