How do I get an answer?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I've posted a few questions in this forum category that have been here for some time, but I'm not getting any answers, or replies at all.  What's going on?  Am I posting in the wrong forums?  I see there have been lots of views to my questions, but no replies.  If this isn't the best place to go to get help, can someone tell me the best place to go for help with my questions about SharePoint development?  My problem is a big issue at my company.  Search on "SixSigmaGuy" to see my posts.

Security Question Answer Retrieval

I know there is a method built in for retrieving the encrypted password, but how do I retrieve the encrypted security answer?

What I want to do is have a member profile update screen that the end user can update their password and security question and answer. However, when they get to this page, I want to already be showing the security question (the easy part) and its answer (the not so easy part).

I have updated web.config with passwordFormat=Encrypted and have added a machineKey with the generator (forgot the link, but located on eggheadcafe somewhere).

I haven't done ANYTHING yet, since I already have a user store with hashed information. I wanted to get some functionality done before publishing, wiping the store and recreating users (only a couple developers).

SQL User Permission (No answer found by searching)

Hello all!   I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my simple question!   Previously, I've run the below script to give one user access to their db in SQL management studio but nothing else. use [someDB] -- use the real db name go sp_changedbowner 'theUser' -- use the new username go 4. Next, deny the new user "public" access to ALL databases: use master go deny VIEW any DATABASE to theUser go   However I now need to add an additional user with view on permissions to the database and can't figure out how to do it. I'm sure it's simple but my SQL knowledge is at a low level.   Many thanks, Lee.

Script components on 64bit environments - Is there a clear answer for that?

Hello all,  I'm having an issue with a package that contains a script component. The package was originally designed in SSIS 2005, was migrated to 2008 and not to a 2008 64 bit machine. We're able to run the package in VS/32 bit mode, but it fails when we deploy the package. I was able to find a few articles out there, but not clear answer for this issue. Is it possible to run packages with scripts in 64 bit machines? The script is pretty simple, it only reads configuration from the machine.config file. Below is the error message I'm getting:     Executed as user: CITRITE\svcacct_qasqlapps. Is SQL Server Express the answer?

I really wasn't sure where to put this, and this seemed like a decent enough place. I'm sure like a lot of other small businesses we are in the process of moving from Visual Studio 6 and Office 2000 up to Visual Studio 2010 and Office 2010.  All of our applications are run inhouse so distribution isn't a issue here as everything is "local".  We are now running into the question of do we really need to use and spend money on Access.  I'm going to say that 98% of our applications that use access are just using it as a database and not using Access (i.e. using C++, C# or VB as the front end).  Now that SQL Server Express Edition is around would that be a better alternative for what we are doing?  We do run SQL Server 2000 (moving to 2008) for our "bigger" needs but our DBA would rather keep the smaller things away from it (his choice and there is no changing his mind).  We currently run 4 servers and would be able to put SQL Server Express on one of the other servers.  Would this be something that would work, are there user limits I'm not aware of?  Looking for input on this.  Thanks everyone in advance!

Why do these forums have to show every answer twice?

It's a stupid idea and annoying.

Get correct checked answer

Hi. :)

I am still studying to become a webintegrator and this is my private project to try and learn C# better. This might be a little complicated so please just ask if you feel like it does'nt make sense.

I have a database with a table called Answers which holds AnswerID, Answer1, Answer2, Answer3 and CorrectAnswer + a table called Questions which holds QuestionID, QuestionNumber and QuestionText.

On a page i have a repeater that pulls the questions from the database and inside it i have another repeater with my 3 radiobuttons that pulls the 3 Answers from the database and are grouped so you can only check 1 of the radiobuttons as the user. See below:

                 <asp:Repeater ID="rptQuestions" runat="server">

Count gives me the same answer regardless of the number of rows

I always get a result of zero from the following code sequence even as the row count changes and I just do not see what the error in my syntax is.

supercount As Integer

supercount = 0

Dim sqlkit As String

sqlkit =

Can somebody answer this multiple choice question regarding exceptions ?

You are creating a class library that will be used by several applications. You need to create a custom exception that will be thrown if an application attempts to retrieve product information using an invalid product number.

You need to create the ProductNotFoundException class. From which class should you derive ProductNotFoundException?

A: ApplicationException

B: SystemException

C: Exception

D: ArgumentException

Update Active Directory attributes - Security Answer and Password - Console Application

I need to update active directory properties(attributes) through console application like Title,mail,sn,passwordQuestion,passwordAnswer.

However, I want to make the answer by selecting two answers.

There is one parameter linked with backend database. Is it possible to make a conditions like this?

Need help creating an admin tool to reset password without question/answer

I'm dealing with a scenario where a legitimate user doesn't have a clue about his password, secret question or the answer. So, I was trying to create an admin tool that would help me in situations like these where the admin should be able to type in username and reset the password without having to know/enter answer to secret question. I understand that I need to make some changes to the web.config for this to work. I thought I made all the changes but my ResetPassword() requests are still not working.

Here's my web.config settings for the provider.

<membership defaultProvider="AspNetMembershipProvider">
      <add connectionStringName="MyConnectionString"
