Publishing Site - Task update was not accepted error

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

In a Publishing Site, I am trying to create a Site (Site Actions -> Create Site).  While Approving the newly created Site, I get a Error Page which says "Task update was not accepted".  I don't see any additional information in the logs?

I am using SharePoint 2007 Enterprise.  Anyone faced this problem? Please advice.

Thanks & Regards,

Error creating site template for publishing site

I am trying to create site template for publishing site in SharePoint 2010.

I have a publishing site and have created site template for the same using _layouts/savetmpl.aspx.

But when I tried to create site from that template in the same site collection it throws error, actually it creates the site but not able to set the home page as /pages/default.aspx. If I edit the url as http://<new site created>/pages/default.aspx the site is working fine.

The onet.aml for the site template is:

<Project Title="AsTestPckSiteTemplate" Revision="0" UIVersion="4" SiteLogoUrl="" SiteLogoDescription="" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">

<!--<NavBar Name="SharePoint Top Navbar" Url="/poc/infonet/Depts/AsTestNewSite" ID="1002" />-->

    <NavBar Name="SharePoint Top Navbar" ID="1002" />

"Type ASP.x is not defined" error for dynamic user control when publishing updateable

I have a user control (ContainerCtrl) which programmatically instantiates another user control (SimpleCtrl) in OnLoad. It builds and runs fine, but when I publish it I get the error "error BC30002: Type 'ASP.SimpleCtrl' is not defined." (If I publish without the "updateable" option there's no error, but I need the site to be updateable.)

I assume this has to do with the particulars of how the assembly(ies) are built for the different compiler options. My question is, how can I get it to work properly for "updateable" publishing?

VS 2008 / .NET 3.5 sp1

The code follows (web.config is the default from Visual Studio).

Many thanks, Dave

<%@ Control Language="VB" ClassName="SimpleCtrl" CodeFile="SimpleCtrl.ascx.vb" Inherits="_SimpleCtrl" %>

    Simple control

Partial Class _SimpleCtrl
    Inherits UserControl

    'Nothing to see here.

End Class

<%@ Control Language="VB" CodeFile="ContainerCtrl.ascx.vb" Inherits="_ContainerCtrl"

Convert .docx to web page - "the converter cannot complete the task because an internal error occurr

I'm trying to convert docx files to webpages to be published in to a library elsewhere on our sharepoint site. At first I was having no problem, the files were converting, however more recent files have returned the error: the converter cannot complete the task because an internal error occurred

I've tried writing, uploading and converting a simple docx file, and this works which has led me to believe that the problem is something in the docx files that i'm trying to convert. So i tried using word07 to clean the documents up by clicking Office button>prepare>inspect document then removing all the metadata, custom xml etc from the files resave, upload and convert, but still no joy.

I'd simply rewrite the document but the problem is that there are a lot of them.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

Is there a way to update the template of a site?

I am looking for a best practice for managing and applying site design changes.

For instance, in another platform, I could release a site for testing or production use, so content would be added.  At some later date, a change* to the design would be needed and I would take a copy of the design only, make the change and then apply the updated design to the existing site. Content would be maintained but the new design changes would be applied.

      *A change might mean creating new functionality on an existing element, adding new elements or changing an existing element.

How best should this be done in WSS?

Thank you in advance!

Error adding a document library to a site

I am receiving the error "Cannot complete this action.  Please try again"  when trying to add a document library to one of the sites.  This is Sharepoint 2007 SP1.  I seem to be able to do it thru designer but not the web interface.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Publishing SharePoint Site

I have published a sharepoint website that I created but I now have the following problem:

  • from the internal network, everything works fine..
  • from the external network (via web):

  1. the People Picker web part does not work (error in WebForm_DoCallBack)
  2. The "assigned to" field is empty, but when I see the source code, the users are there. They are just not displayed.
Can anyone help me. Thanks in advance..

Update workflow task

Hello guys,

I created a timer job service to send reminders when a task is overdue, now I am looking at how visible it is for reassigning the task to some one else within the timer job service itself.

Is this possible?

XML Task error message hexadecimal invalid character

I am developing a SSIS package to add data from an XML file to an existing SQL Server table.  I have completed several similar projects, but on this XML file I am getting the error from the Data Flow tab between the XML Task and Data Flow Task: Error: 0xC002F304 at XML Task, XML Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "'', hexadecimal value 0x15, is an invalid character. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors. SSIS package "zStu_TS_Element.dtsx" finished: Failure. Do you know how I can fix this? This is the line it is referring to: <z:row c0='12' c1='80' c2='2006-04-17' c3='539' c4='1M2083N4N5N6N75800901110 11 '/>

Execute Process task - On Error (i want to override the error message)

Hi, In my package I am calling one exe to copy the files from local folders to SFTP. I am using a execute process task and I am passing the parameters like (address, username, password,....). The exe and syntax are given below. SFTPCopier.exe <<machinename>> <<username>> <<password> <<local directory path>> The problem is when the exe is failing to copy the files to SFTP due to some reason, the SSIS package is outputting the entire command in the log information (including the username & password). I dont want to write the password in the log information. I want to remove that password from the log information when an error occured in the execute process task. Can some one please tell me the way to override the message? Can I put a on error handler for that execute process task and use a script task to modify the "ErrorDescription" variable? Will that works? Thanks in advance.
