DIME: Sending Files, Attachments, and SOAP Messages Via Direct Internet Message Encapsulation

Direct Internet Message Encapsulation (DIME) is a new specification for sending and receiving SOAP messages along with additional attachments, like binary files, XML fragments, and even other SOAP messages, using standard transport protocols like HTTP. In this article, the author explains what DIME is and how it differs from MIME encapsulation. A detailed description of the message format and how it is parsed, as well as working with SOAP and extending it with WSDL, is also included.

Error While sending Email using Outlook object in asp.net 4.0

Hi ,

I am trying to send Email using Outlook object but  it gives following error :

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0006F03A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80080005 Server execution failed (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80080005 (CO_E_SERVER_EXEC_FAILURE)).

Returning custom error messages with an UserNamePasswordValidator

Ok, my head hurts from banging it against the wall. I'm new to WCF, I have searched for a solution for days, please help a desperate fellow programmer if you can :-( I have a WCF service hosted in IIS, I implemented a UserNamePasswordValidator, and it seems impossible to find a way to return a custom error message to the client when the user is not allowed in, this blows my mind. I have searched everywhere, many are asking the same question since 2006 and so far I haven't found an answer that works. If you are thinking of replying that it is not secure to return a custom error message to an unauthenticated client, please save yourself some time and don't do it. There are multiple enterprise business scenarios that this is required. Just in our organization an account could be locked out, in which case the user must be directed to the IT department to get it unlocked, it could be that the credentials are correct but the user hasn't paid their fees in which case they must be directed to the appropriate department, or it could even be that the user tried to access the service during a time of the day in which the service is not available. From searching around, I have tried doing the things below in the Validate method, however the client always receives a MessageSecurityException, which contains none of the custom messages that were originally thrown, neither in the object,

custom 401/login failure error messages

I have a req to display a custom error message when a user fails to log in 3 times.  The default behavior seem to be for a redirect to something like this http://server/_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx?loginasanotheruser=true&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fserver2k7%2FPages%2FDefault%2Easpx after the third login attempt.  The resulting page just comes up as blank...I'm guessing because it failed auth.  My initial thoughts were to create a custom error page, and redirect with an http module.  That solution (while it does redirect) puts me right back to the initial problem of just a blank page being displayed after the failed auth.  I've been struggling with this for a while now, ANY thoughts or advice would be greaty appreciated.  Is it even possible?

Best practice for user defined error messages in SQL Server 2005/2008 --Need help

My requirement is to setup a standard practice for our team in handling DB erros and also  user defined messages. We are handling exceptions using Raiseerror method with in Try and Catch blocks.  For user defined message, we are using Sp_addmessage to add our application specific error/warning messages with error codess>80000.  Ex: 80001 | Company name already exists. please check. Here is the sample code ********************************************************************* CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_CompanyProfile_insert]  -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here  (@company_name VARCHAR(50),  @company_code VARCHAR(3),  @user_id INT  ) AS BEGIN  -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from  -- interfering with SELECT statements.  SET NOCOUNT ON;  BEGIN TRY -- Begin Try Block      -- Validate company name   IF EXISTS (SELECT company_id FROM companyprofile WHERE company_name = @company_name)    RAISERROR(90021, 16, 1)      INSERT INTO companyprofile (company_name,       company_code,       createdby)   VALUES(@company_name,     @company_code,     @user_id)    END TRY  -- End Try Block &

Stuck during restore process, no error messages

I need to restore a solution (a webpart) from a Sharepoint 2010 backup to another Sharepoint 2010 installation on another server. In CA and exactly in the page _admin/BackupStatus.aspx I see that: A backup or restore is currently in progress. There are no current or recent backup or restore processes to show. If you recently started a backup or restore process, you may need to refresh this page after several minutes for it to appear. Hours have passed since I started the restore process In _admin/ServiceRunningJobs.aspx there is no backup/restore job running. The question is: What can I do to try again a restore if I cannot stop the restore that is "running"? Please Help.

Error handling, multiple error messages

Hi all. Have you noticed that sql server catches only last error message? Try to run this: exec('create table #t ( t1 timestamp not null default 0 )') You get: Msg 1755, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 Defaults cannot be created on columns of data type timestamp. Table '#t', column 't1'. Msg 1750, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 Could not create constraint. See previous errors. Now try to run the same thing in try catch: begin try exec('create table #t ( t1 timestamp not null default 0 )') end try begin catch declare @Error varchar(max) set @Error = error_message() raiserror(@Error, 16, 1) end catch The error message this time is: Msg 50000, Level 16, State 1, Line 10 Could not create constraint. See previous errors. Does anyone have any better ideas how to handle sql server errors? Thanks

Error while sending email using ASP.NET 2.0 Beta 2 (Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2)

While trying to send email using<code> SmtpClient obj_SmtpClient = new SmtpClient(); obj_SmtpClient.Host = ""t; obj_SmtpClient.Send(s_from, s_recipients, s_subject, s_body);</code>I get the error message:Failure sending mail. I have also tried disabling the Windows firewall but still the same error. The SMTP server is a Microsoft Exchange Server that is part of the same domain as myself. I was logged on to the domain while running the email code. There is an excellant article on ORCS web by BradKingley (http://www.orcsweb.com/articles/sending_smtp_authenticated_email.aspx) on sending authenticated email using username/password, however what I need is how to authenticate in a purely Microsoft environment. Any suggestions as to how to fix this problem, gratefully accepted.

Antivirus #960013: Antivirus scanner timed out and CreateVariationLabelsList failed error messages

We are experiecing a problem with a multiserver SP 2010 Server farm. It is setup as follows:

2 x WFE

2 x Application Servers

1 x SQL Server

We found, that with Forefront enabled, (default configuaration), users could not edit content or access pages for a publishing site easily (very slow, lots of timeouts etc). Also, administrative tasks (such as creating site collections and sites) failed repeatedly.

We tried increasing the length of timeouts for the antivirus settings in SCAW, but this had no effect.

Disabling AV completely resolves the problem.
Obviously, going forward, we need to have the AV functioning - hence this post.

Does anyone have any experience of this, and of finding a way to figure out the cause and fix it?

Looking through ULS logs reveals several entires of this type:<!-- [if gte mso 10]> <mce:style>
