Office Web Apps installation problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I'm trying to install Office Web Apps on a WinSrv2008 R2 with SharePoint 2010.
The problem that occur is that when I run the setup.exe in the root folder of Office 2010, it doesn't prompt me for a product key.

The installation just progresses and installs the whole Office package on the server.

There must be a work-around for this.
Any ideas?

Microsoft .net framework 1.1 installation problem

Well I know there is numerous posts about .net framework 1.1 installation failure,I have searched through a lot of them.I failed to resolve my  problem so I am posting this.when I try to install .net framework 1.1 redistributable package which I downloaded from here it installs  .net framework version 1.0.3705 then when I want to install .net framework 1.1 service pack 1 downloaded from here which has the file NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe  it doesnt install showing the message  ''The upgrade patch can't be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing,or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.'' I have tried a lot of way to solve this including:using the stebner cleanup tool to erase all versions of framework then restarting  machine and reinstalling again but this way can't solve the problem, modifying registry etc.Other versions(1.0,2.0,3.0,3.5) are installing smoothly they are not creating problems only this fw 1.1.How can I resolve this issue. Please anyone help

SQL 2008 Installation problem (Could not fix registry key)

Hello, I want to install SQL 2008 client tools on a Win 2008 machine. The machine already contains an instance of SQL 2005 Express which I don't want to unistall. The problem is that the installation wizard complains about Consistency Validation for SQL registry keys. The log shows the following: 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp: Could not fix registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo. 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp: System.NullReferenceException: Referencia a objeto no establecida como instancia de un objeto. 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.ContainsInheritedAce(Byte[] securityDescriptor) 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.FixRegistryKey(String keyName) 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.FixRegistryKeyAndSubKeys(RegistryKey key) I have created the "ConnecTo" key, which didn't even exist. I have also tried to set premissions to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer to "Everyone/Full Control" but the installation fails over and over. Is there anything else I could try to get the SQL tools installed? Thanks in advance.

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

FAST Search Installation Problem

I tried the post install step for Fast Search on a Windows 2008 server without domain names (I used local user names only, due to constraints of our sandbox machine on our production network). The post-install step failed. In the installer log file I see: 1/4/2010 2:13:18 PM Verbose InstallAction - Creating IPSec configuration... 1/4/2010 2:13:22 PM Error Utility.WriteException - Exception -  : Exception - System.ArgumentException: A problem occurred when retrieving information on machine: watsdevsp2010. LDAP filter: "(&(objectCategory=computer)(objectClass=computer)(cn=watsdevsp2010))". Path: "LDAP://DC=watsdevsp2010". ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007054B): The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. where it fails an IPSec configuration step. I tried commenting out C:\FastSearch\installer\scripts\psconfig.ps1 file where the steps are for "Creating IPSec configuration", but apparently this file is dynamically created and overwrites my commenting out of this step. Has anyone successfully installed FAST search in a local account only scenar

Problem Saving Files to A Sharepoint 2010 Site from Office 2010: Saves locally by default rather tha

Hi we are starting to use sharepoint 2010 / word 2010 and have found an interesting bug/problem. Sometimes when a user tries to save a file (by clicking on the save button in the quick access toolbar for word 2010) the save dialog comes up with the users local "Documents" folder as the path (not the correct sharepoint path where the document should be saved).  (I should say that we are creating the file from sharepoint by using a toolbar on the document library, with the new button)  We are using a content type and a template attached to the document library when we create the file.  This is really annoying because the user might not notice that the document is saving locally and not to sharepoint.  I have found a strange workaround which involves clicking the [File] tab on the ribbon in word 2010, then clicking "Save and Send" and then clicking the save button again.  At this point word 2010 seems to "remember" that it is trying to save document to sharepoint and shows the sharepoint document library. This is a real nuisance which could lead to documents being lost/misfiled if people don't realize that this is happening.  Can anyone help me? Thanks Kevin krd

Problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003

Hi, I have a problem about opening Office documents in SPS2003. The situation is as follows: I use the same NB in building A and building B. In building A everything is fine but in building B when I open Office documents(word, excel..) in my SPS2003 portal something happened. If documents don't need authorization these documents are opened quickly but documents that need authorization when I typed id and password documents are opened very slowly(about 5-10 minutes). So what is the reasom about this problem. Any suggestion? Thanks.
