WPF ComboBox Style/Template example from MSDN "IsEnabled"=false gives designer warning/error in VS20

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hello!

I am using a customized look of the WPF combobox control with the help of the msdn Style and Combox Template example taken from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms752094.aspx

I copied that code and I can use the control just fine, but as soon as you set the combobox attribute "IsEnabled" (within the xaml) to false, you always get an error/warning in Visual Studio 2010 Designer view with the following message:

'System.Windows.Media.Animation.ColorAnimationUsingKeyFrames' animation object cannot be used to animate property 'Foreground' because it is of incompatible type 'System.Windows.Media.Brush'.

Actually I have no idea on how to fix this error - though I can run and compile the code fine. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this error? Since its an msdn example everyone should encounter this error when disabling the control with this template example?

Thanks in advance for your help, kind regards,
Oliver

sharepoint designer 2010 error when creating a new template

Hi all, I'll provide a little background detail in the hope that maybe I'm approaching the task the wrong way or my  method is better done via other ways?

I work in a education establishement, we already have our branding on the 2003 version and having recently seen some of the impressive work done in 2007 so wanted to implement branding on the new 2010 version.

Through using one of the basic sharepoint services 2010 templates I wanted to try a little basic re-branding to start off with and see how simplified the process would be, I already have Designer 2010 installed.

A test subsite was created under the 2010 'root' area and opened up in designer 2010. I could immediately see the main areas containing any logo and other branding features was greyed out so effectively editing of master pages was disabled. This was overcome by a little research and finding out I had to enable editing of master pages / templates through the site admin area. I was immediately given access to all master pages (default.master, starter.master and v4.master - which I understand 4v is actually the 'main' master page used?

Here is where the problems begin.....I'm using designer 2010 but each time I create a page based on a master template layout, designer provides the error message 'Sharepoint Designer:

2436 warning followed by 2424 error

We keep getting these two events EVERY 5 minutes in same order. Also we're experiencing slow response meaning that loading page from sharepoint sometimes just hangs for a while before even starts loading page to browser. Can this hanging be somehow related to these logs?

Notice that srv02:3812 is a Central Admin IIS web site ??  Config  db is on ms##ssee and content is on sql express.

I know about 2424 search service built in account issue and service is running under server admin account.

Any help would be appreciated.

Daniel

Is it possible to change the title bar background and the font style on default template?

Hello,

Is there any way to change the default top link /title bar picture and the fonts of the title without breaking anything in the layout/structure?

I have changed the theme to Obsedian and I would also like to change the picture of the title bar of this theme and also the font/style of the title, top link bar, menus..etc. Is there a way to do this?

Please note: I am using WSS 3.0 and I am not the Administrator of the sharepoint. I am only the site admin of some sites on this sharepoint. I can do some basic customization using SPD.

Basically, what I am trying to do is that I want to set up a sharepoint site, however I want to make it NOT look like a sharepoint site.Well I know this is possible, but for my case it might be just partially possible due to the limitation that I am not the Site collection admin and hence I do not have direct access to the server itself.

What I want is to hide most of the sharepoint links/menus/bars, etc and use my own buttons/hyperlinks etc .. for user to navigate on the sites.

Thanks in advance for your help/advices.

Regards

Rooven

In a style template, express a property in terms of the controls properties it is applied to.

Hello,   In the style template below, which works fine, I'd like to express the "Points" property in terms of the applied to controls "Width" and "Height" properties.  As you see, the "Fill" property is expressed in terms of the "Background" property the template is applied to by means of Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}".  The following does not work:   Points="0,({TemplateBinding Height} / 4)  ({TemplateBinding Width} / 12.5),({TemplateBinding Height} / 4) . . ."   Is what I'm looking for possible, all in XAML, no code/converters? <Style x:Key="FolderButton" TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="2.5" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Grid> <Polygon Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}" Stroke="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" Points="0,5 4,5 6,0 23,0 25,5 50,5 50,20 0,20"/> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate>

Environment is: Silverlight 4, VS Studio 2010. Designer is showing error in a Silverlight App when trying to access a resource as below. And there are no build or runtime errors. Error previewing images in the designer

