How to show all shared document s at one place ( ie. Teamsite shared docs and my shared docs) ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I am created a MySite in that under my contents I have some shared documents (say doc1,doc2 & dpc3) and also I am added a subsite using TeamSite Template which is having two shared documents ( say doc4 & doc5).

Now my question is

1. Is it possible for me to see all shared docs(do1,doc2,doc3,doc4, & doc5) at one place ie. in mycontens shared documents library with out any customization ?

2. If it not possible through OOB how can I achieve this ?

Waiting for the solution

tying Excel Shared Docs to Access

I have a Sharepoint site (version unknown) with several Excel 2003 spreadsheets stored in a series of Shared Documents folders. I'd like to link them to an Access 2003 database so I can run queries against them to keep them upated, while the change log notes any changes and sends notification to selected users. When I try to link the Sharepoint to Access it doesn't seem to go that low in directory level. Any ideas? Thanx.

Shared document errors

I'm a rank amateur with Sharepoint (and IIS and SQL), but I've been tasked with getting a 2010 installation up and going, so I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of .... interesting questions over the next few weeks and months.   So a couple weeks ago I installed a fresh 2010 Foundation server with it's very own fresh copy of SQL server. As I'm working through the "How To use" books I'm trying out the features.   My current issue is with the Shared document library.  I have successfully uploaded a file, and I can download it, but I can't check it out, or edit it.  (That might be due to using Word 2007, I'm not sure)   Regardless, when I try to check it out, it gives me the local directory prompt.  Then it gives the error.    "This document could not be checked out.  You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already check out or locked for editing by another user."   I'm the only one using this installation, and I'm a site/farm administrator so I'm not sure what it's problem is.   So I go into Manage Permissions -> Check permissions ->  Put in my name ->  Click Ok.   Which gives me:   Error File not found Correlation ID XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx Date and time : blah   So going to the ULS viewer, and checking the log (figur

All of a sudden (I don't know if someone has changed something!), whenever anone clicks on a link to open the "shared documents" document library in a specific site within our sharepoint site, instead of opening the document library, it instead gives a download dialog for a zip "AllItems.aspx" as a zip file. Anyone got any iteas what could have gone wrong and how to correct the issue?   Many thanks for any help!

SharePoint 2010 Documents inside Document set is no inheriting shared fields (lookup fields)

I have a situation that is making me crazy !! I have a content type that inherits from Document set. I have set some fields (metadata) in the document set and configured the document set to share it with documents inside it.

All the fields are being shared (inherited) to the documents inside the document set except for the lookup fields

I have 2 lookup fields that looks for information from a SharePoint list.

I'm using SharePoint 2010.

Cannot open Word document from sharepoint Shared Documents folder

Hey Every body

I have a very strange problem. Our Company has a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 solution running as our company Intranet solution.

We have a solution where outside users, can gain access to a workspace site on Sharepoint where diffrent people can work together on projects that involves both out side users and internal staff.
We have a folder called shares documents here we can upload documents that we want the other memebers off this workspace too see.
The problem is that internal staff can open up Word documents directly, but the external users are not able to open up directly these Word documents. Word just sayes that that is is unabel to open up the word document.
But when the users download the documents instead it works fine.

I have tries with both offcie 2003 and office 2007 and the problem is the same. But if i try to open up these documens via Open Office the problem due not exits, then is works fine. Why does Microsoft Word have these problems?

And is it just when the external users are opening up the documents directly from the sahred Documens folder that we have this problem.

The external users are connecting to our Citrix Netscaller security solution for authenticating purpoes first, after they have been validated through this solution, they ar

Document Set Shared Columns won't update

I want a document set where each content type in this set will have a common set of properties.  I want it so when any property in a document is changed, or a property in the set changes that everything gets updated.  So a change in to any one column will change everything.

I tried setting this up, but it did not work.  If I edit a property on the doc set, it will cascade down to the children, but it won't work the other way around.

Document Set, shared columns, Word Documents and quick parts

I have a document set with shared columns docset1, sharedcol1, sharedcol2.  My document set is made up of another content type (subdoctype1) that does not have sharedcol1, and sharedcol2, but they are shared via the doc set.

How do I add sharedcol1 and sharedcol2 to quick parts in the word doc?

If I create a document in the set of subdoctype1 and go to insert->quick part->Document Property I do not see the shared columns.  If I save the document and re-open it I do see the shared columns.  How can I add the shared columns to a template with no values?  It seem like I need an actual instance of the doc set with my sub-document type to exist before I can use it.

Collaboration on Word 2010 files that are saved in a Sharepoint 2010 Shared Document Library.

We have installed Sharepoint 2010 and Office Web Apps on a 64-bit Windows 2008 server. Excel 2010 files can be collaborated among different users (i.e. user status bar is showing the number of users accessing the Excel file) when the file is edited using Edit in Browser option. However, we cannot get Word/PowerPoint 2010 files to collaborate in the same manner (i.e. no user status bar).

Does the collaboration feature work for Word/Powerpoint 2010 using Office Web Apps or it is available for Excel/OneNote 2010 only?

If collaboration is also available for Word/PowerPoint 2010 using Office Web Apps, any ideas why Excel 2010 works for us and not Word/PowerPoint?

Thank you in advance for your help and clarification.

Add Excel under 'New Document' tab in Shared Documents library

What's the best, least time-consuming way to add (basic, out-of-box) Excel in the 'New Document' dropdown menu in the "Shared Documents" library? This is Sharepoint 2010. I tried to add it from library settings->content types->add from existing site content types, but it's not in the 'available site content types' window. Thanks in advance for your time and help!

Public Shared function doubt????

I am using VB.net/ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000 for a web application.

For populating the dropdowns, I wrote a Public Shared function LoadDDL(), in which I pass the dataset and dropdown name to set.

I have my doubts that this function will produce unexpected results for concurrent users. And will mix the results among sessions because it is a Shared function.

I am confused here. Is it the right way to go?

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Rotor: Shared Source CLI Provides Source Code for a FreeBSD Implementation of .NET

With over 9,000 files, and including some 1300 public classes to pore through, the Shared Source CLI can teach you quite a bit about the internal workings of the CLR. But the sheer amount of source code included can make just starting your exploration a monumental task. This article discusses some of the things you can learn from the source code facsimile of the CLR, like how JIT compilation works. It will also help you understand how to control execution along with debugging and loading classes. A walk through the steps involved in setting up the runtime will let you become familiar with the process.
