reposted with no help: passing a string parameter to a web method

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a web form (html) and I'm trying to pass a single string as a parameter to my web method, (this should be simple but no one can seem to answer me)

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
        var qs = new Querystring();
        var v1 = qs.get("TorVName");
        //var jsonData = JSON.stringify(v1);
        //var list = v1;
        //var jsonText = JSON.stringify({ list: list });
        $().ready(function() {
                type: "POST",
                url: "Default.aspx/GetColumns?TorVName=" + v1,
                data: {},
                contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",

passing messageContract object to a WCF Service method using Soap - not as a method parameter

i want a web application to create a service reference to my WCF service, insert information to the header of the soap call and call my WCF method. my WCF supports soap operations (also there is an endpoint in the config). i read about MessageContract attribute and declared one in the interface file: [ServiceContract] public interface IBasicService { [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "GetData?value={value}")] // Add support for HTTP GET Requests string GetData(int value); } [MessageContract] public class BasicServiceHeader { [MessageHeader] public string myString; } the implementation of the contract : public class BasicService : IBasicService { public string GetData(int value) { return string.Format("You entered: {0}", value); } } i don't want the BasicServiceHeader to be passed as a parameter of GetData function , i want to keep the function signature as it is (without a BasicServiceHeader parameter) and to extract the BasicServiceHeader inside the function, (just like using soapHeader) can i do that ?

passing values to object properties of action method parameter

I have an action method that accepts a single parm.

That parm is an object with multiple properties. MVC correctly maps values from the querystring
to properties in the parm object by matching property name to querystring value name.
Problem is, properties in the action method parm object which are themselves objects with
properties, are not assigned their matching values from the querystring. The class object has a
constructor which accepts a single string parameter.

How do I assign to properties of an action method parameter which are themselves class objects?

                <%: Html.ActionLink("Edit", "ProductMasterEdit",
                       new { ProdKey=item.ProductKey.Value,
                       ProductKey = item.ProductKey.Value })%>

    public ViewResult ProductMasterEdit(ProductMaster Item)

  public partial class ProductMaster

    public ProductKey ProductKey
      get { return new ProductKey(this.ProdKey); }
      set { this.ProdKey = value.Value; }

Using IN clause(string parameter) in Stored Procedure

Hi guys. I need to use IN clause in a selection query. From all the resources that I found from google, it's all about adding a function to split a integer parameter into a list. But I got a string parameter, for example 'A1,B1,C1' I tried to use the below where single quotes in @CustCode is double up. ___________________________________ Declare @SQL VarChar(1000)   SELECT @SQL = ' SELECT [something]' SELECT @SQL = @SQL + ' FROM [Table]' SELECT @SQL = @SQL + ' WHERE CustomerCode IN ('  + @CustCode + ')'   EXECUTE (@SQL) _____________ Executing the stored procedure in MSSQL works fine, but it didn't when executing from Visual Studio 2005. Please advice.

Performance problem when passing a "nullable parameter"

Say @startDate and @endDate are my datetime parameters. If users does not want to limit the @startDate for example, he/she sends a null value to @startDate. Same goes for @endDate (and any other parameter). What I like doing: Select * From MyTable Where MyTable.Date >= IsNull(@startDate, MyTable.Date) And MyTable.Date <= IsNull(@endDate, MyTable.Date) The above looks nice as far as coding but when I look at the execution plan I'm surprised to see the my clustered index (that has it's first column as "MyTable.Date") is not used. instead I get an index scan. More frustrating is that the following works with an index seek and is much faster: Select * From MyTable Where MyTable.Date >= @startDate And MyTable.Date <= @endDate So what should I do? am I doing something wrong? I don't want to use dynamic sql because it's generally slower and prone to sql injection (is dynamic sql my only choise)? I don't want to use "if statements" because then i'd have to rewrite my code several times (in this case three combinations but some of my procedures have up to 8 "nullable" parameters). Or maybe there is another way of implementing what I call here "nullable parameters". obviously I preformance is crucial. thanks, Dror

problem with passing parameter values to stored proceedure from asp.net c#

hi all, i am facing a problem while passing parameters to a stored proceedure. following is my sql query written for creating this stored procedure:   CREATE proc [dbo].[getstudent]( @wherecolumn nvarchar(2000), @wherevalue nvarchar(2000)) asbegin  declare @sql nvarchar(max) set @sql = 'select * from student2 where ' + @wherecolumn+'='+@wherevalueexec sp_Executesql @sql end   my table contains four columns: And the sql Query For the table is as follows:   CREATE TABLE [dbo].[student2]( [name] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [rollno] [int] NOT NULL, [class] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [section] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_student2] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [rollno] ASC)WITH (IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF) ON [PRIMARY]) ON [PRIMARY]   from page behind I am passing the values to parameter as follows:   SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("getstudent", c.con); SqlDataAdapter datadapter = new SqlDataAdapter(c.cmd); command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.Parameters.Add("@wherecolumn", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = "rollno"; command.Parameters.Add("@wherevalue", Sq

Parameter passing from masterreport to subreport

what If I'm passing a parameter which is null ?? and if the parameter is an integer? My subreport query is : SELECT    ...FROM ... WHERE ... and (CRMAF_FilteredContact.ownerid = @ownerid  OR @ownerid IS NULL) ORDER BY CRMAF_FilteredContact.OwnerIDname When I try it with a null value in the subreport, it works fine, but when I try it from  the main report, so I tried to remove the ownerid parameter, I tried to put it at blank, I tried to put NULL but I've always an error, the report start fine but then, on the total, i've the error "error subreport could not  be shown". I've the error : [rsErrorExecutingSubreport] An error occurred while executing the subreport subreport3: One or more parameters required to run the report have not been specified. But then I don't know how to fixe it.  I put the @ownerid as blank, but obviously it doesn't like it. I've done that because i'm using the same sub report above but grouping with this parameter. How can I manage this ? Thanks a lot,

Passing parameter into Web Service

Hi, I'm creating a web service using C#, and wondering if it is possible to capture the parameter passed in from the URL?e.g. http://www.abc.com/webservice/service.asmx?para1=one&para2=twoIs there a function or something that can obtain the parameters like the normal Request.QueryString? Thanks in advance! Rgds

Duplicate URLs in Source Parameter of Query String for All SharePoint Lists

After performing a database attach method of upgrading our existing web application from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010, all of our lists that migrated now exhibit an interesting but undesirable behavior.  The DispForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx pages that get loaded are given the Source parameter of the query string but instead of the URL being a single entry like: Source=http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx It winds up putting the URL twice like this: Source=http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx,http://sharepointsite.domain.com/Pages/Default.aspx Naturally this makes processing of the form -- either by choosing OK or Cancel buttons -- result in an HTTP 404 error.  The question we're left with is how in the world did the Source parameter get set that way to begin with.   It wasn't that way in 2007. We had thought that perhaps there was something that didn't migrate over correctly for the existing lists, so I tried creating a new list and then added a new item to the list.  So far so good.  Then attempted to Edit Properties or Edit Item or even View Item, etc. -- essentially triggering the load of the EditForm.aspx and DispForm.aspx  -- and we received the 404 again.  At this point we're not sure what's going on or how to fix it.  We've performed the migration three times so far with t

passing parameter using ODBC - mysql
