SPD Workflows - Assembly redirection doesn't work

Hi, I'm migrating a solution from MOSS2007 to SharePoint 2010. I have, among others, custom workflow actions in a DLL deployed to the GAC (e.g. MyWorkflows.dll version My new solution contains new workflow actions that target the SharePoint 2010 API (e.g. MyWorkflows.dll version So what I'm doing is: - Creating a workflow in SPD in a MOSS2007 environment. Such workflow contains one of my custom actions. - Upgrading the environment to SharePoint 2010. - Removing the WSP package containing my files/DLLs that targeted MOSS2007 and deploying a new WSP containing the solution files that target SharePoint 2010. - Add assembly redirection entries in the web.config file of my web application, so that calls to MyWorkflows.dll get redirected to MyWorkflows.dll version (I also add other redirection entries regarding other stuff - for example, webparts). - Reset IIS and OWSTIMER.   After that I can see that the old webparts work fine (the assembly redirection seems to work for them). However, when I try to run a workflow (manually, from the browser) it doesn't work. I get the following error in the ULS log: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: <Error><CompilerError Line="15" Column="3" Text="Could not deserialize object. The type 'MyWorkflows.MyActivity' could not be resolved." /></Error>   &nbs

Internet vs Extranet zone

Quick question. What is the difference between the internet and extranet zones in sharepoint 2010? I am guessing it depends on whether or not I am using the internet licenses, which I am not.  I just want a certain group of people to be able to access my site from outside via https. Do I just need to extend my main site collection?

Will workflows created in SPD for MOSS 2007 work in MOSS 2010?

I've started developing workflows using Workflow Designer in SPD, but some stakeholders have concerns that these workflows will no longer work or be able to be used when we upgrade to SharePoint 2010.

Are these concerns valid?

Search doesn't work for standard users, but work for Administrator

I'm new to SharePoint.

I have a Sharepoint site running on WSS 3.0. We use separate accounts to run the SharePoint sites and for the search.

The search doesn't work properly. I have did some test and here is the result

1. Using a regular user acocunt / Initiate Search from Site Home Page

Search returns the results for some search queries and not for others. for Eg: When I search for "Team" I get a result. When I search for "Management" I get the result. But when I search for "Release" or 'Release Management" I get the below error.

Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.

2.Using a regular user acocunt / Initiate Search from Search Page of the site (<<sitename>>_layouts/searchresults.aspx)

When I search for words that do retun a result, I get result. When I search for "Release" which I knwo doesn't return any result, I get the same error as above.

Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information.

This where it gets interesting. Now, after I get the above error, when I search for known w

SharePoint 2007 Workflows - Things to Consider Before You Start

SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) utilizes the Workflow Foundation (WF) to enable workflows on lists and content types. But before you start doing cartwheels there are few things you should know before you get started. The experiences I'll be discussing are not from book smarts but from building real MOSS solutions that are in production today.

Looking for guidance: wanting to work with AJAX architecture

I'm starting a small website that will be backed by a database, and will allow a small number of users to authenticate and select an entry in the database, and then view (and optionally update) a corresponding entry (think master-detail).

I have some flexibility in how I'll do this, but I'd really like to incorperate some newer AJAX style coding, eliminating some page postbacks. I think this is a great opportunity to learn the concepts well.

I'll probably go with an ASP.NET 4.0 site. From what I've seen there are MANY ways to go about this:

-WCF Data Services to expose the data, and consume in ASP.NET

-Page methods to expose the data, separate method to update the data

-I'd rather avoid the UpdatePanel because I'm really looking for a full hands-on approach, with learning client side scripting being an objective as well.

Beyond that, it seems that one can use jQuery to build clientside templates, but also one can use the ASP.NET AJAX template engine (in ASP.NET 4.0 I believe).

A concern I have: users should only be able to work with the data exposed via these endpoints if they are logged into the website. Hopefully I can somehow reuse the ASP.NET forms authentication cookie for this purpose.

Well, I hope I've posted enough to a

animate effect work but the render items are messed up.

Hi all,

     I have a very unique problem, humm i think. I am using a jquery effect that animate bounce effect, i have a line in my javascript pageLoad function $("#UserBrowserInfoDIV").show('bounce'); - the effects run smoothly but what it does is mess up the bolded text in the div. I have try the items inside the div without bolding and it works fine and no render problem but when bolded the text that are bolded is quite messed up, and barely readable.

Please let me know is there anything else i can do i really would like use this effect.

P.S all the effect have the same render problem, and i am using ie8 under compatibility mode.

Why getTreeNode does not work?

I try to run a  treeview example from msdn:

I also want to use code from

Here is my code:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>

<%@ Register TagPrefix="mytree"
Assembly="Microsoft.Web.UI.WebControls" %>
 <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">

     function xxx() {

         var myNode = treeview_one.getTreeNode(treeview_one.selectedNodeIndex);

<form id="myform" runat="server">
<mytree:treeview id="treeview_one"  runat="server" Child

Category attribute of user control property does not work correctly in categories tab.

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

[Category("Styles"), DefaultValue(""), Description("The value for formating something.")]
public String MyFormatProperty
set { /* the code for set */; }
get { /* the code for get */; }

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

Thanks, S.

Device detection: standard & mobile web applications

I would like to host standard web pages as well as mobile web pages on a single website/virtual directory.

Is there a simple way of sniffing out the machine type and then presenting either web or mobile application depending on the device?

Or is there a better solution other than creating separate website?

Many thanks
