Need to Run a Process on the SERVER but how?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Ok Guys, here is the problem

I created a aspx.vb codebehind that creates a SDF database to a FTP directory that was created by using the the querystring of the employeeID same with the SDF.

For example FTP\databases\9750\9750.sdf

But now the design has been changed and I've got to tell these mobile 5 devices to run the same "Create SDF Database" process  with the EMPLOYEEID as a variable from the windows forms code on devices instead of my aspx web pages .

But How?

These mobile devices are on the same subnet as the server cause they are connected to a VPN so Sending Sql request are options. but I'm really hoping I can convert my exsiting aspx.vb pages to a platform that could be ran from the server instead.

I don't know what my options are. OR I can't see the forest for all the trees in my way.

My Question is this. What is the best way for my MOBILE 5 PPC's to send a request to the server to run my aspx scripts to build the sdf databases while using thier global var EmployeeID?

Should or could I build a console app that runs on the server and tell the Mobile Devices to run that?

What about a workflow app?

Can I tell a web server to run a createdb.aspx?EmployeeID=9750  f

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in starting the Process for the User

Could someone help with this please? I'm using VWD 2010 to build a new web site - I tried to add a new database file but it won't do it. I started by clicking on the folder 'App_Data', then right clicking and selecting 'Add new item' - after that I tried to add an SQL Server Database but received this message...  'Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in starting the Process for the User Instance' What does this mean? How do I start the 'Process for the User Instance'?  I imagined all that was done for me at the install stage, when I installed VWD2010, but it appears not.  Thank you for any help at all.    Regards

COM Server process compiled with /clr option doesn't unload itself from memory when last COM client

I created Visual C++ ATL project in VS2010, exe type, imlemented COM object, then added /clr option to project. Project uses other C# dlls (WCF service). When last COM client disconnects and last COM object instance destroys, WCF service stopped, my COM server process doesn't unload itself from memory. All managed threads in C# dll are background, COM object doesn't create threads. How can I unload server process? Thank you in advance.

C# COM Client to Existing C++ out-of-process COM Server

I'm reposting this question since I've been having some problems with my MSDN subscription, hoping I might have some better assistance now that aforementioned problems seem to have been resolved. I'm trying to connect a COM client written in C# to an existing (legacy) out-of-process COM server written in C++. I have imported the tlb using tlbimp.exe and have referenced the RWC in my project. I can connect to the COM server using object scComm32ComObj = Marshal.GetActiveObject("ScComm32.Document"); But that is as far as I am able to get. I need to be able to call some methods on the ScComm32CommObj, but trying to cast it to an interface or a class usign the interface results in an exception. Thanks, Bill

bootstrapping config process when there are two instances on server!

Have a package (several actually) that first reads c:\apps\config\mypackage.dtsconfig.  This sets the servername and catalog for my database and the main bunch of config values from an SSISConfigurations table.  Let's make believe we just *have* to use that table to hold the real config values.  Well, this all worked fine until they decided to put a second "test" environment on the dev server.  When a package is loaded in the test environment, it should use the test instance, etc.  But it shares the c:\apps\config folder with the other instance!  So now, I have trouble (at least) bootstrapping the configs into the proper environment.  This is SQL 2008, btw, which seems to be extremely important as to the order in which configs are applied.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb500430(SQL.100).aspx

Has anybody dealt with this?

I think I can squeeze through here as long as I only have to finagle this in dev/test, and production only has a single instance.  Do you see why?

Of course the goal here is to let the package configure correctly without opening it up and changing stored values just to move between environments.

Help!  and TIA,

Josh

ps - yes it would be nice if you could put a "p

What processes will delay the SQL server failover process

Hi,

We have an Active-Active-Passive setup. We have two SQL instances namely SQL1 and SQL2. When we tried to failover, SQL1 SQL resource is taking more than 2 Minutes to failover where as the other one is failing over in fraction of sec. We are facing this issue from last two days. Before that it's working fine.

We have checked whether there are any backups running which might delay the failover process, but no backups running. We have checked the DNS response time and it's very quick(same as the case of SQL1). There is very minimal IO activity on the SAN(SQL2 IO activity is more than the SQL1). Ther were no patches applied recently.

Following is our production environment.

OS             : Windows 2008 X64 bit

SQL           : SQL 2008 x64 bit Ent Edition

Noof CPUs : 4 (Intel quad core)

RAM          : 64 GB RAM

SAN          : HP EVA4450

Please let me know the factors which will delay the SQL failover process.

Unable to start debugging on the web server. The IIS worker process for the launched URL is not currently running.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, VS 2008 sp1.

When I first try to debug I get the error msg above.  I wait a few minutes (presumably some service is starting) and debugging will start but no breakpoints are recognized.

Some of the things I've tried:

Changing the binding of my site from a static IP to "*".

Enabled windows authentication.

made sure localhost = 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file.

The website was built under windows xp and whatever version of IIS ships with xp.  My web config has no errors that I know of but might be missing something required for iis 7 (??)

Thanks,

Sam

Error Message "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" thrown when using Dia

I've been trying to make a library that uses the System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounters to monitor perfmon on a variety of machines in C#. While the system seems to run fine, I've noticed after three weeks or so of polling that I just started receiving the error:

"Not enough server storage is available to process this command" on Windows Server 2003 machines

which the stack trace identifies as being from:

at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceMonitor.GetData(String item)
   at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.GetPerformanceData(String item)
   at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.get_CategoryTable()
   at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.GetCategories()
   at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterLib.GetCategories(String machineName)
   at System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounterCategory.GetCategories(String machineName)

The same error occurs when I try hitting System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses().

I can "fix" the issue by restarting the Remote Registry, but it's not really a long term solution since I won't be able to do this going forward on all of the machines.

I've noticed that on the machines that fail, around the time the failure occurs, I start to see warnings in the

SQL Server 2005 64bit -SP3 rollback process on A/P Cluster Environment

Hi all

Erlier I posted a questions Which I got Answer form Alberto Morillo & Siva...

Please some body guide rollBack process for given Rollout.

Pre-SQL Server SP3 Installation Steps.

1. Prior to Installing the SP3,Take  the  Full Backup of All Database (System Databases, User Databases), Databases backup is required  for roll back process, If installation causes any Database Damages

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the us

I am trying to get an app I created in VB.NET to run on a client machine. The app runs fine on my development machine but when I copy it to a client machine I receive the error:

Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance.

I have installed SQL Server Express on both pcs with identical accounts and running identical versions.

What's strange is if I change User Instance = True to User Instance = False in the code, the app runs on the client machine but not on my developer machine.

It seems more like a SQL Server issue than a VB.NET issue.

Any ideas?
