IIS Crash with Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42

The scenario is that, a .Net Webservice is making calls to C++ DLL (made from VC6 studio) This app works perfectly well for sometimes or over a period or for a high volume of hits and suddenly you see IIS crash along with service crash with the following error "Faulting application w3wp.exe, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42" There is no pattern for this problem. The work around is to restart the IIS.    Can anybody tell me what could be the issue here?

.XBAP site cannot be displayed - Faulting application PresentationHost.exe, version 3.0.6920.1427

Hi all Firstly let me start by saying I am not a developer/.net/xbap or any other type of programmer so please excuse my ignorance to anything related. I have an application installed on a w2k3 std 32bit SP2 server with terminal services and Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. This applicaiton accesses the vendors website over the internet through a .xbap page. When accessing this .xbap approximately half the users get "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage" while the other half have no issue at all. The version of IE is v7.0.5730.13. When IE returns "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage" the following error is logged in the application log: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date:  9/10/2010 Time:  11:28:27 AM User:  N/A Computer: <server> Description: Faulting application PresentationHost.exe, version 3.0.6920.1427, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x0000bee7. VS 2010 Version of Josh Smith's MVVM Demo Application

I tried downloading Josh Smith's MVVM demo yesterday and when I opened it up in VS 2010 I got several errors.  Has any one else encountered this problem?  And is there an updated version available for VS 2010?

Faulting application , version ,faulting module kernel32.dll

Hi, I have one windows application built using C# and .net framework 2.0 and its installed on Windows Server 2003.

I have tested application on my machine and it works perfectly on my machine. Only difference between two machines is that, my machine has Windows Vista OS and machine on which error occured has Windows Server 2003 OS.

When I start application, it works correctly for some time but then gives one error as

Faulting application , version ,faulting module kernel32.dll,version 5.2.3790.4480, stamp , debug? 0. fault address 0x000bef7.

Source : .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Category : None Event ID : 1000

Does anyone knows why this error is coming? I googled for this error but most of the solutions were for either explorer.exe or internet explorer.

Thanks and Regards, Chandrashekhar

Publishing new version of XBAP causes System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentException

Hello all, I'm currently developing a full trust XBAP. I'm hosting the published release version of the XBAP on my Windows Azure storage account.

Recently, when I publish a new release version of the XBAP, some users receive a System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentException when trying to access the new version of the XBAP. The previous version of the XBAP worked on their computers no problem.

I did some research that suggest this exception may be caused if the version number of the XBAP is not incremented upon release. (I double checked, the release number IS automatically incremented). I also read I should use mage -cc to clear the cache before building and publishing. I tried both of these solutions to no avail.

If a user receives this error I can get the XBAP to run on their computer if I manually delete the appdata/Local/Apps/2.0/Data...  folder where the XBAP is cached.

So my question is, how can publishing a new version of the XBAP (with a properly incremented version number) cause the XBAP to stop working on a computer where the previous version ran without error? What could cause the need to delete the appdata/Local/Apps/2.0/Data... folder where the XBAP is stored to fix the problem? And is there any way to ensure that this problem won't happen in the future?

Thanks for your help. The gory exception det

Build error - WPF application manifest and ComCtl32.dll version 6

According to MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb773175(VS.85).aspx) and many other sites, in order to get MessageBox, OpenFileDialog, etc to use controls with visual styles enabled, an application manifest file needs to be used to tell the application to use version 6 of ComCtl32.dll.

In an effort to do this, I've got a WPF application which is set up to use a custom manifest file. However, when I add the requisite snippet to the .manifest file:

Faulting application sqllogship.exe, version 10.0.2766.0, faulting module KERNEL32.dll, version 6.0.

I have a log-shipping "LSBackup" job failed several times with no sensible errors in SQL Server log or in the log-shipping job's history. There are, however some errors in the WIN Application log:

"Faulting application sqllogship.exe, version 10.0.2766.0, time stamp 0x4b8716eb, faulting module KERNEL32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18215, time stamp 0x4995354a, exception code 0xe0434f4d, fault offset 0x000000000002619d, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10."

Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application

I have developed a C-sharp application. But I am not sure how to run it using the .exe file. When I open the application from within Visual Studio 2008 IDE, I can first build the application and then under "debug" menu I select "start debugging". So it starts running. So I am able to run application that way. But if I put my cursor on the \bin\Debug\Application.exe , and do a right mouse click on "run as"  I get the error Unable to find a version of the  runtime to run this application.

I could be getting this error because I have not taken any steps to create a proper executable. I just went to \bin\Debug and found Application.exe and did right mouse click on "run as". Can you tell what steps need to be taken to create a proper executable, other than just "BUILD"

Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) Loop

discovered an interesting error recently while working with Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) that, surprisingly, had received no ink. Partly what surprises me about this is that the error may require you to rewrite large sections of your code if you haven't previously considered this SharePoint limitation. I'll start with some context, but first of all the error is:

Integrating a Legacy Web Application in SharePoint

This month we will continue with the theme of deploying Microsoft's SharePoint as a company intranet by describing a method for integrating a legacy Web application inside a SharePoint site.

In many companies the intranet site is not just a home page with announcements. It houses Web applications used by many different departments. In last month's article, I built a page to search the employee table in Northwind (the sample database included in Microsoft's SQL Server). This month, I will move the Web pages used to add/remove records from the table into the SharePoint intranet.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

High-Performance .NET Application Development & Architecture

It has always been a goal of project architects to plan an effective strategy from the ground up in regards to an new application. All relevant factors are taken into consideration with respect to the application, from its design and layout to a functional website infrastructure. Pre-.NET strategies and design guidelines still effective now were developed with Microsoft's DNA (Distributed interNet Application) platform. This model successfully served the purpose of architecting N(any number of)-Tier (levels) applications. In its basic sense, as in most robust, distributed applications, you'll architect 3 main layers or Tiers: presentation, business rules and data access.

Application architecture in asp .net

Application Architecture is the most important process of developing a good application. Some people tends to jump into coding without any architecture laid. Later we see those people changing the architecture and finally the application had to be developed from the scratch with the correct architecture.

In this article I will describe some details about how you can improve the architecture of you application. This article is targeted to the beginner's audience.
