The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer in SharePoint 2010

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

We are getting following error when we try to schedule a Job in SharePoint 2010 (using custom class derived from SPJobDefinition) from a custom web part.

System.Security.SecurityException: Access denied. at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPPersistedObject.BaseUpdate() at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPJobDefinition.Update() at xxxxxx The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer

This has been working fine before SharePoint 2010 (i.e. in WSS 3.0/MOSS). Has something changed for SP Jobs in SharePoint 2010? How we can resolve this?

Failed to change Farm Account in Sharepoint 2010 server, now Central Administration is not accessibl

Hello, I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. I was running installation of Sharepoint 2010 Server with administrative account ImTheAdmin, who is a Domain Admin in the domain on one of the Windows 2008 R2 member servers. Besides that, I made ImTheAdmin the primary administrator of the Sharepoint. ImTheAdmin became the only user of this Sharepoint 2010 server after installation.  I installed everything on one box with default installation settings. I used builtin SQL server, not Standard or Enterprise. What then happened is: Using ImTheAdmin account, I opened Central Administration Website, and it said, that I need to change the Farm Account, for the account for Farm was the default one (I think it was network service). So I created a regular domain user MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount. The account name was too long to be as a Windows 2000 name, so it showed there without last 't', e.g. MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccoun. I thought, Windows 2000 is long gone, so I didn't pay much attention, I think everywhere the account SID is important. I don't know if that is the real problem with my failure later, but it might be one of the reasons. I put MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount down in to the form of Central Administration Website, added the check mark, that it would react to password changes, and pre

SharePoint 2010 Installation Failed - FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms

Hi All,
We are trying to install SharePoint 2010 foundation on a Windows 2008 Standard-SP2 (NOT R2).
After installing SharePoint when we run the config wizard for the first time we get the below mentioned error. We have another box which hosts MS SQL Server 2008 and we noticed that the config database is created but the wizard fails during the Create Config Database step.
Local security policy for FIPS is disabled.

Failed to create the configuration database.
An exception of type System.InvalidOperationException was thrown.  Additional exception information: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.

SharePoint 2010 Workflow "Failed on Start"

I have a list workflow for SP 2010 that was previoulsy working this morning and decided to "Fail on Start" at some point.  I have done nothing to the list or workflow settings, I have just been working in SP Designer 2010 creating the WF.  I have searched high and low and have found all of the same answers that get me no where.  The suggestions include comparing the Workflow.xml and/or feature.xml to the name .dll in the GAC.

I have no workflow.xml or feature .xml files other than what I find in my Visual Studio folders from workflows past.  This time I am not using Visual Studio.  I am using SPD 2010, does it keep those files?  Secondly, I find only one of my workflowname.dll's in the GAC, also from an old VS workflow.  My current workflow.xml, feature.xml and currentworkflow.dll files do not exist on my workstation or server.  WHAT am I missing here??? :-(

Thanks!

SharePoint 2010 and Reporting Services 2008 R2 Integration Fail - Failed to establish connection wit

We have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition on a virtual server (C-SQL) and SharePoint Server 2010 on another virtual server (C-SPOINT), with the SQL Backend of the SharePoint database residing on C-SQL. This worked fine.

SQL Server was installed with the domain administrator account and SharePoint with an account called 'visi' that has domain administrator privileges.

SSRS on C-SQL was initially installed as a native database. I changed this to a SharePoint integrated database with all authentications done as the visi user. Report server url was set to the normal http://C-SQL:80/ReportServer/.

On the SharePoint central administration site under General Application Settings -> Reporting Services Integration I filled in the details as required:

  • Sharepoint 2010 Configuration Wizard Failed- Invalid Operation was thrown

Short Overview of SharePoint Features in Visual Studio 2010

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.

How to get more information about the exceptions that can happen in SharePoint 2010 projects?

In case there is an exception anywhere in the SharePoint 2010 project (most common place an exception would happen is during deployment of your SharePoint project, custom deployment configuration or custom deployment steps), there's a registry key EnableDiagnostics available for you to use.
