GridView Paging + Unsupported overload used for query operator 'Distinct'

The issue is two fold in my ASP.NET Web Application. I need to use a custom Distinct() via LINQ to SQL, and then assign thevar as a DataSource to a GridView. If I use the custom Distinct that implements IEqualityComparer, I get "Unsupported overload used for query operator 'Distinct'" exception. but if i somehow get past this, i get "The data source does not support server-side data paging" exception on GridView.DataBind(). here is the code:

var
distinct_employees =
    (from emp in wsq.LIT_Active_Employees
    where (String.IsNullOrEmpty(ssFirstName.Text) ? (emp.FIRST_NAME == null || emp.FIRST_NAME.StartsWith(String.Empty)) : emp.FIRST_NAME.Contains(ssFirstName.Text)) &&
            (String.IsNullOrEmpty(ssLastName.Text) ? (emp.LAST_NAME == null || emp.LAST_NAME.StartsWith(String.Empty)) : emp.LAST_NAME.Contains(ssLastName.Text)) &&a

Binding Gridview using MDX query

Hi, I tried to show results in a gridview using MDX query. In addition, I created a dropdownlist. I was hoping that the content of the gridview would change when I choose different conditions  from the dropdownlist. However, there was an error: "The result set returned by the server is not a rowset."  I did much research on the problem, but I still don't understand. The following is my code: public partial class Default3 : System.Web.UI.Page { StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string conString = "Datasource=localhost;Initial Catalog=PIsystem"; AdomdConnection con = new AdomdConnection(); con.ConnectionString = conString; con.Open(); AdomdCommand cmd = con.CreateCommand(); cmd.CommandText = sb.ToString(); DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt.Load(cmd.ExecuteReader()); GridView1.DataSource = dt; GridView1.DataBind(); con.Close(); } protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (DropDownList1.SelectedIndex > -1) { if (DropDownList1.Items[1].Selected) { sb.Append("SELECT {[Measures].[NBP]} ON COLUMNS, {[Time].[Month]} ON ROWS"); sb.Append("FROM [PISystem]"); sb.Append("WHERE ([Employ].[Region

Selecting radio buttons in a gridview with dataset from Linq Query

Hi Everyone!

I've got a gridview that will allow clients to edit options they've already entered on another page.  The gridview has three radio buttons in it each with a value of 1,2,3.  The option value in the dataset is 1,2 or 3 respectively.  I would like to have the radiobutton with the corresponding value selected in the gridview so they can see what they previously chose and will then be able to edit, if they wish.

How do I do this?

Here's my code so far:

Dim clientOption = (From c In dc.ClientOptions _
                                 Where c.clientID = userClientID _
                                 Select New With {c.clientOptionID, _
                                                  c.optionWording, _
                                                  c.optionValueID}).ToList()

            'Now Populate Gridview 1 with set options
            If clientOption Is Nothing Then
                Label1.Text = "There are currently no set options to edit."

            Else
                GridView1.DataSource = clientOption
                GridView1.DataBind()
                Label1.Text = "Edit set options."
            End If

            <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="F

error when testing query during configuring sql data source for gridview

I got the following error message:

There was an error executing the query. Please check the syntax of hte the command and if present, the types and values of the parameters and ensure they are correct.  Failed to enable constraints.  One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.

But when I run the query through Management Studio, I can get the result.

There are no parameters for this query either.

Can anybody give me a glue what to check?

Thanks.

gridview image button's query string getting messed up

Hi i put this in a grid so that only one of the rows would have the txt box in it, it works ok ie the txtbox only shows up for the row with 1005 as the ID, but for some reason the query string for each row for the last element in the row, ie an AddToCart image button i have at the end of each row in the grid is not coming out right, ie the query string is missing when the page posts back for all but the last row of the grid which coincidently is the row with the 1005 ID, (the rendered code is shown way down, i apologize for the length of it ) here is the problem line. NOTE when i take the code out of the gridview on row data bound event then the page post back fine and the query string is there, but when i put the code back in the row databound event for the grid then the query string vars and values do not get posted back, clue greatly appreciated, thanks

Programaticly Adding Conditionals to a Gridview Query

I have a gridview databound to an sql source returning about 1300 records (cars).  I have listboxes to narrow the search (model year, manufacturer, segment).  What is the most efficient way to tie these listbox selections to the gridview query?

Right now I am piecing together my own sql query string and replacing the SelectCommand.  This works, but I keep running into timing issues where the command reverts back to the coded initial value.  I can continue debugging this, but is there a better way?

Inplace Edit in GridView

In this article I am presenting a different way to look at EditItemTemplate, using which user navigation for editing is reduced and . it looks very different (see screeen shots) then regular implementation of GridView.

GridView Confirmation Box Using JQuery BlockUI in asp.net

JQuery is the most popular JavaScript library. One of the main reasons for its fame is the plugin architecture. Anyone can create a separate library that leverage the JQuery library. In this article we are going to look at the BlockUI library which is used to block the user screen while performing a task.

Textbox Editable GridView in ASP.NET

This article describes how I made a fully editable gridview in C# using ASP.NET 2. The idea is that the GridView looks and works like an Excel spreadsheet. You see all the cells in the table, and you can edit any of the cells you like, and they are automatically updated (i.e. saved to the database). This is very often how people expect data tables to work in web pages, and I've often seen people clicking in vain on un-editable gridview cells, somehow expecting to edit them, and not understanding that they need to click an Edit button at the end of the row.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

AJAX GridView Checkbox Select All in ASP.Net

In the previous article GridView Select Multiple Rows you learnt the multiple row selection in GridView control. Here you will get the C# code sample to select all the gridview rows using single checkbox server control. You can highlight the selected rows with different color and Font state Bold. If you want to use the selection values on different ASP.Net

AJAX GridView Paging and Sorting using C# in ASP.Net

To enable the GridView Paging and Sorting to update the GridView Data without refreshing the ASP.Net web page AJAX Extension controls are used. UpdatePanel is used to hold the GridView control that triggers the events for the controls placed inside it. By Default UpdatePanel triggers the asynchronous postbacks for its child controls.
