Configure a module through IIS Manager?

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 24, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I've developed a custom module with a custom configuration section.  Is there a way to create a plug-in or module so IIS Manager can manage the module?  I'm looking for the ability to enable or disable it by site as well as setup various configuration properties.

Configure SMTP Connection Manager

i have problem with SSIS, Send Mail Task.

What the difference between Send Email using Database Mail and Send Mail task?

Because with Database Mail i can send test email successfully. And can get email using msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail.

But when i type SMTP Server on SMTP Connection Manager i get error.

Sending duration is ~10 seconds and error: Error: 0xC002F304 at Send Mail Task, Send Mail Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "Failure sending mail.  System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server  System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond [IP]."

It maybe problems because of firewall? But why i can send email through Database Mail?

configure to use a on change event instead of click on View Report in Report Manager

Hi all,

the report manager by default requires after a users changes a value in a dropdown filter still to go all the way to the right and clik the "View Report" button. Is there a way (config..file)to update the report based on a filter value change without click  the View report button....

Config Manager gives error "The specified module could not be found. [0x8007007e]"

I've been using SQL Server 2008 Express Edition on my development pc for several months now.  It has recently started giving me an error when I attempt to run the SQL Server Configuration Manager  (SQLServerManager10.msc).  I have uninstalled completely and reinstalled twice which has not solved the problem.  I can run the Management Studio just fine and everything works, I just can't run the Configuration Manager which is an issue.

Full error message is as follows:

Cannot connect to WMI provider.  You do not have permission or the server is unreachable.  Note that you can only manage SQL Server 2005 and later servers with SQL Server Configuration Manager.
The specified module could not be found. [0x8007007e]

I have tried the workaround listed here: https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/Workaround.aspx?FeedbackID=443459 however I did not have a sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof file in my local install.  I copied the one from my production installation and ran the mofcomp.exe program successfully but it did not solve the issue.

How to configure IIS 7.0 for ASP.NET Web Pages Razor

I'm working on a blog framework using ASP.NET Web Pages with Razor Syntax and I'm having some trouble with URL rewrites. My server is a Windows Server 2008, which runs IIS 7.0. WebMatrix is already installed on the server and .cshtml pages runs without problems, as long as they are named "index.cshtml" I don't have to supply the extension.

What does not work, is when I have URLs that does not correspond to physical files, e.g. website/post/why where the only physical file I have is post.cshtml. With IIS Express, the post.cshtml file is execute but on IIS 7.0 I get a 404 error.

Should I install the URL Rewrite for IIS 7.0? What configuration changes is required?

IIS request filtering module

Hi folks,

I have migrated my web application to iis 7.5 Now I am using windows 7 as dev machine.

the problem is it takes several seconds to download a single page into web browser now. It contains only 300 records.

Everything is ok on prod website though. Prod version contains up to 200000 records .I can't also use code profile tool of red gate to analyze possible bottlenecks since the software in question can't restart IIS. No errors in IIS logs. I am using ISAPI Rewrite 3 filter by Helicon to apply some URL rewriting rules. I am thinking about conflict between ISAPI rewriting rules and default IIS 7.5 request filtering rules, since the IIS request filtering module gets a higher priority than even the built-in IIS 7.5 rewriter module. Is it possible to tweak the module through web.config so that priority is given to ISAPI rewriting rules or something like that?

Frankly, I spent several days to figure out solution. No success...

I've also deployed the application on IIS 5.1. Everything works fine. Any ideas about possible solution for IIS 7.5?

Authorize It: Use Role-Based Security in Your Middle Tier .NET Apps with Authorization Manager

Authorization Manager in Windows Server 2003 represents a significant improvement in the administration of role-based security, making it more scalable, flexible, and easier to implement. Using Authorization Manager, you can define roles and the tasks those roles can perform. You can nest roles to inherit characteristics from other roles, and you can define application groups. In addition, Authorization Manager lets you use scripts to modify permissions dynamically, and it allows you to wrap your security logic in a security policy that can be stored in Active Directory. Authorization Manager also includes an easy-to-use API for running access checks. The author discusses all of these topics and demonstrates them with a working sample.