Hi, I'm an absolute beginner with WPF and tried to play around with some of the examples I found.   Here is the problem: I want to create an Image control as a child of the default Grid created by the designer and set its Source property in Xaml.   Here is my Xaml: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <Image Source="test.png"></Image> </Grid> </Window>     The image file exists in the project folder but the designer immediately gives me the following error:   Error 1 The file test.png is not part of the project or its 'Build Action' property is not set to 'Resource'. D:\CSharp\Test\WpfApplication1\Window1.xaml 6 16 WpfApplication1   When I add the file to the project and set its Build Action to Resource the image is displayed at runtime. The problem is the designer still insists on the above mentioned error and does not display anything except for the information:   Problem Loading   The document contains errors that must be fixed before the designer can be loaded. Reload the designer after you have fixed the errors. Reload the designer   What am I doing wrong?   (I am using Visual C# 2008 Expre

Error creating Read Item or Read List operation in Sharepoint Designer 2010

In terms of high-level requirements, I need to pull in lists from a couple of different web apps.  To do this, I’m using SPD 2010 to create an External Content Type for the list of interest.  I’m able to create a SOAP Service or WCF Service connection just fine.  However, when I try to create the external content type and create a Read Item Operation on one of the GetList or any other Get* (or other Update methods for that matter) methods, I get the following error:"The method that your operation is based on has parameters with complex types that do not have default parameterless constructor.  This kind of data source methods cannot be used in Business Data Catalog."I tried defining an operation on the “AddAttachment” method, and that worked just fine.  I also tried providing default values to the listName and viewName parameters when creating the SOAP Service connection, but still get the error.  Same issue with a WCF Service connection as well. Does anyone know if this is a 2010 issue, or am I approaching this requirement incorrectly?  What are other approaches for connecting to lists that reside in a different web app than yours?

Accessing Combobox inside WPF Datagrid Template Column

Hi, I am creating a WPF datagrid template column with combobox. The problem that I face now is, I am not able to bind a table to the combobox inside the WPF datagrid template column. Here is the code snippet. <dg:DataGrid x:Name="Students" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Loaded="OnLoad"> <dg:DataGrid.Columns> <dg:DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding Path=Name}" Header="Name" Width="75"/> <dg:DataGridTemplateColumn x:Name="Dept"> <dg:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox x:Name="DeptId" ItemsSource="{Binding}" SelectionChanged="Dept_SelectionChanged" DisplayMemberPath="{Binding Path=DeptName}" SelectedValuePath="{Binding Path=DeptId}" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=Belongs}"/> </DataTemplate> </dg:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </dg:DataGridTemplateColumn> </dg:DataGrid.Columns> </dg:DataGrid> Please help me to find out the way to assign a dynamic source to the combobox through code behind file. Thanks in Advance!!! Best Regards, Subalakshmi Vijayarajan.

Error in SharePoint Designer when converting to XSL

While using SharePoint Designer, I attempt to convert a web part "list view"  to XSL and i get the error:  "The server returned a non-specific error when trying to get data from the data source.  Check the format and content of your query and try again.  If the problem persists, contact the server administrator."  Was able to convert this same web part a week ago, and now I am getting this error.  I have restarted all of the servers and still receive this error.  The only thing I can think of is that there might be an issue with having too much data in the list.  Any ideas?

Error customizing Approval Workflow in SharePoint Designer

When attempting to customize OOTB Approval Workflow, message "Workflow is read only?"  Request copy errors with "Server could not complete your request" Details button produces blank.  Any clue?  I am the site collection administrator for the site and the secondary farm administrator.

Projects Web Database Site Template immediate error

I decided to explore the Projects Web Database site template - clicked to create the site, and immediately, received an "an error has occurred." message on almost every tab of the site. What am I missing?  Am I supposed to configure something before I create this type of site?   I get this error in the event viewer: Log Name:      Application Source:        Microsoft-SharePoint Products-Access Services Date:          9/8/2010 10:03:43 PM Event ID:      3 Task Category: Data Layer     Access Services: An unexpected error occurred. Exception message: There is a compatibility range mismatch between the Web server and database "WSS_Content_PT", and connections to the data have been blocked to due to this incompatibility. This can happen when a content database has not been upgraded to be within the compatibility range of the Web server, or if the database has been upgraded to a higher level than the web server. The Web server and the database must be upgraded to the same version and build level to return to compatibility range.   Any help is appreciated!  Thanks!

I built a sp application on a dev environment and the code worked.  I moved the whole project to a different dev environent (i.e. differmt machine name, domain, etc), and when I try to compile, I get the above error (also, one about System.Data.dll) If I understand, it means VS 2010 is getting confused as to use the 32 bit or 64 bit GAC?  If thats true, how do I force this in vs? thanks  Rocky Sanders
